True. For Shaolin monks, martial arts isn't only just for fighting, self-defense and protection for the temple. It is also to help them maintain a strong and healthy body. They believe that the healthier the body is, the longer it can withstand long meditations, and with more meditation comes enlightenment.
Impressive. VERY Impressive. I credit my Shaolin training with helping me mentally /phsycially fight cancer and NEVER surrendering to the negativity that surrounds the disease.
I have seen a SHAOLIN MONKS WORLD TOUR mall show in our city 6 years ago (Lucena City, Philippines). They showcased their talent: the sword handling, the frog, the snake, the monkey, the eagle, the drunken monkey, the preying mantis etc. It was the best show i have ever seen.
Very few people have the determination and fortitude necessary to learn what these monks learn. Training their bodies and learning these arts is not something they do for a few years to look cool with weekend breaks in-between -- this is a way of life for them. Every day, rain or shine, their bodies and minds are trained with the goal of finding enlightenment. I have nothing but respect for these cats and their near inhuman dedication.
Behold the skill and discipline of these kids. Not only will they one day become awesome masters in their own right, bringing honor to the Temple, but they'll possess the courage to endure through life whatever path they take. That is the enduring legacy of Shaolin.
Kung Fu is about mastering the mind, body, spirit, and the heart. Only one who devotes their time and effort to mastering martial arts may succeed in their training.
This kind of training would be considered child abuse in Europe. Discipline doesn't come into it. It's impressive, of course, but the price is very, very high.
I'm uber impressed and amazed by this video. Their skills are amazing plus the teamwork and timing in what they're doing also. Wonder if it would be possible to become that flexible & fit starting in mid-twenties? (I'm already fit enough, not their level though and I go to gym all the time).
I tried to learn this from a book... from videos... Finally gave up and now I'm taking kickboxing lessons. Still want to learn Shoalinquan someday though.
Yes, it is definitely possible. I can attest to it because I have been doing Shaolin kung fu for one year now and have just accomplished the splits. I started when I was 24, now 26. It takes more patience and a lot of hard work as you get older, but it is possible. Good luck! =)
well i asked one of the guys who worked at the temple as a translator, and i asked him what i should do since im going as well. The best way to condition yourself is to work on your flexibility and your cardio. so lots and lots of stretching and even more running and jogging. im sure youll be well prepared by then.
i really wish i could train like these guys. Ive trained since i was 16 and i now have a knee injury and i cannot train anymore. I have lost all enthusiam about marital arts. I just watch videos like this one.
i cant exactly remember right, but i did a bit of research on shaolin monks a few years back and they originally trained in kun fu because i think bandits kept raiding the temples, so they trained in order to use whatever weapon they had to defend themselves. Brooms, sticks etc. Not only for the but for spiritual reasons aswell.
i get decicated alot but it only lasts for song long.. months then i drift off to other things.. This is the type of thing u need to be encourged to do so u will keep training and never stop.. Like monks or be focused only on this.. But im a regular person and i cant give my whole life to this so I dont focus on it as much as other people.
The legs have 3 times the striking power compared to the arms. What you learn in Tae Kwon Do is how to fight with your legs and still be able to keep your balance after the strikes, which nullifies the sideeffect of the powerful kicks.
actually Kung Fu was developed much before the man you are referring to came about to China. The only thing the Indians did to affect Kung Fu is adding A.)Buddhism. and B.)Setting a new standard for fitness for the Chinese monks. The reason they set a new standard for fitness for the monks was because the Chinese monks could not keep up with the Indian monks when it came to spiritual training but now instead of doing what the Indian monk told them to do, they practice a form of Kung Fu.
It's located in Dengfeng, China, specifically. I considered going there a few years ago (but my employment and financial situation has taken a turn for the worse). Although the monks at the temple not longer teach the public, China Shaolin Temple Kung Fu School is authorized to teach on the premises, and, from what I understand, many excellent schools have sprung up both nearby and elsewhere, once the temple quit teaching the public. I am not qualified to give any meaningful recommendations
A friend told me that martial arts and weapons used in martial arts (like the staff and hook swords) is what makes true warriors, and that those who weild guns are cowards. I agree with him. And I respect the Shaolin to a high degree.
if thats the reason you'd do it, than your doing it for the wrong reason yes training the body is excellent, but expanding you level of consciousness along with the spirit is priceless.
@VizzeOne its good thing you know its just in shaolin the kids are adopted to train their init if u went to shaolin temple thts very nice alteast these kids train alot unlike other kids they dont have decipline like these children
Originally they learned because many bad guys were like "Oh hey, there's a Buddhist temple with tons of gold statues and a bunch of weak idiot monks all alone in the middle of the forest. Anyone feeling a raid?" Also many people during wars would take refuge at the temple, they learned how to fight to defend their temple. I believe the last time the Shaolin monks fought in an actual battle was when they fought the Japanese Empiral army during WWII. The Japanese respected them and let them live
Agree with you. Shaolin kungfu is no longer used for the martial purpose now days. Lots of fighting skills have lost since the gunpowder weapons were introduced into the war. One interesting note is that the founder of Shaolin kungfu, named "bodhidharma", is an Indian.
yeah they do, im low on the money myself so i have to wrok for it. but a full year there including room, food, etc etc is about4-5 thousands dollars. and thats training everyday, everything payed for (save for money to go out to the market) and two weeks vacation
Well you are already more prepared than the majority of people who go there. Most people who go there to train dont have any pre training at all so you are well on your way my friend
@LoCoLaG thats because the elements and bending styles are of actual martial arts firebending: Wushu kung fu waterbending: tai chi Earthbending: Tae Kwon Doe airbending:Shaolin kung fu they wanted bending to look cool so they looked up these martial arts styles and even put qualities of the elemts accordingly to the martial arts in avatar water bending can heal and tai chi is a style of chi and healing :) lol

lol? I agreed with you until " even a well trained Adult Shaolin Monk would not stand a chance against any UFC top contenders". I agree that UFC fighters are extremely well skilled fighters/martial artists but I think youre underestimating these Shaolin Monks. There conditioning are different and more extreme/more disciplined and I bet that these Shaolin Monks can do things with ease that UFC fighters will have difficulty doing. so the "not stance a chance" is quite ignorant
Nah. Kung Fu is artistic fighting style. UFC/Boxe/Muay Thay fighters cuould easily beat an Kung Fu fighter. It obviously depends on the athlete skills. But anyway. That's true. 🤷🏻♂️
I see why they decided to make this the Air style of fighting for the series Avatar, and why Aang was designed to be a monk. The whole style is remarkable!
@Harrypotterfan334 Girls are usually not allowed to become a Monk, the tasks of Monks were mainly to protect their way or to protect something valuable to them. Women were to remain about their daily lives to live under the protection of the Monks.
Considering that ordinary people have "healed" cancer without surgery or chemotherapy, I'd say it's definitely within the realm of an extremely fit, healthy monk.
They have so much power and incredible control.... I don't care if you think you can beat them.. No degree of experience in street fighting will make a difference.. They have dedicated their lives to this.. You will lose.
How incredibly positive that was. It's left me feeling strong

I could watch these guys all day
Impressive. VERY Impressive. I credit my Shaolin training with helping me mentally /phsycially fight cancer and NEVER surrendering to the negativity that surrounds the disease.
Go on a strict zero sugar diet for 10 months. Trust me don't ask, just do it.
the skill and dedication in these children is tremendous i applaud them for thier accomplioshments

Such. Dedacation to their art.
Love watching them .May. there Art etc never be forgotten

So graceful and powerful, yet so young... Who thought that children could be so inspiring?
Kung Fu is about mastering the mind, body, spirit, and the heart. Only one who devotes their time and effort to mastering martial arts may succeed in their training.
Amazing! Such incredible skills and talent. Well done guys!
I wish Europeans had some discipline and dedication like this.
British army training is quite strict
This kind of training would be considered child abuse in Europe. Discipline doesn't come into it.
It's impressive, of course, but the price is very, very high.
This is absolutely beautiful. Something inside me draws me to it. Its wonderful. And Those dedicated kids are so bad ass.
No there is no bad ass don't use degenerate reverse meaning from united statian slang.
imagine the same warriors 1,000 years ago
Could you imagine watching that battle... An army of these guys would be the most impressive display of human melee combat imaginable.
Buenas noches me gusta este video siempre soñe con estar dentro de un templo shaolin para aprender muy bueno gracias saludos a todos Namasté.
I'm uber impressed and amazed by this video. Their skills are amazing plus the teamwork and timing in what they're doing also.
Wonder if it would be possible to become that flexible & fit starting in mid-twenties? (I'm already fit enough, not their level though and I go to gym all the time).
the moment when a kid will kick my ass
They are so coordinated and timed you can put a song to it and it looks like a dance routine!
Very very very very nice video! Also love the music.
I tried to learn this from a book... from videos... Finally gave up and now I'm taking kickboxing lessons. Still want to learn Shoalinquan someday though.

Started my first kung fu class today! It was awesome :D
i really wish i could train like these guys.

Trés trés trés Impressionant ! Si jeune et déja si fort !

love them all
@ericou812, it is Zen buddhism and the monks' devotions for their belief that people like us should thank.
1:34-138 he did that Ling Xiaoyu shit 😂😃
Well you are already more prepared than the majority of people who go there. Most people who go there to train dont have any pre training at all so you are well on your way my friend
wow! they really accomplish alot at such a young age.
beautiful!
great synchronisation
@LoCoLaG thats because the elements and bending styles are of actual martial arts
firebending: Wushu kung fu
waterbending: tai chi
Earthbending: Tae Kwon Doe
airbending:Shaolin kung fu
they wanted bending to look cool so they looked up these martial arts styles and even put qualities of the elemts accordingly to the martial arts
in avatar water bending can heal and tai chi is a style of chi and healing :) lol

Qual o nome dessa musica?
It looks like deadly ballet. I'd love to go train with some monks one day.
This looks more like a demonstration than training. Cool none the less.

where can I download this song? awesome!
Might be true. But what flaws do you think Shaolin Gong Wu has? Imo its the most gorgeous art there is.
