I have been wanting to try Klipper on my printers and have decided on this product to deliver. $60 for the Quadra with upgrade kit and shipping. Ordered Friday, delivered Monday (today). Shipped from Oregon to Colorado. Wish me luck as I follow this tutorial. Thanks to The feral engineer and PrintsLeo3D.
Hi there, Disregard, I got it to work. Thanks for this great video. I ended up buying a 7" Hosyond screen. I hooked it up to the Quadra and it immediately showed the inovato desktop, even touch worked in the Armbian GUI. I then went ahead SSHed into the machine and I used KIAUH to add KlipperScreen to my install. I have had klipper running on the Quadra for a few month now. After a sudo reboot the quadra restarted and booted into KlipperScreen. The klipper screen looks as expected and shows my printer data but unfortunately the touch function doesn't work. Any idea what I am missing? Thanks
On the 3 standard, it's easy because there is a bl touch section on the board, but you have to make firmware changes. I cover it in my abl shootout video. If you run klipper, it's super easy, though 😅
Hello sir, loved the video when you originally put it up and im finally getting around to upgrading my N3Plus. Got the Quadra and a PL Touch, as well as a 5" screen. Is this video still valid or is there an updated one I should be looking for? Also, do you think it's better that I use this upgrade on the N3Plus or my old N2s? thank you for everything that you do
This video is still valid The BLTouch will not work on the plus that I'm aware of. There are no servo control pins available. Try it all out on the neptune 2s first
Ordered one today. Now to see if I get my nerve up to re-flash my Neptune 3 with Klipper. I've only been printing about a month, just turned up Octoprint last week. ;)
Great video. I am running klipper on a quadra as well and it is truly a great solution. Do you have a file for the Hosyond screen case? Did you buy the version of that screen that already comes with a stand? Thanks
Do you have a guide/other video for the part you mentioned where you have to upload a USB binary? I found the file on your github, but am trying to figure out (while I wait for my quadra to arrive) if I'll need that for my Neptune Max, and if so, what to do with it.
You just copy it to a micro sd card, insert it into your machine, turn the power on, wait two minutes and it should be ready to go. Make sure you disconnect the screen first
any chance you can post a video of getting this to work in verticle mode? I have one of these running my meptune 3 pro but would like it to run verticle the way you showed in one of your other video.
I'd have to mess with this one. The CB1 has an easy way to do this, the Quadra runs a different version of Linux and I haven't tried to find a way to do it. I know in Debian, it was a nightmare getting the touch mesh set up. I think armbian may be similar.
hi, I've minipc with Ubuntu running klipper. i want to connect such hdmi/usb display to it. but I've no gui installed on Ubuntu. Will Klippeerscreen work in this case?
Got my Quadra yesterday. Unfortunately had to order a DVI to HDMI cable as the monitor I have didn't have HDMI ports. I'm slightly concerned about your connection comments, which you seemed to have resolved using the make menuconfig command. I know squat about Linux, but I can Google and that appears to be a utility for configuring software before compiling - so what did you modify/recompile? The binary for the N3 (which is what I'm assuming)? Thanks!!
I have everything installed on the Quadra ready to go, but how do you create the .bin file using KIAUH? Is it under the Advanced option, then Create it? Does the printer need to be connected to the Quadra to do this? I’m trying to get Klipper running on my Kingroon KP3S Pro, which has two different MCUs it could have and they’re set up differently. I can’t find a video/article saying how to use KIAUH to get from a blank controller to running Klipper on the printer.
this looks good as i am wanting to use klipper and octoprint. can i ask what camera can be used to monitor my prints with this device. do you know if i can use my phone to use this and use the camera once i have put it upto my laptop to do the installation. thank you
You can run headless and use your phone to control it via the webui, yes. As far as cameras, the Logitech ones work on the mks pi, which is also running Armbian, but I'm not 101% positive of compatibility due to the different CPU architecture. I'd have to try it out.
Speaking of cheap klipper hardware, requesting a video on how to get the SKR Pico to work with the sonic pad over USB. It should work in theory but I haven't found anyone on the web that actually has shown it to work and when I try to connect them the sonic pad gets the config file but then can't connect. If you can figure that out it would solve a question many people are asking about the pico, mainly does the USB port really work as advertised?
OKAY THEN. DID YOU TRY CONTACTING MICHAEL? HE'S PRETTY HELPFUL IF YOU GIVE HIM A CHANCE. MAYBE YOU HAD A POWER SURGE OR SOMETHING. DID YOU TRY A DIFFERENT POWER SUPPLY OR MAYBE LOOK FOR A BLOWN VOLTAGE REGULATOR ON THE BOARD? THE QUADRA ISN'T ANYTHING MORE THAN AN ANDROID TV BOX WITH A DIFFERENT FLAVOR OF LINUX ON IT.
And what is so special about that now? There have been these media boxes in China for years, where Android or Linux is on it and is mainly used for KODI to watch movies and series. And even then, they only cost around $30, and even came with an IR remote control. And this box is just a slimmed down media box where some things were left out. From that point of view, it's way too expensive. And Klipper could have been installed on it years ago. So nothing special at all. Once again, someone doesn't know what they're talking about and thinks they've found something special.
That really is a whole lot of nothing being spit by someone without a single video of their own to speak of. Everyone is aware that the Quadra is a rebranded T95 mini. Hell, Inovato themselves have a step by step instruction on their website to flash their linux verion to a T95. It was sent to me for the sole purpose of testing it out as a Klipper solution, it's not like I'm reinventing the wheel. Come back and talk trash when you're relevant to someone other than yourself. Until then, go back to the hole you crawled out of.

Nice thing is that you can just flash back to Marlin with no fears or regrets, but I don't think most people do once they get the hang of it 😅

Bummer ☹️☹️ see if you can find a t95 Android box. They're very similar. You'd probably have to flash Linux to it, though

Too bad its not for sale in Eu outside of England.. taxes and shipping are making it now a 100usd product. sadly.

This box is too slow. I only use it for my hamclock. now that I have the pi5 i am moving it over to it.
Fits the 80/20 rule
Does anyone know of a USB accelerometer that can be used to calibrate? I assume that is the only option since no SPI. Maybe I'm wrong

Is there a way to run Klipper on the screen without a web browser?
Yes, if you use an HDMI touchscreen, you don't need to use the webui

Yes, mobileraker is a good app
is there a way to get back to the desktop after the reboot into klipper?
Haven't tried, honestly. Might have to kill the klipperscreen service and try to run an x session
