Hi Toni - once the fat has cooked in the oven and there are no bubbles left in pan (bubbles=water), then use a strainer with cheese cloth to strain it into jars - that should remove all the undesirable bits. Put a metal funnel on top of jar and sit the strainer with cheese cloth on top of funnel

It's been awhile since I made lard but use your crock pot melt slow in water let cool separate it from the water then do it again in clean water and keep doing it to clean the lard from the meat flavor my mother use to do it on the stove but depending on how much you have a crock pot or a electric big cooker would also work it can take it awhile 😊
I prefer beef tallow. Clean, freeze till 80% frozen and run through a meat grinder. Render fat in your crockpot, no need for an oven. Easier too. Love from Paraguay :)

The drones over North Jersey have been consistently flying at similar times and patterns. I do find it interesting they're not flying over the counties with more gun owners, I'm sure they would be used for target practice!
Toni, take your pig fat to the next level. Add ground pork butt, seasonings and you have homemade sausage. We make about 50lbs each fall and freeze it. You don't need sausage casings, just make it into patties.Apple sauce is a favorite. I use Smokehouse variety of apples and can a dozen quarts each season. Waiting for the first snow of the season. ah, Mark and I buy whole a whole shoulder (skin and fat intact and casings packed in salt) in February from the butchers when we are inclined to make sausages.
