I was looking through my channel and realized I have a fair amount of "real" Motherhood content I like to call it where I talk about some of the harder parts of Motherhood, but that got me to thinking. What if, when my daughters are older they watch my channel and think "Did she even like being a mom?". So I wanted to make this video for them. To tell them Motherhood is HARD, and if they choose to become Mothers and find it's hard too that that is okay!
I also wanted to make it to tell them YES YES YES I love being their Mom!!
Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.

***MORE CONTENT LIKE THIS PLEEEEASE*** Your point of view has always been so refreshing and relateable. Yes, venting and sharing struggles need a space between moms and I love that you create it based on good values and in an inclusive way BUT I believe moms who are managing to find joy in those first 2.5 years (and beyond) should share more about THAT so the struggeling moms can be inspires and influenced for a mindset shift. As much as the validation that 'it's hard' is gratifying, it's much more uplifting to hear about the positive happy foundation and how much you enjoy it - I want that too...

My once clingy baby has become this independent little toddler and that alone has given me enough hindsight to see what was good about that first year. He still cries and clings to me sometimes, but what he is crying about is more complex so it’s harder to comfort him. And at the same time it’s awesome because his personality is coming to light as a toddler. I have a bit more time to do what I want, so long as he’s in the same area to be watched. Everything slows down when you have a newborn. Your world turns inward, and becomes small. Then slowly it opens up again, and you get to see these little humans experience the wonderful parts of life for the first time-which is kind of like you get to experience it for the first time again too. It’s challenging but so cool to be a mother.

Yes!! I have a 2-year old and a 6-week old. We co-sleep and contact nap and he is attached to me approximately 22 hours a day. I was having a hard day and had to change my perspective. I’m so glad this is MY hard. I’m so grateful that I get this time home with them to comfort and support them! Things can be hard AND good!

Tessa Romero helped me TREMENDOUSLY to make that mindset shift! You had her on the podcast & I absolutely loved that episode! One thing that she once said “things can be HARD and GOOD at the same time, HARD IS GOOD!” And that just changed everything!!!! Like you, I’ve made decisions that are not easy and even though I sometimes struggle I feel so proud of myself!!! Yes I get tired! Yes sometimes I need more sleep than I get! And THATS OK!!! “moms dont need it to be easy, we just need it to be possible!” I have decided to tell my kids (2.5 and 6 months) that I need rest, that I feel tired, that I am so happy to play with them, that I love to spend time with them, that papa and I need time to ourselves, etc. because they need to know that its all part of the whole package💜 our kids need us to be real, not perfect!
Thank you for being that real mom!

I think many moms can relate to “I haven’t had a single moment to myself so I’m going to stay up even though I might die from exhaustion” lol
My first was such a horrendous sleeper for the first 2 months. But I was still a psychopath and stayed up late because I felt like my body was completely his from all the contact naps and nursing. My husband and I eventually just stopped going to bed because it meant a longer more miserable night. Can’t wait to do it again in 20 weeks 😅 lol

Your videos, especially this one makes me so emotional. So relatable, I haven't traveled the world (would love to) and now I know from you, that being a mama is even a better experience than that could ever be. I feel so grateful to get to be home with my son from the time he was born. God is so Good!

Oh I just love you. I have probably never come across anyone in real life or online who I relate to more. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on here!!! I cried joyful tears feeling like someone knows exactly how I feel too!! You get it! Choosing the *hard* stuff like breastfeeding on demand, cosleeping, all that jazz makes motherhood intense but also so enjoyable and rewarding.

I had my first almost 6 months ago and I feel trapped that I have to be a working mom. Before I got pregnant I thought I would work and my kids would be in daycare but as soon as I found out I was pregnant I had a major mind shift. I would do anything to be able to be a stay at home mom. Unfortunately my job brings in the majority of the income and supplies our insurance and other things. It’s a major blessing that I have a job and it supplies our family with so much but I feel trapped that I have to leave my baby with others to go to this job.

I love that I got the email about decluttering AS I was downstairs decluttering and organizing our basement that has became storage 😅 took a break to listen to this and I relate, especially being stressed if I’m away from my daughter so it’s not really a break lol. Staying home with my 1 year old and having less me time is the sacrifice I’m choosing to make in this season of my life. I’ve had my time so I’m embracing all that is Motherhood ✨

  • @beckyhankins7134

My son has not been that “first born, easy going” child. 😅 But I think that’s okay. I was so scared of not knowing what to do if the baby started crying and wouldn’t stop and what if I don’t know why they’re crying? So naturally I had a crier. 😂 He had colic; and then when they’re out of the newborn stage, it’s no longer considered colic, it’s just their personality. 🥴
Something that really helped me was when someone said YOU are the mother they need. No one else. It’s gotten a lot better as we’ve entered toddlerhood, and I feel a lot more calm when we’re having meltdowns (most times. I still have my moments, because I’m shockingly human) because I know it’s going to be okay, we’re going to get through it, and he will smile again. I think part of it, too, is just adjusting to being a mom like you said. I’m a SAHM, and it can be so hard some days (teething days are just…crisis 😭), but I am so happy I get to be there for him, because it’s what I’ve always wanted to do. It’s the best job I’ve ever had, and I’m happy I was given the opportunity to do it. (Mad respect for working moms!!)

Girl read the nurture revolution. It will validate all that you do.
You’re killing it and the person who told ME you’re the mom your baby needed was specifically talking about colicky / fussy babies 🫶

My daughter is about to turn 3 and i am miserable. Ive never had the understanding, respect, or support that would allow for more ability to experience joy.
My best friend aborted her child and then became envious of me and really mistreated me. She even told me she hated me for a hundred different reasons. Then she begged me to forget what she said and blamed it on her own hormones. Wtf
