Thanks for sharing your experimenting and practice. For a beginner like me, watching even beginner lessons can be kind of daunting. It's good to be reminded that accomplished artists have done a lot of experimenting and learning, and that --especially with watercolors--learning is fun.
What a lovely loose way to paint in watercolor! You are certainly an inspiration. I am going to try the "five-stroke technique" and see what happens- Thank you.
Hi Angela, just watched your abstract work end enjoyed. Now watched this and something "clicked" in brain: hey, you are left handed like me, which makes video so much easier to follow!! Understand the brush strokes and curves (mine always want to go the other way from usual demos) and some dvd's just have a mental block with. So rare to see a left handed artist. Keep up the good work and get more online for us "left handies"!
I'm a 1st year student of interior design here in the philippines, we frequently use water color on some of our plates, drafts and sketches, and I haven't used water color since then, I tried looking for tutorials and techniques on applying water color, thank god I found your channel. :D I like your techniques and I actually applied it in some of my projects my teacher really likes it, your videos are such a great help thank you so much :D hope to see more videos to come :)
You asked about a spray bottle that works up side down. I use a pump spray bottle. Mine has no maker's mark on it. You pump out the air from the bottom causing a vacuum pressure. Hope you find what you want.
I learned a 5 stroke technique too but the one i learned was you do the 5 strokes let them dry and then repeat the 5 stroke process as wanted i hope i don't sound like a look at me type thing but I thought you might find it interesting...
Hello!! I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Your 5 stroke exercises are fantastic. I am FAMOUS for overworking my art. Your berries are really beautiful! Thank you for sharing so much !!
hi im out looking for anybody how has some spear art supplies in the watercolor area to donate to me i live in Australia and i m in a wheelchair so i can't get out much because of my sickness and spend most of my money on medical stuff so i can't afford to buy many art supplies kind regards Peter Rose
Angela, sweetie, I like what you do very much but the way you defined the exercise you missed the point entirely. I have as suggestion. As we can never understand the full scope of beauty as mere mortals, stop using your rational brain. Paint what you feel, even with eyes closed envisioning the subject in your imagination. Feelings are not rational but are pure nature. Allow your instincts and intuition to paint the five lines, repeating over and over for the rest of your life. Then you will begin to feel the glory of abstraction and true creation. Condensed version: stop thinking and allow nature to channel through your hand. Hope it's helpful. D
Sadly your piece has nothing to do with „5 stroke technic“ because every (!) stroke counts, you did about 20 only for basic shape. I guess you‘re a good painter and evolved until the video, just wanted to tell you.

I love how you speak out loud your thought process. It's really helpful

another great inspirational quick warmup to work with...thank you Angela!

Exactly what I'm trying to achieve! Thank you.
Hello!! I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Your 5 stroke exercises are fantastic. I am FAMOUS for overworking my art. Your berries are really beautiful! Thank you for sharing so much !!
Love this idea! What type of paint do you prefer, if you don't mind me asking.
Very nice, thanks Angela, so far your tutorials tell me what i need to know, 😊😊
This is true watercolour skill - love it
Just so love what you do...
Love this. I follow your blog and I didn't know you had videos too.
Thank you for sharing with us!
I love the "Hey, Mom!"
I love your videos! I need to take a workshop:) you have a very calm way about you.
Absolutely love this five stroke exercise. It turned out so beautifully! Xox
Well, not really five strokes, is it?
J.J. Hawk not quite, but I love the concept. If I tried this, I'd turn 5 into 50 very quickly!!! Haha
Gorgeous! Your kids were so young then. 🥰
Very Interesting Call it exploding Berries. Keep up the great work.
i love your paintings
fabulous. exactly my problem too. over-painting, too much detail. want to change my style..tired of "realistic" want more " suggestion" of subject.
thanks for the encouragement
FYI-
I watch your videos multiple times :)
This was an interesting excercise and fun to watch. TFS! Karen
keep going, your so talented !
Great idea for a beginner like me to also not feel the stress of making a full product
Very interesting and very relaxing. It came out beautifully :)
I'm curious what paper you use?
thats pretty good for 10 strokes in total! 5 or 10 strokes would be hard for me!
❤❤❤❤❤
5 applications
Hi there how come your watercolour paper doesn't go all wavy and weird?
beware of someone (savoie) who begins by calling you "sweetie" then follows with "you missed the point entirely"
really? entirely.. ?
Amazing! subscribed :)
im just starting WC and i dnt think i understand this painting not being judgy im sure ur super good can someone explain it to me
Oh my goodness, Saskatoon berries! Are you from Saskatchewan too?
haha kept watching the video, and heard you say you're in BC. I'm also in BC now too. Cool!
5 strokes eh!?!?
i want to be your shadow, or at least your best friend!
It looks like a fairy
Oof

Mine still looks like a big turd wipe. Ugh.
You know what your talking about , but background noise is very bad
would it be possible to turn OFF the background 'music'. It is very distracting.... thank you
thanks so much. I am enjoying learning your 4 stroke method.
Sorry, your pic didn't do anything for me. It was too loosely defined

Or nah.
Deborah Savoie oh grow up!
Deborah Savoie condescending much? Get over yourself.
making more like ten strokes and calling it 5 is a bit disingenuous, don't you think?

wasted so much time in mixing colors
