    After watching a couple of RUclips videos of people tracking down the shoplifter watchers in the Walmart stores, I found that rather humorous and now when I go to my local Walmart I go searching for them myself. I found one guy in the electronics department and started following him. LOL!!!

    I did loss prevention at Macy’s, bradlees, and boscovs. Out of the 3 Macy’s was the hardest because of so many dressing rooms with no employees and two exits. Not to mention the size of the store. Boscovs has impressive cameras hd and lots of them. A professional lifter dresses like they have money. They will occasionally take out a knot of cash so security sees it. They don’t lift on the first visit. They don’t look up and act nervous. They visit several times always purchasing something. Then they hit but typically always paid for some of their items.

      Doesnt matter, if you go after a person "with money" and you're wrong all you have done is give that well off person a free lawsuit. Loss prevention is NOT law enforcement, they arent even security guards.

    Lies, you can't touch them, but you most certainly can stop the cart. The cart is not them and is Walmart property. So you can hold that cart as long as you got too. If they choose to stay or leave is up to them.

    • @BillSmith-rx9rm
      @BillSmith-rx9rm 3 года назад

      Not going to leave my cart with my property in it. it doesn't matter whether or not they physically touch me directly or not. If they detain me in any way, even if it is verbally, and I have done nothing wrong, it is unlawful detainment. Walmart has a series of steps that their security must follow before they can make a stop. if they did not observe me taking an item from a shelf and walking out of the store without paying for it, they are going to be in serious trouble because they did not follow their own steps.

    Walmart theft prevention security are called (asset protection) AP’s. They are continuously watching and following customers. They walk around in civilian clothes looking for for people of color, and dressed a certain kind of way. One day the all the register was having issues, causing everyone to call for assistance to scan their products. The manager was called because the regular associates couldn’t figure out what was the problem. So the managers scan my items and I paid for them. When we was walking out the door one of the AP man with civilian clothes and no ID grab my friend arm and stop the buggy. We didn’t know who he was and we were so scared. He then checked my receipt to verify that all seven of our items were indeed on the receipt and paid for!!! He never apologize. He just said oh, I see the items and walked away.

And policy does allow for a gentle hand in the middle of the back to guide them to the office but nobody in their right mind would do that anyways. And if it is a cart I'll grab the front of the cart as I'm talking to them and just guide them into the office. If they push the cart harder I'll let go but I haven't had that yet
