Nice video! Just one note: You say you should heat for PLA (Nozzle 220 and Bed 60) when auto leveling. However, since the ABL probe is attached, the nozzle will burn into the ABL probe. Just heat the bed to 60, but leave the nozzle be.
Thanks. Yes I have been watching out for that but it's far enough away to not cause any issues - and I've done it many times in testing. But to be safe you should probably just heat the bed, and then heat the nozzle for the Z offset.
I like the super racer and haven't done any modifications other than switching to a capricorn bowden tube. I intend to upgrade the firmware and the extruder (OMG V2-S) but haven't found the time yet. Ok it's not the time I am reluctant because it works and I don't want to change a running system. But you're right the extruder is bad. I would be really interested in follow up videos on the upgrades you're about to make. Coming from the Anet A8 and Ender 3 Pro progression I just got this printer and I absolutely love it. Blows away the Ender 3 Pro by a long shot and rivals the Prusa MK3 I use at work.
I've just ordered mine like an hour ago. Would love a follow up on recommended upgrades and the options available! Thanks for the profession look at this! Update: After 500+hrs printing mainly pla and petg and and it's been mostly painless. I've upgraded the extruder (Recommend you stick with an Bondtech BMG style extruder/I'm using Trianglelab DDB version off Aliexpress), bowden tube/couples, Energetic Textured/Smooth PEI sheet (Bed seems to have adhesion issues without glue after 500hrs), spool attachment upgrade I made on thiniverse "Flsun SR Spool Glider", Narrow Fan Ducts S on thingiverse (saw instant improvements even with stock fan on 3d Benchy). Still going strong, it's built quite well. Just with a pei bed and a quality extruder upgrade is all you really need on this unless dealing with specific filaments
So I have and ender 3 I have loved dearly for about 2 years . I was looking into buying this printer do you have links to the upgrades you made to it ? I will probably want to make them immediately .
Great video and very informative. Quite tempted by this printer as an upgrade to my Ender 3, I print a lot of RC plane parts and they can take hours so hoping this would cut back on that and save me some time. Did you test LW-PLA on this machine and if yes how was it?
Very thoughtful video, thank you for sharing. Have you tried printing anything with ABS filament on the Flsun SR? Any advices? Upvote for follow up video with upgrades and such!
Thanks! Yes - I've printed eSUN ABS+. Use some bed adhesive and for me 245C nozzle, 100C bed. It would be quite an easy printer to enclose if you're going to print a lot of ABS. I do hope to do a follow up video - thanks for the suggestion!
Have you upgraded the extruder? Have you used the magnetic print bed? And also can you make a video on octoprint? Can you provide the link for the flsun super racer upgrades video
Very good and informative video. After you upgrade your SR, so it can print from USB. Can you still print or flash jour SR from the SD card? I bought my machine used, and can ONLY print from USB. Now I want to install Klipper on it, but can't get it to read the SD card.
It's a while since I did this - there's a convoluted procedure to switch between USB and SD card IIRC - check FLSUN's support site. If you can't find the instructions let me know and I'll try and find them.
pls someone tell me how to make flsun purge a skirt to the side before printing. i googled and the codes i found doesn't work in cura. I'm confused. i need help. i have qqs pro.
Hi, could anyone tell me what kind of nozzles i need for the flsun SR - I want to experiment with different sizes - I'm assuming I need the longer, M6 Volcano nozzles and the shorter ones won't work?
Hello, really enjoyed your review. I am looking to get into the hobby of 3D printing and looking for my first printer. I have narrowed it down to the FLSUN Super Racer, Ender 3 S1 Pro and Ender 5 S1 (or if you have another recommendation around the same price range). It would be greatly appreciated if you could give your opinion on which one I should get as my first printer. Thanks
I just received my first 3d printer and this was the one I liked since the first time I decided to buy me one and thank's to your review I feel confident that I have a great printer for the long run.. I'm not afraid of changing parts as I already bought an extruder , bi metal hot end, better fans, capricorn bowden tube, and even a chihuahua lol...... I just forgot to buy the tools to change all this lmao...... any recomendations on the L's wrenches or keys!? great review...
Hi thanks for this. I own two of these and the auto bed level is off. More so on one than the other. I don't understand what it's doing wrong. But there is always a spot higher or lower on the bed. I'd love to see a follow up to this with any upgrades you have done. As I'm considering changing the part cooling fan myself. I have a capricorn tube on mine, plus change the couplings for the extruder as it ends up messing up your ptfe tube after a while. I change to a bond tech extruder and pei sheet too.

@@TheTechnologyMan Thanks for your advice, might wait for your review on the S1 Pro before I decide. I think I would prefer quality over speed and I also would be wanting to print with flexible filaments like TPU .
I use the SR more than any other printer at the moment because it's so fast. And I have upgraded it which I'll cover in a video soon so it's not far off the S1 Pro. It does do Flex - just not anything too flexible. But out of the box the S1 Pro can print pretty much anything theoretically - but still working through my tests to confirm this.
@@TheTechnologyMan I agree. I have a climber 7, three sovol sv01s, two srs, two qqs, anycubic predator (not currently working) and a hictop d3 hero. I ALWAYS use the SR if I can. Never mind the speed, it's just better quality overall as the bed is fixed.
I have both of them, large pla models work like a charm on flsun, s1 pro for other filaments do a good job, I am planning to do a lgx lite ext and dragon hotend upgrade, for the cheap extruder you can do 2 things, one, a washer from a ptfe tube for the piece on the opening side wheel, two a thicker clip for the coupler downside, ultra narrow fans and just a thicker clip does magic.
