Thanks for this comparison. Very interesting and learned some stuff too. I used to love watching the stock cars run. I kinda got out when it went to what it's like today. I could really get back into stock cars again with these kits. AND they are made in the USA!!
I think I need...NEED one of these! I remember watching NASCAR with my Dad (I was all of 9 in 71), and this car is one of my first stock car memories. And, David Pearson's red and white Purolator Mercury.
Good video, 👍. Wanted to share with you I picked up a 80 Monte Carlo Petty kit at ACME. Well when I got that evening I was looking at box art and realized it was an autographed. Not on the wrap but on the box. I remember Richard Petty signed a select amount for Salvinos. I got a great deal on because I bought a few from this vendor. So I. Leaving it sealed.
Excellent!!! I am really enjoying the history mark!!!! The cars back in the early 70s and even late 60s were better looking cars. Better curves..lines…thanks mark.
lol yep back in the day there were all the same as you said but I think I got every new kit that ever came out , this is a nice kit for sure I had been working on building this kit for same time now and then we get this really cool one . can't wait to see your build on this as I know it's going to be over the top cool thanks for the look nice video and enjoyed looking forward to your next video👍
Enjoyed watching your unboxing and comparisons. A lot of nice things about the Salvino's RR that has been much awaited. The one thing that looks incorrect compared to the MPC and the Buford resin is the C-pillar and rear window. I guess if we're filling holes on our modeling shelves, we'll have to accept that.
@@MarkBatsonHobbydude007 "Proper", Roadrunner? Not by a long shot. Aside from the horrible, generic chassis, this body is all over the place. The Road Runners were a full ten inches shorter than the Chargers. This kit is nearly the same length. The hood is wrong (close, but wrong), the C-pillar is wrong, rear window cant is wrong, too wide at the doors, too tall at the doors, rear bumpers are misshapen and toy like with huge sink marks. This one's a fail as far as I am concerned.
Most excellent review and video my friend! Old School RULE! ✊🏻😎 Will be getting a couple of these beauties in support of Salvinos....👍🏻 It's funny how I used to hate....HATE, this body style before, now I rather like it. '71 Dodge and Plymouth done right and painted all black just look menacing, pure evil, Christine 2.0! I hope that all is well at your end of the trenches....🤜🏻🤛🏻🍻
@@MarkBatsonHobbydude007 Right back at you brother....wish you a most enjoyable and productive, buildwise, weekend.... As uncle Luka say, keep cutting that styrene, keep gluing those fingers....
If you look closer at the decals you will notice that is NOT the Winston decal, it is the NASCAR race car decal. The Winston decal for 1971 was a one year only design that was oval shaped (see the MPC sheet). The Salvinos sheet apparently doesn't include the Winston decal.
Thanks Daniel!! You are correct! I said Winston but it was the NASCAR logo. My bad. Salvino’s did mention due to the tobacco “thing” it had to be omitted. Have a great weekend!!
Nice comparison bud. Just a few issues like the back C post at rear window wrong angle, but I am still going to build a dozen.😃 I think mpc based their version on A test car petty ran. I have a shot of a flat hood, recessed center grill like mpc. Ace has a phenomenal sheet coming out for that car. Thanks for comparing cars bud.👍👍
@@KevinWhite-zb5os Hey Kevin. I did NOT delete your comment!! Your comment was posted under Jim Zeth's thread. I even Thanked you for the post! I'm looking at it now!
"Chassis from the 70s"??? Yes. It SHOULD have a Mopar B body base chassis. So a model builder could use the chassis from any one of a great many Mopar model kits in 1/25 scale and fit the roll cage and fuel cell and other components to it. As to price, European model kits (and how much selection of those are available) retail here in a vastly larger market (which should make for lower prices) for close to the European price for an American limited production kit.
@@dustymojave The problem is that the import for Europe is in the hand of FALLER!And they are greedy bastards! They nearly import every US Kit(except Revell/Monogram!!So they have the monopoly!Revell Kits you can buy between 25 and 35 Euro!R2 Kits are already up to 35-45!And Salvinos?forget it 😂And about the chassis, yeah they should use a production car chassis for cars from the "Grey Years"But i was talking about the kit chassis that i think never existed during the 70s on real cars in NASCAR!
Definitely see one of these kits in my future. Lol. Where can you find paint close to the correct Petty blue? Last Petty kit I built I had to use Walmart sky blue and it wasn’t anywhere near the correct color. Keep up the great work!!!

You're a great builder but let's be honest about the rear window? It's not correct for this car! You can be honest without being mean! They'll probably still send you kits! Also the unicorn chassis should be gone! It's a cheap out!

Why is the back window so huge compared to the others?
Not sure Gregg. I’m told the files were scanned from the car at the Petty museum.
