    are the supercaps really a part of that thing?

    • @TechForumTesla
      @TechForumTesla 5 лет назад +5

      Those are not super caps. They are merely standard caps to reduce current ripple at the controllers.

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  5 лет назад +16

      Marco Reps yeah, these are the small 350F Maxwell Supercapacitors, good for up to 170Amps. I emailed Maxwell asking if there was any problem paralleling then with my battery at much higher current draw (+800A). As I was expecting they will help with the ripple/surge first (as they’re much lower internal resistance compared to the battery) but then after few seconds will be empty and the battery takes over the hard job. They’ll help but I’m not expecting a massive boost. If you do the maths, Supercaps vs LiPo, you always get more value and performance adding more LiPo than investing in a supercapacitor system to improve performance. Anyway, I’ll fit them in my trike just for fun hahaaa

I also am really stoked about the idea of beeing able to do/understand both the electronics and mechanical aspects of my projects! Beeing able to combine those skills will make for a good result I believe! I'm inspired by elon.. You have been going on this project for 5 or 6 years, so when will it be finished? What is your plan? Are you going to sell them or what? What is the point of a fast E-Trike unless it is legal to use it? Love the concept of separate belt-driven motors as I have loads of problems with my Bafang BBSHD on my HPV Scorpion with drive train slippage and bang, crash, wallop noises from my derailleurs and dropped chain from my 65T chainring???

    What are the cheapest decent batteries i could buy for my electric dirt-bike build (50KW) best price i've found so far is £3 per cell (samsung 30Q)

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  5 лет назад +4

      Joe hey mate, Samsung 30Q are junk... this is why they’re so cheap... they are “disposable” like these cordless tools batteries. 30Q is the 25R (high discharge “disposable cell used in cordless tools) slightly modified for higher capacity. Very unstable, if you don’t have a good BMS they go out of balance, massive drop in capacity... in general Samsung cells aren’t that good, 30Q and 26F (both pink) avoid dramas. Get Sony VTC6 higher capacity and higher discharge, available in Europe from a reliable website ru.nkon.nl/sony-us18650vtc6.html

    Why you are using super capacitor?

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  4 года назад +2

      These aren’t really powerful enough for this project but supercaps or very big capacitors helps reducing the voltage sag (drop) under load specially quick bursts of power, capacitors deliver power faster than batteries (increase performance and reduce stress on the battery pack)

      @@BrunoPOWEEER Absolutely.. it's not something you expect in a universe that follows the laws of physics!
      Maybe some traction control could be devised, or add more batteries further forward and lower?
      Extending the rear wheel backwards by 3 metres would also help! :-)

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  5 лет назад +2

      Andy Lee Robinson hahahahaa I’m trying everything here, batteries used to be under the trike super Lowe nearly kissing the road but was very impractical and could barely leave my workshop. I measured front and rear wheels weight and I needed more weight at rear for traction and longer trike to avoid wheelies... hopefully after these non-scientific improvements it handles better than before, otherwise 3 metres wouldn’t be s bad idea, need to try that one too!!

    Y didn't you simply add weights to the front when your front was coming up from the ground might even help stabilize the trike a thought at least that's what Mercedes did with their sls all electric

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  5 лет назад +2

      Yeaaahh I actually tested lots of different options (nothing will be perfect) and realised that the trike was way too short, one of the reasons why it was lifting up. Extending the trike helped stabilising and keeping the front wheels down. I used to have the batteries under the seat for an even weight distribution (under the seat - middle) but when I weighed both the front and rear axles with me on top, the rear was way too light and easily losing grip even at high speed. The only weight that I could shift around was the batteries and I am further in relation to the rear wheel. Everything seems much better on the scales. This is a bizarre project, everything is super weird but fun and very challenging =]

    42kw is about 1/20 the power of a formula one.
    I think the vehicle should come with steering and brake system that handles such amount of power.

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  5 лет назад +1

      Yeahhh it’s actually 1/6 not too far from the Formula E
      “With 250kW of power, the Gen2 will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 2.8-seconds and go on to a top speed of 280km/h”
      www.fiaformulae.com/en/discover/cars-and-technology
      The biggest difference is the weight, only 36kg in this previous video ruclips.net/video/sRH_cpCwNDs/видео.html
      This is why I added an adjustable steering dumper, front air suspension and dual hydraulic front brakes, the original brakes couldn’t handle stopping this thing hahaha..
