- Watching the waves can prove dangerous for many spectators. On Kauai, a family -- including their young child -- was swept up by a massive wave. The terrifying scene was captured on camera.
Dear God we can only hope they had a towel.
You seems a capybara
We were taught at a young age not to turn your back to the ocean.
I would think it’s more of a common sense thing especially if the water is gnarly
The kid was not swept away he fell down
First you fall, then you get washed out. People need to use their brains. 🙄🙄
I've been there. The breakers and surges are pretty sneaky. Never turn your back to the ocean.
Ben Davis or your ex...
"A picture is worth a thousand words" . . . *I'm speechless after seeing that . . . wait
OMG they got wet. Shocking!
And hold on to your small children. Stupid is as stupid does.
he dropped his kid - barely survived this
As a moth to a flame, let Darwin ply his game.
needs some editing but you're on the right track

Thank you. Just trying it on.
They barely got wet. Calm down
People got to respect that power. Glad little girl was ok.
If something happend to them even after they've been warned... Should we still feel bad or pity? I do to the young kids. Not to the adults.
“Us locals that know the area...” dude you’re from mainland garans!
Those cameras do have a zoom option, u don't have to get some close...
People are losing there common sense or don’t have any! Smh
Refer to my new postings...
Cmon, their offspring have to be told to not eat tide pods.
I got an idea! How about if just before the airplanes full of tourists land they could show a video of hapless tourists being swept away and smashed into rocks.
Here in Niagara Falls we have a variation on this - tourists who climb over the safety rails at the brink of the Falls. Because getting two feet closer to the Falls with your camera really makes the photo so much better. Getting footage of you sliding down wet grass on an embankment on the way to your death - priceless.
This is why i always obey the signs especially these beaches that are very dangerous! its simple if says don't swim. Don't swim.
Never turn ur back to the ocean
Ai people. What the heck? Ya'll can't see the danger? Smh. I was raised on Kauai and you learn early to never turn your back to or disrespect these waters
THEY GOT THEIR FEET WET? WOW
Lumaha’i is beautiful but those waves, at least in the winter time... be careful...
Any time you see the waves at Lumahai breaking over the lava tongue in the bay, it's time to get far, far back from the water's edge.
Large shore breaking waves like these are not a problem, they're a solution.
over population is a lie
Tourists with no understanding of the ocean. Try looking at the sand below your feet, the water line is right there! Wet sand = waves!!!
what?? thats nothing
Yep, those are just little rocks. If the water wants come further in, it'll come in.
I'm sorry ....but could this be a case of natural selection ??...
dat cameraman is so chill lmao
Red iPad and all vacation photos... Scrap!
This reminds me of a few years ago a family left Alaska to vacation in Arizona in the summer-time. (Darwin Alert) They decided to hike local mountains in the middle of the day, didn't bring any water and didn't listen to locals when they were told to turn back they'd gone to far. As a result, I think a couple of them died.
Yep. 115° and 6% humidity... Dangerous. I try to hide from May until October living here 😁
Film proves that "you can't fix stupid".
People are dumb they know the danger they put themselves in that situation. Don’t compare them to us who have ocean experience and knowledge
If that wave is taller than you...RUNnnnnnn!!
Don’t underestimate Mother Nature
Screaming doesn’t help. Only running.
If they were standing there on that beach it's not that big it's big you know when nobody touches the sand
Not surprising that a bunch of comments here are arrogantly claiming this is a non-event. A small child knocked down in that water, as insignificant as people are ignorantly saying it is, could not only be injured, but more seriously carried out to sea in the backwash before an adult could stop it from happening. But so what? It's easy to be a jerk when you're sitting at your computer.
No worries dude sit at home and be safe
It's easy to be a beach chair expert and disobey officials to move the f back too. Then afterwards wonder why they were hurt. Duh.
sizone, your reply is the essence of the situation.
hebneh Not surprising you suck...
What about making some interesting very short videos that hotels can show on their television systems that show a lot of the easy to get into dangerous situations that can catch tourists unaware. They will think that it’s interesting to watch, but mothers with children need the graphic demonstrations. They will be made more alert to their surrounding.
why cant we just let "darwin" take its place again.
Natural selection in action
Is it just me or does the “local” sound like the tourist? 🤣
We get these king waves in Oregon. Dangerous!! Don’t turn your back on the ocean....✌️❤️
she tripped on that root foh
At what point in time did we lose our ability to just have basic...COMMON SENSE...just stupid..sorry. stay safe world.
there are signs that need to be ignored it seems...
Well I read that wrong.... I read kawaii wave watchers get caught off guard and came to expect something different , at least I can't be the only one who also had that misconception
And after seeing the video and the little girl knocked down with her large mother right there, they should cll it Weight Watchers.
People.who allow.a young kid go that close to huge waves are fools.
RIP
care full
Went there 2005 love the Island
Hell Yeah !
It’s ok ocean 🌊 you’ll get them next time.. keep weeding spam Mother Nature.
Haoles lmao
Simply said 😂
Don't they have signs posted?
"Ocean- lots of water here"
Looks like a few hippos about the beach
What do you expect? It's America. Care for yet another beer and hamburger ? Fries with that ?
I like the part where Karen says "These advisories need to be heard! and they need to be followed!". Is she talking about advisories or decree?
Yikes I didn't hear any warnings about high surf's. Po'o pakiki. They lucky the daughter was saved. Hope they learn their lesson. I think not. They went home laughing it off. Next idiot coming up. When do they listen???
no one died so what's the big deal?
Lolo tourists!
Dummys
People are just so stupid.
LOL
IS THIS A JOKE? LOLLLL
No such thing as mother nature 🤣. God of the Bible made the water, land, sky's, stars, sun and moon. Don't take away from God's glory and give it to mother nature.
