8.6 billion dollars worth of crypto was laundered in 2021.
So how do they clean their dirty crypto and get away with it? Understanding this will show you how rules in finance can be bent and even broken, especially with crypto.
But it’s important to say that there’s nothing inherently bad about cryptocurrencies…
It’s just a tool... Think of a shovel.. It can be used to build a garden... or bury a body.. So should we ban shovels?

I'm not sure, Max. According to Snowden, the three-letter-agencies already funnel and store all data from companies like Google, straight from the servers, they know what I see on RUclips. Too late 😢
if anything I hope you'll hear voices in your head over this, because if some dumbass begins spewing whatever is in that video an onslaught of girls from whichever country the guy is from is going to indefinieitly talk about how you've dirty money to launder

Banning shovels, let’s get on to that!
“Set up a car wash business..” breaking bad, anyone??
I see crypto as a ticket to a free life for anyone.
It all depends how many gardens you want to build or how many bodies you need to bury
1) i also got money problem = no money
So much for the good old days of Laundry Mats, Car Wash, landscaping materials, trucking, landscaping labor, etc. Then again you need a lot more options when moving the money that old Pablo moved but for the lower level laundry service it still works.
As far as avoiding taxes there is using the service of other people in a sort of straw man service to purchase your crypto and cashing out later on. Hypothetically that is.
Careful. Banning shovels isn’t off the table… 🤣
How do we contact Gardeners to fight for us? 🤣
Taking notes right now.....
Shaun White of Laundering, i will take it
I was more thinking about the practical use of crypto laundering for an ordinary working man. Let's say hypothetically 'someone' works a season in another country, and earns about €30k, getting it paid on a crypto wallet, but not wanting to spend 50% on income tax. How would one go about making this money clean? Asking for a friend
Crypto only makes up 1 percent of laundered money, and most of them were caught
Seems like a lot of work for some bags. I wont have the time to enjoy money if im too busy moving it
Nice video man but 6:38 could use some work. Just a little nitpick here. "18 people got 140 years in prison." Does this mean that 18 people got life in prison, or that they got a combined total of 140 years? I'm assuming the latter. Well that's not too impressive. That's 7.78 years on average per person. I mean it's a fair bit but for a massive drug/money operation it makes sense. I just feel like it's a weird way to say a lot of people have been sentenced. 140 years sounds like a lot, but divide it by 18 and you realize it's nothing special or unique.
Edit: but great video overall! Engaging and nice edits and story-telling. What I said is just a small nitpick.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! I have a quick question: My SafePal wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Quickly delete this comment, You're not supposed to give out your recovery phrase.

fuck it, let's ban all the shovels, how bad could it be

The money is dirty, the crypto is clean.
It's quite saddening that because of how big and popular it is now, Crypto has attracted a lot of money-hungry institutional investors
Originally block chain (BTC) is the worst way to hide or laundry money because all
The records and transactions are easily visible to anyone.
@@wojciechkazimierowicz7945 So very true. With the exception of a handful of cryptos designed for privacy, all blockchain transactions regardless of the cryptocurrency are visible to anyone. But at the same time $24 billion in taxes, that's billions w/a B, has gone missing from the California treasury. If it was crypto we would know where it went. But crypto is the enemy.
It being designed with the principle of pseudonymity and decentralization in mind, it somewhat failed. I for one view bitcoin as a good proof of concept, but the ludicrous prices as of current (mostly due to a resurgence of interest coupled with the halving date) to be completely unjustified. Monero on the other hand offers complete anonymity and has actively been delisted from large exchanges due to trouble with government spaces regulating the coin. If that isn't an endorsement I don't know what is. Most large exchanges only serve to centralise and deanonymise users anyhow, namely being a gateway into the ecosystem as well as requiring ID to purchase. LocalMonero was good while it lasted, and I'm sure it will be replaced by other emerging DEXs. Rant over.

There is no need to launder money; just pay your taxes on money from you ill-gotten gains, paying taxes is not a crime, tax code does not say your money has to be legal. Typically thats how theyre going to bring you down, Tax Evasion and money laundering.
In Garner v US, the Court held that the privilege must be asserted on a tax return. In other words, the self-incrimination privilege can be invoked to protect the filer from revealing the illegal source of his income, but does not protect him from disclosing the amount of his income, regardless of source.
That’s literally the definition and point of money laundering lmao… to pay your taxes on ill gotten gains and buy real world assets
@@shawnwaheed206 you don’t need to “wash” your money to pay taxes on it. Paying taxes is not money laundering. Washing, hiding and concealing your money is laundering vs directly paying taxes on ill gotten gains.
@@montramedia are you stupid? The authorities will eventually find out that you are paying taxes with illegally gained money
@@montramedia So just to understand this better, in the uSA if i declare $1m as income on my irs forms, and pay tax on it, are the remaining funds "clean"?

Selling nfts to yourself (or a crime partner) has become the artsy way of laundering money. I believe that much of today's art wouldn't exist without money laundering. Nfts allowed the everyday guy to wash with "art"

You bring up great points but shovel violence is a serious problem. We should have common sense shovel laws. Mass diggings are more prevalent than ever before.
I think we should ban shovels
Great video, your pace is amazing. My attention span is so trash yet you kept everyone engaged with so much information so quick, keep it up!

What about become a NFT artist, and with the dirty mixed wallet buy a bunch of NFTs including your own, keep selling between clean and dirty wallets, than pay taxes on sales profit? Anything wrong with that? Just curious FED, don't tell me you didn't thought about this before FBI
Max, here’s my problem with FTX:
They require WAYYY too much private info to trade on their interface. I mean, I strongly prefer other exchanges since they have far less verification and all. Meanwhile, FTX be like: “proof of residence and your bank statements please…” like dafuq? I had a back n forth argument with their support team on this stuff. Sorry man, I don’t like FTX since it seems to act more like a CEX & holds far too much private info on the user.
Truly understandable Johnny! You can try Kucoin, no KYC required :)

I agree, same experience. After a full KYC and their 2nd tier verification, my account was still limited. They still wanted more info. Never had that kind of experience on any other exchange.
Yeah, kucoin is great. They haven't even verified my info and I can use all aspects of the platform, like margin and futures
Proof of address and a bank statement are the absolute base level for any cex??? My respect but tf are u talking about? I have provided PoA and a bank statement for any major cex i have refistered on. How do you think you can get assisted if something goes wrong with your account? How would you verify that you are the account holder of the bank account you wish to withdraw to?
@@Nephilim2525 FTX required more than that. I had to do 3 levels of verification with FTX just for basic usage. I haven't needed to do that with any other CEX.
But politicians can get away with crime

Where to laundry money? Banks! They get caught, send a press release saying “we are sorry”, pay a billion dollars fine and do it again… Another example? Military spending and war funding. How much does cost a stealth jet fighter with all the sensors and whatever? Whatever the customer ask for. 😂 Crypto bros are juvenile…
Pieces of art… Real money is laundering in art through shell companies. It’s well known. And nobody does shit. Guess who are the artists? 😂
After watching a lot of videos I guess Cryptocurrencies are still surviving because it is helping governments to catch criminals, who would be otherwise unreachable.
Otherwise cryptocurrency is going to end badly.

1. Money laundering was a bit unexpected
2. Cryptocurrency is easily tranfered and much more liable than you try to tell us
3. And that’s why criminals use crypto
I don’t understand. Isn’t is easy for authorities to estimate cash flow for a business to thus determine if there is extra money being laundered?
Not every cryptocurrency has a public block chain, ie xmr. You cant just look at someone's wallet value
Using cash businesses to launder money is increasingly difficult with people using cards to pay even the smallest bill. Many people no longer carry cash at all.
I wonder how Do Kwon did it according to the Terra employees he was cashing out 80 million per month, he ran it up

Okay but I wonder how they do it that you sell the monero and let say you buy a house or a car how you write it off tax when you did not had a money to buy it and now you have it

And how do they know exactly that 8 bilion were laundered?

When you get crypto, just buy gold with it from online. After that sell the gold on the streets. Laundry done, no taxes paid, lol
There is no credible historical evidence to suggest that Al Capone ever bought or operated laundromats. The connection between laundromats and money laundering is more of a metaphorical or symbolic concept rather than a specific historical practice linked to Capone. Great video otherwise.
