G.E.M.出生於上海，4歲到香港定居，成長於一個音樂世家，在母親和外祖母的薰陶下，自小便熱愛音樂。她在5歲的時候已經開始嘗試作曲填詞，10歲便不斷參加不同的歌唱比賽，曾試過一年內嬴得5個比賽冠軍，13歲完成了8級鋼琴。中學時期就讀於油麻地的真光女書院，課餘時亦曾參與過體操班。2006年參加Spice It Up 學界聯校歌唱比賽並獲得冠軍，比賽中被現時的經理人張丹邀請簽約蜂鳥音樂，14歲成為歌手。2008年會考取得21分成績[1]，並入讀香港演藝學院。 2008年10月16日發行個人首張EP《G.E.M.》，收錄了當年的參賽歌曲《Sleeping Beauty》中文版--《睡公主》。2009年，於叱咤樂壇流行榜頒獎典禮奪得女新人獎金獎，亦是該獎項歷年來最年輕，以及第一位未成年的得獎者[1]。因為其廣闊音域及唱功，得到不少前輩歌手點名公開讚揚，傳媒亦以「巨肺少女」作為其稱號..
真是才女，会四种语言，会做词曲，唱的好听，长的美，从小一定下了功夫磨练自己，真女神级别，当自无愧！

you guys should understand that that in society now, it is very hard o be original. I'm not saying that GEM isn't original. just because her mv is similar to Miley Cyrus, it doesn't necessarily mean that she or whoever copied it. GEM's music is original, and I personally think that she is way better than Miley. this mv isn't the best I've seen, but you all should give GEM & her crew some credit for working hard and putting in their best effort to make this mv.
