I completely understand the logistics of both life. So I opted for RV life. Been full time for 4 years. There are pros and cons with this too. I'm also looking for a change.
Hi Sarah!!!!! It was so amazing to be able to do a little collab with you. Hopefully uou can come sailing with us one day soon. Youre always very welcome in Australia! 🌎 ⛵
Good video again Sarah. Your own words are the best advice one can give: "Try before you buy". See if there is someone you know that will let you stay on their boat for a short time. Or take a cheap sail/dive trip with an operator to see if that sparks your interest. I know you will love it, but sailing is a form of pain like no other. A boat has more 'things'. And as you know the more things you have the more things break down - typically these 'things' are expensive to either fix or replace. Do you have any mechanical knowledge? If not you will have to have someone else fix things for you. It's a matter of when, not IF! Personally, it would be better if you had a partner as Kat does. So if you can put on hold the dreams till you meet someone then that would be preferable, and more pleasurable of course. But if you were really keen. You can often find cheap yachts that you can renovate but to life. It may take you a couple of years on being in one place while you do it, but you will learn a LOT about your boat, how it works, and how to fix things from the ground up. Check out a channel like Tula's Endless Summer, where they pick up a yacht for $100. They then spent a lot over a couple of years fixing it up and then sold it. But they had a great time using it once it was finished. There are other channels that show their boat resurrecting life styles, you could check them out to if you've the time and connection. I would certainly recommend you watch a few of these so you know what you are getting into, but it can be a cheap entry to boating life. But don't rush into the first $1 boat you see, do your research first. It will give you a huge audience and following for a number of years guaranteed! And a boat will give you the room for your own compressor eventually, so there's that. If you buy a sailing boat, then certainly you can teach yourself to sail, but it can be far quicker to go sail with someone who can "show you the ropes" quite literally! And that will make it easier. Get the book and read it religiously. Good luck with everything going forward.
Seasickness ... Essential oils work for me. I use MotionEaze, a drop behind each ear. Then I have Peppermint essential oil. If needed I put a drop in my palm, rub the palms together, then cup my hands over my mouth and nose like a mast. It is super strong and controls the seasickness. Must do it early on and not wait till you're green.
You both are full of life and fun. I lived in a van for 2 years maybe. I felt free. That I had to take full bath in the cold winter outside (with warm water) didn't bothered me at all. Wish you both good luck!
I was a Dive Instructor many years ago. I'd say both van and boat. Ideally a bus also. You can sleep whereever suits you best depending on the elements
If you are willing to spend more to live on a boat, are you also willing to spend that same amount to live in a more custom van rig that would give more room or built out more specific to your needs?
Unfortunately, the upfront cost of a decent van build is quite high since the demand is still up. I could build something myself but I’m not interested in that at the moment. It could be a future project though
Maybe 🤔 take a “temp” job or series of “temp” jobs where you live on a boat for a month or two, to experience how that goes? And see if you get your sea legs?
@@AzulUnlimited - also, I want to apologize for my earlier comments… I let my fears and concern for your safety override everything… and so of course my comments are geared toward caution… You are more than capable of fulfilling all your dreams … I admire your drive and fearlessness, and ability to go get what you want…do what you want and live this one life we get exactly how you want.

I feel bad for the her dogs, not being comfortable enough on the boat to relieve themselves … how to get them to go 💩 while out to sea might be a question for her veterinarian?
Yeah we take them to land whenever they let us know they need to go (or at least three times per day). They're happy to nap, play, eat and drink, but just have it ingrained in them to not pee on anything that's not real grass / nature :)

Very cool. What options are you looking at?
@@AzulUnlimitedoption would be to settle somewhere and travel part-time.

I would LOVE THAT! Let’s make it happen.
I think that security issues can also be important, expecially for us women.....
Yeah. It’s mostly about making smart decisions and trusting your gut. I haven’t had any issues living in the van

Thank you! Yes, I have been learning and that is my plan this summer. A mini ‘try before buying’
That's a great idea. It would be super fun to have Sarah come join our boat.
@@OceanPancake All she has to do is get there! Well if Sarah IS able to make it. do a trip north for her and take her to the S.S. Yongala!
I love the idea of sailing and scuba diving. My dream is to live on a sailboat.
Happy to be the guinea pig. We’ll see how it goes!

Definitely the dream. We’ll see how things pan out 😁
Another key point - she is not alone on the boat …
You are correct
Very true. Have another human at least and 2 four legged friends
See ya on the water 🤙🏼 let me know if you have any questions.
You inspire me, buddy!
Get ready for the channel to change from diving to boat repairs 🤣

This is awesome
😁 alternative lifestyles are pretty fun!
You should go for it! I've been considering living on a boat. Either on the open water or a 60 foot barge on the canals in the UK
Thanks!

You will have a lot more room in a sail boat compared to a van.....lol. The freedomof both lives is awesome.
