Press REC. the Step button should be lit. Hold down Step and press pad 15 (menu). Turn the knob until you see Dupl (duplicate) and hit enter. DONE. You should have 16 as last, and by this it will dupl till 32. And so on.
I haven't tried a RD-8, but it is usually $150 more than a T-8. The RD-8 is going to have more sound modification ability than the T-8 probably, but I think you go with the RD-8 if you want limitless connectivity to other things. That's a huge strength of that device. I don't have a T-8, but I tested one out for at least a half hour at Knobcon. When it first came out I wasn't overly excited about it because I have a PO-32 Tonic for my portable drum machine needs. But then I got the S-1, and once you get around the Shift functions and menu dives, I liked that device. So when I tested out the T-8, I liked it way more than I thought I would. It's immediately accessible if you are coming from the S-1. Sync between other compact Aira's or PO's is straightforward to get a jam going. I didn't get a good feel for working with the limited basslines that you can create on the T-8, but I'm sure a little bit of practice and looking the manual would help me get there. So now I'm seriously considering getting a T-8 and maybe even the J-6. Honestly, the only thing holding me back from buying both right now is that there is no song mode. Sure, you can have 64-step patterns, which is awesome, but I'd love to be able to sequence several consecutive patterns on the S-1 with the T-8 and/or the J-6 and have them play in sync while I modulate the sounds with the knobs, or try to play guitar over the top of both of them while routing everything through my R20 multitracker. So for me, I don't need the massive connectivity options of the RD-8. I'd rather stay compact and battery powered, get the T-8, and then use the extra $150 on getting me close to also picking up the J-6. But that's just me and my thoughts. Your needs might be totally different. Either way, I would play around with the S-1 for awhile first, and get a good feel for that before deciding to jump at the sister T-8 device.
@@GazRendar Thanks for the extensive feedback. I want to do the same thing, combining old school (guitar & piano) with current machines, but the drum elements on the T-8 are a bit limited: no cymbals, only one tom, no cowbell. That's why i 'm having 2nd thoughts about it.
I just bought my s1, tring to get my head around synth as I'm a drummer. I also got the rd8 and t8. Both are awesome. The rd8 has the classic 808 sound.

If you have an Arturia keyboard you should be able to use the MIDI out on the keyboard and connect that to the MIDI IN on the S-1. Most Arturia keyboards have a 5-pin MIDI out, so you will need a TYPE A 3.5mm TRS to 5-pin MIDI adapter cable to make that connection. If you have a sequence that you made on your Nord, it would be a similar connection as the Arturia keyboard to the S-1.
@@GazRendar Thanks for you answer but arturia mk 2 does not have midi output. he connect with laptop with usb cab. Nord and other synthesizers are connected through my Motu Ultralight Mk3 card and the card only has one MIDI output. What should I do in this case when connected via an audio card?

Hi, I sometimes sculpt a new sound and want to save it to a new "patch" without destroying the current patch that I started from... is this the best (or only) way to do that? Hope that makes sense. thanks
I'm pretty sure that's the only way. That's how I do it. Copy and paste the whole pattern (which will include all patch parameters) into a new slot and then tweak it. You can back up the patterns to a computer too, but that's kinda cumbersome.
I don't think. I think that's only tied to where ever the volume out knob is positioned. I don't think there is a digital parameter that is saved with that knob.
Sadly, as of version 1.02, there is no pattern chaining. You can play a pattern live, and then manually hit another pattern and when the first pattern finishes, it will move to the next pattern. But you cannot chain patterns like you can with say, a Pocket Operator. I actually asked a Roland rep about this while at a music show and he said that it wasn't on their radar to make a pattern chaining feature on the Aira line. I tried to explain that it would be a very welcome feature that seems like an easy firmware fix, but I have no idea if Roland will deliver it.
@@GazRendarthis is a MAJOR bummer, this lacking feature really limits the usefulness of this device for my capability level. I am not very experienced / talented with these synths, so playing “live” is very difficult for me. But chaining patterns (like on the PO) is something that I can actually do to make music! Is the woovebox the go-to portable synth that I can use to make complete songs with pattern chaining?

I just bought an S-1. I wanted to buy a T-8 too, but I have my doubts. Should I buy a Behringer RD-8 instead? I like to hear your opinion.
