The “Muddy” Mackenzie!
Making the Mackenzie minimalist wallet, step by step.
Prior to construction, however, I’ll try to kick start the patina / aging processing. I estimate I can tack on a few months of aging at the onset, but no more.
I don’t want much more than that, because the very act of leather aging tells its own story. I’m not looking for a completely fake story. My goal is simply to get it started right out of the gate. Give it a head start, if you will.
Natural patina will develop over time when it absorbs and displays the world around it. Dust, dirt, water, oils, sunlight, blue jean denim dye, etc.
In all, I applied:
- Dirt
- Coffee
- Bourbon
- Maul’s Balm (almond oil, coconut oil, hempseed oil, Shea butter, cocoa butter, beezwax)
- Neetsfoot oil

Yes, there are hidden gems, eggs, treasures, etc. throughout the entire video. As usual.
Enjoy the show, the hunt, the lessons, the experience, and the fun!!!

By far the best RUclips leather maker in my opinion - great craftsmanship, helpful tips/tools, and very entertaining as well. You must have been ‘stuck’ in OBX - glad you’re back - thanks!
😆 thanks so much for that! I appreciate your support. I was stuck somewhere. Can’t even recall where.
I love that after 2 years, the YT bots never managed to catch that "Ms. September" pic lol. Bro, you're vids are awesome and you make everything look almost effortless! I'll get there one day.
😆 ms. Sept.
Thanks for the kind words!
Best aging method I have ever seen !!! But ooooh momma gonna be mad about her measuring cup. Great video keep em coming
Omg. She saw that scene during editing and said, “is that my measuring cup!!!”
Classic Mascon!! Thanks for the return to RUclips and making our day!!!
Thanks again for watching And commenting!
Wow how your mind works the patina process is so creative, Thanks for another video and sharing!
Thanks’!!
Wonderful ... and instructive video, I'm glad to see you here again after having us grounded for two months :D
Thanks! The support is appreciated! More coming soon. Stay tuned.
If i had all the bourbon I've seen you spill, I could tie one on
😆
Brilliant. Do a shop video ! Your Set up is well thought out.
Thanks!!! I may do a shop video soon
Another way to help with the patina is get some tea light candles and some felt. (I picked this one up from Tony See). It's works great too..
👍
Yep! There are 1,000s Of ways for sure. I just used what was here and easy.
@@MasconLeather I carry the prototype of my Maximus Wallet around with me as my daily. SInce it was done when my stitching skills were horrible. It went from a light brown to a darker brown, but the patina is beautiful. And that was just with six months of being in my pocket while I work my day job.
Exactly!!! A few months in a denim pocket and daily use. Perfection.
Would love to see how it looks today , 3 years later.
Wonder if this would work with Scotch instead of Bourbon.
С 14.28 очень красивый кошелёк)))))
English translation?
Excellent work as always. That “patina potion” worked great! 🤙🏼
Thank you for that! I’m going to be carrying this wallet myself. I’ll keep tabs on the patina as time goes by
Very cool I like it thanks !
Thanks!
I bet that's going to look even better after it for real patina's... I don't want to "steal" this idea, but I sure would like to give it a try.
Do it !
You have done it again Artie. Great video👍😊
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Nice design! It's great to see another video from you. I hope you're doing well!
Thank you!!! We’re all doing well. Stay safe!
Love your shit man your killing it…
Thanks!! And thanks for watching!
Awesome work man. Your patterns never stop 🤣🤣
Thank you! And I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Amazing craftsmanship 💯
Thank you for that!
Add a touch of your favourite scent profile to the mauls balm and you have beard balm!...identical carrier group!
Really?!? Thanks !!
Even the dog is looking at you wondering why you have momna`s good measuring cup full of dirt.
This a true statement. 😆
Adding patina. Nice.. 🤟
Thanks !!
You inspire me, could be a nice hobby for me, but I don't understand the leather work :( Turkey is very good in leather and textile, I think if I joined the work-shop will be fine
Have fun!!
Keep them coming! Good stuff
Thanks!! More coming!
I no longer just set my pencil down... I hear the sound every time I open a drawer or close a cabinet. My wife is mad at me for breaking two dishes while making dinner, I threw them on the countertop too hard.
Very good work...👏👏
Thanks for that!
Hello!
What kind of black pen did you use for th edges?
Thanks
Aaron

Thanks!!! Video coming soon on that trick
I know you say this is in another video but i cant find it. Can you tell me what is the white stuff you put on the leather in the beginning?
I haven’t said it in any video yet. It’ll be revealing it soon in a video
Okay thanks!
You're awesome
Continue bro 💪
Thanks!
The forced patina turned out awesome! What's the tool you use to mark your stitch line and what's the measurement between the stitch line and the edge of the piece?
Thanks!! I just use a compass to mark the line. And the distance changes depending on the item and size

Could you tell me what's the tool in 14:01
Thanks for watching!! The tool is a modeling spoon

I just came across your channel; fantastic work! At around 2:15 you apply something to the flesh side of the leather...what are you using? And it is it just to burnish that side a bit?
Thanks for watching! Yes, it's to make the back side smooth and "pretty".
@@MasconLeather Thank you for getting back to me. Would you mind sharing what product you are using for that?
Love your work. Great "aging". Interested in the Dremel tool you use. The one you have listed in your Amazon storefront shows a "cord". Any other recommendations? Thank you.
@UC0-AiIedBCWQZrh5uE9959w Thank you! :)
@UC0-AiIedBCWQZrh5uE9959w I tried going to you "Direct to Amazon storefront" but couldn't find it there. Sorry that I am having trouble finding it. :(
Where did you get your little plastic doll???
Olivia. She was found on eBay. But not easily.
Mascon Leather thanks
sorry, I watch you mostly from my phone. I would like to know the name of the tool that you use to remove the finish from the face of the skin
