- GST Meeting Outcome Update: Union Finance Nirmala Sitharaman chaired pre-Budget consultations with finance ministers of states and Union Territories to take their views. It was followed by the 53rd meeting of the GST (Goods and Services Tax) Council today.
GST Council exempts services by way of hostel accommodation outside educational institutions up to ₹ 20,000 per person per month. However, the condition will be the student must have stayed in the hostel for a continuous period of 90 days. The condition has been introduced to prevent hotels from taking advantage of the exemption.

Hey you have forgotten taxes on people who use public toilet s, pl make 30%GST for that . Then pl introduce garbage tax of Rs500 for every house in Urban and Rs1000/- for rural.
You can also introduce birth tax for new born child, and death tax Rs.10000/- for a person of 50+, Rs.5000/-for a person lower than 50yrs, anybody unable unable to pay death tax their body can be sold to medical institutions

When paying taxes, taxpayers should be given more autonomy and control over how their contributions are utilized. Rather than having their tax payments automatically allocated by the government, individuals should have the option to choose whether to direct those funds towards general national development initiatives i.e. infrastructure, education etc. or to invest in free social schemes.

Services segment small business / middle segment people yearly 20 Lakhs limit . Above 20 Lakhs then GST 18 percent . This most of the people affected mind all over India .
This has to review and Must analyze GST .
The prescription range Spectacles (Glass & CR Lens and Frame) as well as contact lens should be exempted from GST tarrif. Hope, the respective GST council will consider the matter in the next meeting.
GST is kind of one way, as both states and center want more funds.

Problem here is....people must understand a fact that, whatever issues related to GST, any decisions related to GST, it is a uniform decision across all states that would required to implement and centre role is only to mediate. Yet, parties across all states, put the burden on the centre, when an increase in price of a particular product goes up due to gst implementation. Perfect example was our so called professor recent remarks on gst during elections compaign. How rediculous his thoughts were? People should try to understand the ground realities even when someone loses his mental balance while pronouncing such stupid remarks.

Supossing if x spent 1 lakh, gst charged @ 12% it's 12k. We dont know on which product is 12% or else we pay 18%. Thousands of products, we do not google which one is 12% gst or 18%. We usually know gst @ 18%.
Fno trading capital gain tax has been revised @ 30%. We only live ubder the govt who loots their fellow citizens earnings. Deduction in gst is more important than income tax over 6 lakh earning annually. If u spent 1 lakh, you pay 18k as 18% gst. If 12‰ is the official gst u r going to save 6k for every 1 lakh spent. If soent 2 lakh u save 12k and so on till expenses over shot 5 lakh.
If contested in election, people surely would have gifted her a big loss.
