This is what we did for our family too, lost my dad in 2019 and we felt very empty. My mum especially found no purpose to wake up as she was my dad's carer as well. We got a little Shih Tzu puppy towards the end of the year and he made us all so much happier. Doesn't replace the emptiness of dad being gone but our little Jack saved us all from a very dark time.

I found this on their website "Janet did fall for Bruce and take him home, but after another close family bereavement, she sadly wasn’t in a position to look after Bruce, or give him the time and attention he deserved. Bruce has since been rehomed with another family, and has settled in well."

He does, but according to the series’ website, Bruce doesn’t last long with the family and is returned.
