I used 2mm odyssey and mx-5 thermal paste I only changed the pads around the memory chip from 98/100 temp 95hash to 74 temp 102 hash ....thanks for this video
How the core temps are holding after 5 months now as I read some complaints about performance degradation using this paste after few months due to pump out effect. similar goes for wet pastes like Thermal Grizzly and NT-H1.
Big thanks for this video bro, I was having thermal throttling issues for months.Followed this video, swapped out my pads on my 3080 Suprim X and she went from 75MH/s to 101MH/s.Temps went from 71C to 42c.You earned a SUB.
My MSI 3080 Suprim X after replace all Thermal Pad's and Paste, get max: GPU 64*C, MEM 68*C, and HotSpot 74,9*C, at 2327RPM ( in gaming, and benchmarks with power set to 92% in Afterburner ). Before was GPU 88*C, MEM 98*C, and HS 104*C at 100% power ; and about GPU 82*C, Mem 92*C, and HS 98*C at 90% power ( and noisy fan at full speed 3000rpm !! ). First get good thermal paste ( i aplied Silver Monkey X Conduct Extreme ), and good thermopad's ( i aplied Gelid Ultimate 90x50mm 15W/mK; 2mm on memory, and 1,5mm on power section; and noname 12,6W/mK 3mm on top of the card ). I hope that will help someone ;)
What thickness of thermal have you used ? I saw 2 box in your table, one of them 2 mm and the other one 1 mm. In reddit theres also a lot of information, with variety of thickness, from 1mm to 3mm . Could you please clarify that ? It would be a nice information on the description of the video. Thanks for the upload !
Im having issues with thermal throttle as well on mine, same exact make and model. It honestly scares me that you have to just PRY the board off of the heatsinks, makes me not want to do it, but I know I have to because even when im just gaming Im getting a thermal throttle. You would think that with the SUPRIM's whole thing being superior cooling that it would actually have good thermal pads to do the one thing they say its good at... cooling.
mine is running 1300 on ram..1200 on core..power limit 70% ..fans 90% and i have max 72C on my 3080 suprim x...best gpus for mining..better then strix or ftw3...i mean 72C on memory junction on eth...i used 2mm odyssey extreme pads...i've changed only pads on ram and thermal paste for thermal grizzly...ergo is 58C on memory junction:)))
Hey there, thanks a lot for the video! I just tried that exact same on my card, also a Suprim X. Memory now runs at around 88°C, down from 108°C. But: core temp now goes up to 78°C, where it used to be 46°C. The gpu also seems to further throttle core voltage beyond 77°C core temp. The thing is, i used some spare 3mm thermal pads on the memory. Might that increase distance between core die and cooler enough to harm thermal transmission so badly that it runs 30°C warmer? To replace the stock paste i used arctic mx5. The core temp is only a problem though under load. During idle, it remains at 25°C. The obvious thing to try now is swap the 3mm pads to 2mm pads right? Ambient temperature is at around 20°C. Right before swapping the pads, the memory reached 108-110°C even at below 20°C ambient temp. Four months ago, ambient temperature was still beyond 30°C but memory was still below 100°C. Is it possible that the stock pads deteriorate fairly quickly?
I have similar issues, 3080 suprim X that used to run around 92° with +1300 on the memory. I noticed the temps creeping up slowly until it hit 104° then I have been pulling clocks back to compensate. I am now running with power pulled back to 50% and memory -500 to keep memory temps around 92°. I believe the stock pads have deteriorated very quickly in 3 months. Regarding pad thickness, another video stated that backplate thickness was 3.5mm, and on the front ram pads were 2mm while the other pads such as vrms were 1.5mm. that might explain why your core isn't cooling as your memory pads may be too thick.
@@MediumPoo Yep, solved it. I reordered 2mm pads and swapped those with the 3mm mem pads. Now I get Core: 47C @1600MHz Mem: 82C @10250MHz 97MH/s @61% power (225W) and 65% fans. Super worth the change!
if you increase the passthrough of heat from GPU to cooler at some point the cooler can become hotter and hotter and thus effecting a colder part (the core). This is the 2nd law of thermaldynamics.
@@manuelv.4684 Hey man I have this exact card and obviously having this issue too. Seems that SUPRIM though advertising superior cooling used shit pads and it does the exact opposite. I don't suppose you could link me the thermal paste and pads you used?
I have 3090 suprim, I change all thermalpads with gelid extreme, backplate too, result: before: 104º, after 98º.... all thermalpads touch perfectly with heatsink... I can't believe you with 78º, is impossible. I change 3 times the thermalpads, same results, with heatsink extra and fan 25cm for backplate the result is 92º... wtf ?
he has ac or something we have no idea what ambient temp is i have a 3080 evga and memory goes to 100 full load mining, with ac its stays at 78c :P instead of posting all relevent info he just moves the camera around like Blair witch I got so annoyed!
aparently every manufacturer does the same I get over 100C on msi and asus.. it seems that they figured out it's good enough if you don't OC the mem :/ but for 3090 especially - they should have figured out you're gonna do heavy gpu processing on them since they are supposed to be "pro" - all my 3090s overheat on vram..
How these GPU manufacturers charge these prices and still fuck up something as simple as memory pads.. is beyond me

8:22 You forgot to apply small rectangle vrms on the left side. Compare termal pads with 3:29.
Those space seems empty, thats why he desided not to waste pads more than it needed i think
Thanks for great video. Also nice background music.
That music absolutely made me quit the video.
Core temp seem to be too high due to wrong size pads…
Had similar problem with 3090FE

The two smallers screws from the backplate, where were they from?
Great video and thanks for paying attention to the details
102Mhz - 78C Memory. What do you want me to do with MSI RTX 3080 SUPRIM X. Please leave a comment below
GPU temp raised from 48 to 54 now. So don't change paste
The way you don't even align the bit to the screw before goin to town irks me lol. Good video though 😂
What is the thermal pads size for MSI 3070ti superiem x ? is it 1 mm 1.5 mm 2 mm ?
hi did you find out?
@@HKsystem yes
@@samimohammad8628i think 2mm, do you know exact mm
@@burakhan3115 Yes only 2 mm and changed only vram only.
How about suprim x 3070 only?
If the original thermal pads is 2mm, should I replace exactly the same size?
Of course. Always use the same size pads.
Graphics cards are like 25% GPU/PCB/and components and 75% Heatsink/cooling.

Odyssey very good. Change only pads on for ram is ok.
The suprim x get easily 100mh with +0 core, +1300 on ram and 62 on power. 70 is too high for this card
in terms of quantity, is a 2mm and 3mm pack enough?
i used 2 mm
