- The NewarkCardGuy Card Show | Newark, CA / SF Bay Area CA | Upload November 27, 2024 | Show November 3, 2024
My first and second times vending a card show were on back to back weekends! I knew the first would be larger and more heavily attended, so I intentionally went into each show planning a different approach and it largely played out how I hoped!
Enjoy a much chiller show and video than the first one - I do a lot of buying and trading and... not a lot of selling... and I throw on the chest cam and walk around buying so you get some buyer POV action too.
Thanks to everyone who came out and supported! It was super fun to make deals and meet people in person.
As of this upload (11/27/24) I'm not scheduled for a specific show to vend again, but I hope to do it every ~3 months or so, and hope to be back around February and May!

My favorite thing about the community is how it’s really just a safe space for people to be themselves!
My favorite thing about the pokemon community is seeing new young collectors enjoy the hobby as much as I did when I first started. And more seasoned collectors have been so encouraging to the new generation!
These videos are equally as insightful as they are entertaining. You get to learn a lot about the community even if you’re not an active part of it. It’s so cool to see people who are chill enough to buy, sell, and trade with vendors with such ease. It’s a testament to the popularity of the hobby.
my favorite thing abt the community is seeing vendors giving out cards for free and not be greedy over a dollar . i think its rlly awesome and we need to bring more kids into the hobby for sure ! As well as when the community comes together to try and help someone for example completing a master set or just something they rlly want in there collection !
Seeing vendors like you and parents taking care of the kids at these shows with the freebies and kindness has got to be a favorite of mine. Spread the love!
Great upload again brother. This video embodies my favorite part of our community, which is the generosity to each other
Favorite thing about the community is seeing what people like to collect! Whether it be a certain artist, pokemon, or era, its cool to see everyone's unique taste
Love the video! My favorite thing is how most people are so friendly and always taking care of the kids. I brought my wife and 18month old to a show and my daughter got so many little stickers and even a little eevee plush that she hugged all the way home. We werent even expecting anything either just enjoyed walking around.
i agree, the community is very wholesome, yourself included.
Man I just love your RUclips videos. I know you’re getting bigger as a RUclipsr and I’m proud to see how you handle the passion of Pokémon. Congrats and I’m always a fan and hope your well
Look ma, I’m in a video 😊 - best thing about this community is how willing people are to cut others some slack here and there. It makes the whole process of getting back into it much better.
Love the videos. Congratulations on all the success. I love how friendly and supportive the community is. Your videos are a shining example of this.
Just loving all the positive vibes you give to the community. From the kids to your viewers, it's a great atmosphere to be a part of. Still need to get myself out to a show!
I love vendors who really enjoy the hobby. Love how you were excited about seeing the pikachu even though you didn’t want to buy it and how people grew attached to the cards and don’t want to sell even as vendors.
A lot of honest and kind people out here that are willing to help you out
That Crystal Golem trade at the end was nice 🔥. Gorgeous card! Adore my Japanese one from Split Earth.
Agree with your statement during your conversation with that mom! Pokémon really has stayed throughout multiple generations and has such a strong rooted community. I love how diverse and kind the community can be.
I think there can be a lot of those just looking to make a profit from how popular it is. Glad you don’t mind giving away cards to those real ‘kid collections’!
Thanks Riki 🙏🏾
@@Oubaitorii thanks for your thoughtful comment my man!
Loving the vids! Always love to see generosity within the community, also helps grow a new generation of collectors!
My favorite thing about the Pokémon community is that its probably the friendliest and most diverse one out there. I've collected and tried YuGiOh, Funko Pops, and Hot Wheels and man they don't compare to what this community has. A majority of people are open to give and help with the hobby which makes me happy.
Cool vid. Pokemon community always help me to find some great cards and also great people. Love how they support each other!!
My favorite thing about the pokemon community is seeing kids get involved in collecting there favorite pokemon. Reminds me of myself when I was a kid!
Yes new upload!!!! ありがとう🫶🏻☺️
My favorite thing about the Pokemon community is that lot of vendors are very friendly to kids🫶🏻 I have a 1 and a half year old son and it’s great to witness the love in the community ❤️
Big hype for another video!! - I enjoy watching the trade nights if your solo and just trading cards with people you just meet on the floor/chairs/tables as adults just very cool to see a growing community.
Just went to a card show in Stockton and the vendors were so kind and generous to my 5 year old. Always answering questions and giving knowledge 🙏🏻 for a second there I thought u we’re going to Vend the rest of the show in your Tank 😂😂
Your interactions are flawless. Keep the vendor POV’s coming. 🔥🔥🔥
@@PocketmonTrapper too kind.. glad you enjoy! I focus pretty much entirely on having fun and making sure my buyers do too!
Gotta say my favorite thing in the community is the strong sense of helping people complete collections even if it can be to the seller's detriment at times. Coming from other TCGs, it is really refreshing that see that passion for collecting and not just money flipping!
@@zephyr7134 love that. I totally agree!!
Another upload let's go! Favorite thing I like about Pokemon is that it exceeds generations. Kids to adults can enjoy the hobby in some way shape or form!
Randomly came across one of your buying videos in Japan and made me want to get into collecting. Ordered some crown zenith booster packs and can't wait to open em up in a couple days. Great videos and you make the hobby seem inviting.
Oyama love seeing more of your videos! Keep up the great work. How can you not love this community and how it continues to grow over the years and make amazing memories for us all.
Love seeing how you do deals. Great and easy to work with. Can't wait to see vendor pov 3
Recently getting back to my childhood hobby and attended my first ever show! and mannn is my favourite thing is the passion other collectors or vendors share in pokemon. The smiles and overall vibe is immaculate. You can feel the happiness radiating from people who collects, buy, sell of trade!
totally agree!
Love how giving the pokemon community is in comparison to like the sports card community. So much love in Pokemon! Makes it so much more fun!
All the other communities I'm are on fire (lots of drama, hot takes, strong opinions) so when I found this wholesome pokemon community, I needed to be part of it. I've always been a pokemon fan but never got into the TCG. The community was the reason I got into collecting.
My favorite thing about the pokemon community is seeing the different eras people collect and why they collect/play. To me, different eras and pokemon are nostalgic and I've always been a fan of vintage cards.
Love too see the growth. From buyer pov the vendors shows. Cant wait to see your booth n support the locals. Next is online presence. If you haven't already.💪good luck on ur next showers. Ps. U should post ur next ones !
Heck yeah! Always stoked to watch your vids. My fiancé and I just started to get back into collecting, 151 Japanese specifically (With a little neo gen peppered in). Timing for finding your videos couldn’t have been more perfect. Same deal, Bay Area natives here so we will def try to see you at a show one day. Let me know if you ever have/want to sell some 151 boxes! Finding them locally in shops is pretty much nonexistent. Cheers!
ive watched every video. love from vancouver, keep it goin mr oyama. i like how kind everyone has been over here in the community, compared to other hobbies its much more fun oriented and not as ego driven hahah #grownkids great vids
LETS GOOOOOO been looking forward to another vid. card shows have been so fun recently, my last show i picked up a lot of stuff.
Hé Ouyama, i love your video's. I always watch them. The Pokemon-community is such a diverse and fun group of people who share the same passion and accept each other regardless of who they are. Greetings from the Netherlands
My Favorite thing is seeing all the different types of things ppl collect, everything from master sets to TOPPS or just all of one pokemon, cool to see what each trainer likes
My favorite are all the different and unique collections from so many people
Great videos dog, loving the content
My favorite thing about the pokemon community is finding a closeted or new pokemon fan and teaching them the ropes. I give away so many cards
My favorite thing about the Pokemon community is participating in giveaways
@@fredrikfinger1542 haha fair enough
I like that anyone of any age and background can get into Pokemon!
My favorite thing about the community are the comments you hear from kid collectors. I was at a store looking over bulk and this kid comes up and asks what bulk are, pretty much. I told him and that the store allows you to fill a small pack to the brim for $5 and the kid's eyes blows up wide and goes "this is the best day of my life!" to his dad.
AH, I SAW ME HAHA, stop I was so nervous, LOL. One thing I enjoy about the community is meeting different types of people. :D And talking about our preferable pokemon favs.
@@silvies. haha you didnt need to be nervous!!!
Great content as always.
Oyama carrying the Bay Area on his back solo …
Haha way too much credit!! 🙏
my favorite thing is that everyone collects something different
My favorite thing about the pokemon community are the different pokemon that people have as favorites. Mine's Arcanine but I saw someone's favorite is Feebas which is wild to me.
so funny seeing yall talk about the pika prerelease knowing the chaos that ensued afterwards
@@easymac1348 i know! I was mostly wrong this time but stand by the decision. History tells us buying pre release almost always is a money loser!
@ no doubt! I stay away from buying new sets also
Got that Fire Cuban uncle fit 😂
@@HellaLoot 💀
My favorite thing about the community is it’s constantly changing for good and for bad. But for a TCG to be almost like a stock market just blows my mind with how far it’s come since it first came out when I was a kid. Btw when are you vending next?
Ah read the description, every 3 months or so!
🔥 content brudda
my favorite thing about the pokemon community is how most people are always willing to help out new people coming in to the hobby also nobody cares but my favorite pokemon is lucario so if anyone knows about any cool lucario cards please do tell i still dont have any pokemon cards myself
I care! Lucario is sick! I think one of the best Lucario cards for a brand new collector is the Lucario VSTAR promo from Crown Zenith ETBs. They're super cheap because those ETBs were printed and opened by the pallet, but it's a very very cool art for the money. If you reach out to me on IG @oyamastrading with a US shipping address I'll send you one for free.
Favorite thing about the Pokemon community is meeting hot singles in my area 😂
Damn missing out on the bootychu for $300
I don't feel like it was missing out! The same approach that causes me to miss out from time to time is the same mentality that's created a lot of success and good decisions in my life so I'm ok with it. At least 9 times out of 10 historically, buying the biggest chases pre-release has been a great way to burn some cash 😅
Where do you find these shows? I’m from the Bay Area also and only recently say the Bay Area card show adds but can’t find details on other places
Well, $300 for that Pika would have been amazing on that day; if you waited about a week after release it hit $600 and now its floating around $440-450.
Still understandable not to take the risk.
Totally. I stand by it! If it were a bigger show id have definitely bought it expecting to flip that day though. No likely scenario where I held onto it and watched the price climb anyway :)
@@oyamastrading Makes me want to get back into going to shows. Well done, love the vid man!
Are you going to try and Collectacon's next year?
I intend to walk the LA Con in March!
What app do you guys use to check prices?

Where was this show at?
Newark Pavilion in Newark CA near Fremont and Hayward
that pica is to the moon
You hyped for the new Black and White set they just announced?
Short answer is, a medium amount!
My peak Pokemon nostalgia is for gens 1-4, I've played every main line game as they came out except Legends Arceus but I think I was a senior in high school when Black and White came out. That said, Gen 5 has one of the absolute best sets of legendaries and pseudolegendaries. I'm expecting some epic IRs and SIRs!
squirtle is only $35? wow it was so much lower a month ago I had to pay $55 for that one or maybe I overpaid
@@FahimPlayz i dont think it was ever $55 maybe pre release. I do think this guy had it a bit underpriced for some reason. I think they were like 42 market at the time of this show
@@oyamastrading ye I think I overpaid at the place I bought it but it was their only one at the time and I really wanted it
