I've known of this game since it was released as Post Scriptum but I didn't get around to buying it.
I decided to buy it for 50% off during the recent sale even with the mixed reviews. I saw that the devs and the community are aware of the problems and that they intend to fix them slowly, a steam friend also recommended I try Squad 44 before Hell Let Loose since it was cheaper.
I downloaded the game and used console to boot up some maps to test controls and preformance before i joined a real game (I only have a 1050 Ti with 4 Vram so I have to run it on medium).
After I was done messing with the controls and adjusting my graphics I hopped onto a full server running Normandy and I havent had so much fun playing a game since Red Orchestra 2.
The community seems to be rather helpful and supporiting to new players, with the gunplay being amazing and reminiscent of RO2 & Insurgency, I really like the suppression mechanic aswell.

It is a CRYING SHAME most "realistic FPS" gamers right it off... They have no idea that it not only shits on HLL, but would probably be their favorite game of all time, like it is mine! 🤓🪖

I hadn't checked in on this title in a while. I was immediately struck by the how great the updated animation blending tuning is. I love watching this game (as I cannot find the time to play it). It's cinematic af, and I cannot wait to see a night battle with these new assets. Cheers.

VERY good idea... Considering the "armor system" is the most advanced in all of gaming... Well, Definitely as far as a true FPS sim goes!
@@boogie5 it is just very difficult to learn while in the heat of combat. I think I've played armor once since they took away the old training map.
@@dylancarson5641 When we get our server back up, I'll see if we can run the little training map we had up.. It was a little 20 slot server and had tons of cool armor stuff. pen info etc.
One of the most things I am looking forward is to get very dense, waving and super long render range for foliage. All that to make spotting much harder. And we got significant improvement with this update, keep it going.

HLL has beautiful gfx sure... within the first 100m or so. Anything beyond that, where REALISTIC deep engagements happen, Squad 44 has the advantage in SPADES!!! The gunplay is far superior, I mean, it's not even close!
My favorite thing about Post Scriptum was the beautiful environments. I once caught myself pausing mid attack to take in the sunlight splashed across the valley in a small french village. It was just like those war films where the guys are patrolling through the woods, then suddenly the wood line opens up and they see that exact same thing. Simply breath taking. Then I walked inside of a building.
Glad they're finally fixing that immersion breaking aesthetic shift. Probably start playing again, it's been a while.
These updates are amazing - running into a room with signs of the inhabitants - books strewn across the floor, lifts the immersion through the clouds.

AcTuAlLy wallpapers were used to cover brick and stone walls, which had a tendency to get cold. Covering it with wallPAPERS made room keep temperature for longer. (why tf am I explaining wallpaper concept under a Squad44 video?!)

I'm happy they finally put the Ruby and the 1892 revolver in the game. The french being equipped with 1873 Chamelot Delvigne revolvers was kinda ridiculous.

@@boogie5 Yeah I'm really sad Beyond the Wire just died on the vine. I remember when they introduced realistic MP18 squads and the germans would just gank the enemy team every round. It was also the first game that had ICO like gameplay in the Squad engine.

I got gifted this game, I've never played it, and yet, every update makes me want to jump on and play.

I've owned Post Scriptum/Squad 44 since September of '19, but haven't actually played it much outside of the practice range - none of my friends are very interested in the game unfortunately

That is something they have definitely talked about (it's in a video I did a couple months or so)
@@boogie5 I watched it. It has been in talks for years and hasn't happened. Plus it is only talks for 100 player servers. I feel like the devs need to do something to pull people away from HLL. Having more players in a server then Squad and HLL could be one of those things to help. I also feel like Pacific content should be a priority. No other title is currently running anything with the Pacific Theater.

The only thing I would like to see is the same gun mechanic like Squad with their new combat infantry overhaul. I found to easy to land shoots in Squad44 and that leeds to gun fight not very ww2 realistic

1] The nerfed jogging with added water bottle animation.
2] The idiotic weapon sway after you sprint.
3] The very restrictive ticket-based system?

@@boogie5 Oh yeah I just redownloaded it and it runs so much better on max settings. Back when it was Post Scriptum I had to play on low settings to get acceptable framerates and the graphics were such a blurry mess with constant fucking crashes.

I've tried getting my friends to get this game but all of them say it doesn't look fun and it "looks boring". I mean since we are all 14-16 (I'm 15) they dont like WW2 to the extent I do, and most people my age dont but I'm still trying to get them to buy it when its on sale.
On another note I love how the game got a new dev team a while ago since it is one of my favorite games of all time. I hope they have more than just the one year they have planned.

Ahh I have this game, tried it couple times, nobody helps noobs they’ll just leave you at spawn points take a vehicle leave you behind grab a helicopter by themselves. It’s the community not the game why the game will die.
you have to introduce yourself, say you are new, IF you are not taken in by a TALKATIVE Squad Leader, you need to move to another squad... there are PLENTY of players that would love to show you the ropes! It would be worth going to my Playlists and checking out my Squad 44 Guides playlist!

You speak as if wallpaper is out of style? Several rooms in my home are wallpapered only the house is 100 yrs old & it appears my wife's great aunt & uncle last papered there walls during the 1950s. I can scrape further down to maybe 1920s. Okay I guess it's dated since I've only pulled wallpaper down and repaired all that damn broken plaster with sheet rock which I also hate. Too much maintenance & now squad 44 will have furniture and everything we've wanted over the years and gave up on and loved the game anyway. Now there's more to love. Cya soon.

I don't know, just played for a bit after having to mess with .ini's to use my arrow keys and not being able to use the numpad ... IT@S 2024 ffs.. This messes my whole lefty playstyle up lol.
Anyway, I really like the effects, the shooting, the smoke, the supression, the scope of the maps and the length of matches and how people are taking it seriously.
But to me it just seems like another game (like Arma) where it all depends on many random factors if the match will be any good. And This game will never receive the updates it further needs if the playerbase stays below 1000. For example all the other houses are empty still and there is just no immersion in the landscape, it's so boring and stretched out.
Will give it another go when more people are online, but i see myself playing HLL more and maybe pick up squad for the modern warfare, probably getting a refund on this one if it does not convince me that it has a place in my rotation of games.
Ps legit why can i not bind my arrow keys or use the numpad, what in tarnation xD xD
That is strange, might be something with your actual keyboard... I know the numpad is supposed to work as talking to specific SLs are on the numpad.. That is exactly what is going on... SIX Fobs are now buildable, you can build RIGHT ON THE POINT, all members of the squad can build, even Fobs themselves, TONS of new buildables and emplacments... they are doing exactly that.. the initial "logi nerf" was something to do with untangling spagetti code.. but we are way past that now!

I'd rather have the pacific theater and less spawn camping asswholes then I may reinstall the game, but since I've cut the game out of my life I've felt... something lift off of me, I feel better for not playing the game

Yeah the additional assets are cool add a nice atmosphere. The lighting has definitely improved as well.....looks like Old Post Scriptum sometimes. Also one of my favorite games....even if I have to play the Chinese Server (the only server that is populated or open for me when I play). Needless to say, comms is an issue but fun still.

yeah, MoiDawg did a video about this... sometimes you have to refresh several times until local servers load up. its a rather new bug that came with some kind of epic games update to the OWI core. hopefully it will be fixed soon
