U.S. 19 is no different than any other road and having a 45-55 mph 6-lane road is relatively safe. What U.S. 19 has, however, is a lot more street walkers and bicycle commuters than the average 6-lane road doesnt (or far less). Every 6-lane road in this country sees its fair share of texting and driving and DUIs. What sets 19 apart is the apparent bloated homeless and drug-addicted population that relies on 19 as their daily walker.
The problem is US Highway 19 is same as 34th Street… but is utilized as an interstate instead of… remember the Pray for me - I drive US 19 bumper stickers 🤷🏽♀️🙏

Human error is just the excuse the state DOT gives to avoid taking accountability. The real reason is exceptionally dangerous road design
