    We have irons in the fire! I preached and preached save your money. We all hope to be more prepared for things like this but if you have been saving your money and getting ready things will be easier. The next step is getting things wrote down everyday to help propel you forward. Things that if you did them would move you closer to success. In this episode I talk about writing down 3 things that when done will help you move forward. We are excited for the future because it is bright with endless opportunities, we just have to find them. Everyone be blessed.

    I was taught in my teens that if you leave or are laid off from a company and done so with good terms and good history you are likely to get work elsewhere. I was also taught that if you screwed up and they fire you, try to leave with them in decent terms by just admitting you screwed up and you wish you could have the chance to make it right, shake their hand and leave. It goes a long way, and I got a (granted small) job back this way.

    On Georgia video Jacob. I've been watching you for awhile and you have some good points in a real good attitude towards our profession. I'm a retired pipeline welder myself. My retirement was not of my own choosing I have lost my sight in my left eye. And I don't believe I can make 1104 test would just one eye. I run a rig truck since 1979 January of that year. Started structural when I was in the military and came out this truck show got into heavy equipment they got in the oil field work then got into distribution gas and then got in transmission gas and then went back to distribution then got into Bridge work and relocated to North Carolina 15 years ago and then just about four and a half years ago my sight started going my left eye. Sorry about this long book I'm writing you I want an Air Force veteran surf 1972 to 1978. My phone was supposed to say serve not surf sorry about that. Anyway Jacob the gioi list until you be cool dude oh by the way I'm 67 years old like I said I run a rig truck and old one since January of 79 and always will want your rig welder you're always be a rig welder. Thanks buddy looking forward to it your next post. Mark Scott transplanted Texan to North Carolina. Goodbye buddy be safe keep your doors locked in your pistol cocked cuz the boogeyman is out there.

      One thing that was bringing in some constant cash before the pandemic, was homemade signs cut outs from either 1/16 or 1/4 plate. I had people ask for a texas star for their gates, decorative lettering for their pits, headache window guard design for their truck. And if it aint making signs, then make some small BBQ pits. Nothing too big either, otherwise you will get people that will say they can get it cheaper at walmart, but little do they know that those pits are very thin and will wear out fast if they constantly grill.

    • @guskohlin5347
      @guskohlin5347 4 года назад +2

      Thank you for going out of your way to personally answer my question. This is really a question. The part that I’m having trouble understanding is why does the supply and demand of oil interfere with the amount of work available to you if your job is to fabricate new pipe lines? I had to really think about this before responding, I’m a welder, not an economist, not a business owner. The best answer I have been able to come up with is that it comes down to Spending Power. If oil and gas companies are receiving less revenue they’re going to invest less money into creating new oil and gas lines-therefore not hiring you. Am I getting close? Thanks again I spend a lot of time watching and rewatching your videos and Seeing a response from you was a pleasant surprise

    • @draperwd86

      Some shops that are still active throughout this coronavirus, are shops with plenty of backlog (orders not completed) so its pretty safe to assume that they still have work until they finish the backlog. Upper management estimates how long the orders will be done, and if they know workers will be standing while waiting for quotes or PO's they report that to the production manager, and it goes up in the authority chain. Then, they make a decision if they should lay off a few workers, or ride it out and hope for the best. Unless the customer decides to halt/cancel, then thats another thing to worry.
