    If you use instant pot you can skip the initial 12 hour fermentation step completely.

      Actually soaking is required for 2 reasons - 1) For rice and dal to become soft to make fine paste 2) To decide if curd is required. If less bubbles after soaking urad dal, then add curd to help in fermentation
