  • Recently had a job come in for some bushes, seemed like a perfect job for the capstan. The hole was over 4xD so I had to manage the drill temperature and coolant flow to prolong the life of the drill. We finished bored the bushes on a centre lathe whilst the capstan was drilling rather than reaming to help speed up production.

I spent three years on a Ward 3,,,all on piecework....General engineering components for torpedoes, aircraft, hydraulic pumps and valves, cigarette packing machines, nuclear reactors etc ect. We worked bell to belll, no hanging about.

Always liked the WARD lathes , as an electrician I must have moved a few in my time , I’m picking my own 2A up this weekend , no room but for a WARD we,ll have to move a motorcycle or two out.🎉

Lovely machine Owen, I’m hoping to purchase a 2A sometime this year. Got a couple of them for sale where I live in Brisbane, Australia.
Out of curiosity, how much do you think the 2A weighs?. I’m hoping a forklift will be enough to load and unload it from a car trailer. The 2A is only slightly smaller than the 3A, I believe.
