You do good work with your videos. I appreciate all you do. It really helps me and I'm sure many others. I tried out both the Banyan and the Ridgerunner. Got to say, the Ridgerunner is my preference. The TWO ridgelines of the Banyan are a showstopper for me. Too much hassle getting in/out. The ridgerunner has everything I need and with the saddle bags more storage than I use, I have many dutch products and have been very pleased with his stuff but in this case I am going to Warbonnet for a bridge hammock. Again, thanks for all you do.
Thanks for the positivity! It's always about finding what works best for you. Personally the 2 ridge lines are what I like about the Banyan, but if that's too much for others, I completely get it!
I'm with you! I bought one too as I am also a side/stomach sleeper but I do want to be able to remove that bug net when the bugs aren't a problem! I had nearly given up hammocks for that reason but went out once so far and tried the Bridge Hammock and loved it. If you've told Dutch about it, I'd bet he'll go back to having all 4 bones on the ridgelines.

If you get a chance I'd love to see a video for under quilts on the new Banyon. Curious if a tradition gathered end under quilt would work (i.e. HG Incubator)
There is some, but it's much less than on a gathered end for sure. I have another hammock that has considerably less shoulder squeeze, the TownsEnd Luxury UL Hammock.
Sure, you can rig it up to do something, but it's not going to hold items quite the same as it does while it's fully attached to the ridge lines. To me this is an oversight that should be corrected. It's easy enough, just add the same connection points on both foot and head end and you're good.
I’m close to the top end of the posted capacity(6’3” 230) and have been wanting to make the change from my HH to the BB, but I’m concerned about being at the limits and not seeing any plans for a Long version.
While it’s quite a bit different than the Banyan, take a look at the Big Boy Bridge from Towns End Hammocks. Might be a good option. You can find my review of the Luxury UL that they make which is the same dimension just a lighter version.
Was really hoping this was going to be a Wide version, but think now i am going to give the Haven Safari a try, as a primary for my wife and kids. And if it fits me well, i'll buy the regular Haven XL for the occasional back country trek where i want something other than my Chameleon or XLC.
never tried the banyan yet. just got a new double layer ridgerunner which has some changes from my old one. as a side sleeper who rolls from side to side, the bridge hammocks are a good option for these old bones. agreed, I don't sleep well laying on the ground anymore.
I have a Ridge Runner, and I’ll probably never go back to gathered end hammocks. Awesome news that the bars are way lighter now. Maybe warbonnet will jump on those bars too.
About that suspension / bugnet problem: What if you just don't have that ridgeline shelf over you? Seems like a lot of shelving if you could have the head, foot, and side shelves already.
There are ridgeline organizers that attach with Velcro, you might consider changing over to them or modifying your existing organizers if possible. Great video. I am seriously looking at getting this hammock and appreciate your opinion.
Awesome video. I just ordered a double layer version of this hammock this morning along with a 12 foot bonded xenon ultralight tarp. My only concern with the bridge hammock is puncturing the tarp getting in or out. Any suggestions on how to avoid this?
Glad you asked this. They aren't 4 inches shorter, they are each (head and foot) about 1.5-2 inches shorter. But the original ones really pushed the hardware out to the sides, probably close to an inch on each side. I really think the length these are is the length they should have been all along. There is zero difference in lay.
It is a comfortable hammock and at 6'2: I won't be using any storage bags at the head or foot end. One regret is that I have the single layer version which I ordered not knowing a double was coming out.
But it still wants ta put a hole in yer rain fly....needs ta handle that one issue.i know I could, but I shouldn't need ta do so,it should come thataway.....

Thank you for the review! How would you compare the shoulder squeeze with the Warbonnet Ridgerunner?

Which tarp option do you suggest?
The Dutchware Bonded Xenon wide winter is my choice!

Would be nice to check as well if the Warbonnet Lynx UQ works on the Banyan.
Yeah, I can do that, but quick answer is yes, they will work.
Hi! Being 184cm and fairly atletic build, would you have any concerns about shoulder squeeze?
There is some, but it's much less than on a gathered end for sure. I have another hammock that has considerably less shoulder squeeze, the TownsEnd Luxury UL Hammock.
@@SpiguyverBackpacking1 Thanks!! Will check your video on that out, I just saw it. Great content, much appreciated:)
Anytime, thanks for checking them out!
The shelf can be modified to make it disconnect easy. I'd play with some prussik soft shackles and loops on the shelf to attach them to.

3:12 Someone comes through my camp and starts hacking at my gear with a machete. First thought; with this hammock, I can replace the cordage! Lol

Hammocks were a big change for me, in the positive. I was resistant to bridges until I finally went for it. Now I'm all in on bridge hammocks.
Love the review. Can’t wait to order mine and try it out
Sweet! Thanks for letting me know the double layer is out now!
Great review, thanks, can't wait to get out on the Quachita Trail this Fall.
Do you know if Dutch just sells the spreader bars?
I believe you can get them on his site, if not, shoot them an email and I'm sure they'll take care of you.
I have a Ridge Runner, and I’ll probably never go back to gathered end hammocks.
Awesome news that the bars are way lighter now. Maybe warbonnet will jump on those bars too.
Right, bridges are good for some, not everyone, but for me they are great!
Something like this or a haven hammock tent. Need something for moto camping that’s versatile and flat lay.
Both would work, the Haven is good for if you don't have trees you can also use it as a tent!
About that suspension / bugnet problem: What if you just don't have that ridgeline shelf over you? Seems like a lot of shelving if you could have the head, foot, and side shelves already.
Sure, that would help, but really the Ridgeline shelf is the one I use the most.

Yeah, this one is different though since it incorporates the shelf which is extremely useful with the dual ridge lines of the Banyan.
@@SpiguyverBackpacking1 I didn't realize that when I made my comment. It does look well thought out.
No worries, it is something that could be used in place of this one.
And it wasn't a big deal when you could disconnect the ridge lines from each end.
Been on the fence, being I toss and turn / stomach sleeper. How tall are you ? As I am 6’ 215lbs
Good video, also big for me is knowing double fabric!

I use a piece of an old bicycle tube with a hole for the tip of the bar on the inside.
I head the spreader bars were 4" shorter, notice any difference in lay?

@@SpiguyverBackpacking1 happen to know how a Lynx Underquilt fits on a Banyan?
Yes, they fit perfectly.
Thanks, thinking about adding a Bayan to compare against the RR.
Come by with a machete and hack at my stuff ? Yikes ! Lol ....this new Banyan looks great. I'll wait for the double layer version though.
Double layer is on the site now
Awesome, I didn't see it, I'll go look!
You never know what people you may encounter out there! LOL! I guess it's up now!
Nice !
cutting someone's hammock suspension should be a capital offense. 😁

Literally just bought one
Right on! Enjoy it when you get it. What did you end up going with?

It's just a pain in the ass that wasn't a problem with the previous version.
