3 Things Southgate MUST Change Before Euro 2024! | Monday Vibes

- On today's Monday Vibes, Dougie and Michael discuss England's 1-0 loss to Brazil, where Real Madrid-bound Endrick became the youngest-ever player to score an international goal at Wembley.
With England fielding a depleted side without Kane, Saka and Shaw, and with Kyle Walker going off injured, what are the main problems Southgate needs to fix ahead of the Euros in Germany?
Should Gallagher be Declan Rice's midfield partner or is Man United wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo a more natural fit? And what about Phillips and Henderson? Does Ollie Watkins work as Kane's understudy or does Ivan Toney offer a better solution? And should Southgate persist with Harry Maguire for what may be his final tournament?
We also take a look at Germany's 2-0 win over France - should they be taken more seriously as Euros contenders on home soil? And how should we be rating the Netherlands after their 4-0 win over Scotland?

Who do you think should partner Declan Rice at Euro 2024? 👇
Trent, need some creativity for sure.
@@bilborulz12 maybe name an actual midfielder 🤦🏻♂️
Mainoo x Rice x Bellingham x Foden x Madders OUR BEST Midfield 5 in England for EROUS🏴👌
Ideally no one. I'd love to see England play a fluid defence of TAA, Walker, Stones,Gomez (or Tomori or Colwill) and Rice. TAA can move into midfield in possession to orchestrate ie pass the ball to our attackers.
Mainoo, Phillips etc... etc.. don't stop decent opposition scoring and they massively prohibit England from scoring 😂😂.
It's boring and ineffective.
@@chrismcgregor272 you want to play 3 right backs and only one CB? I don't think you understand football
Biggest shock of this podcast is that Dougie is in his 20s!
Just wait till you lose your hair lad
*was
😂😂😂
@@edwardbrown7986 I am 43 and still got a full head of hair!
With Maguire, I just feel like England should be playing a very high pressing line the team is just perfect for it. The only issue with Magurie being absolutely horrid running towards goal.
If you go with a quicker CB I think you would see England go the next step
Maybe we just change Southgate 🤷♂️
Jose is available, he's still good at cup comps
@@radical6905lol, so because everyone's annoyed at defensive football you wanna bring in José ? Moron
Agree with your point about Hendo and the off-field issues, but on the basis that he gave Kyle Walker the armband, somehow i dont think he's too fussed about things off the field
Curtis Jones to partner Rice didn’t they mention him
Joao Gomez was sensational.
Didn't know Ten Hag was still in his 20's
Only 30???? Bro I thought he was like 45 😭😭😭
Mainoo x Rice x Bellingham x Foden x Madders OUR BEST Midfield 5 in England for EROUS🏴👌
It's an exhibition game. Conservative Southgate does not want to give away too much before the Euros. His preference is to rely on older trusted players. Some are injured, a few are in bad form, others have big games Sat/Sun. He is going out of his comfort zone by introducing new, younger players at this late stage. But they do get a call-up, a taste of a big match at Wembley. Observe how they blend in. Win, lose, draw the result does not matter. Showing up to play counts.
Kane was not available. So I would have given Watkins 35 mins, Toney the same, about 20 mins for the 4th possible striker. Tipping my hat about the potential pecking order.
Bellingham, Trent Alexander, Grelish, Henderson, Saka are not available. Opportunity to vary the midfield and wingers. Again Southgate has a template, style of play and system. How to vary, not lose by much to etch away at the confidence and gains made thus far. Chances for Gallagher, Mainoo, Madison, Bowen in different roles or positions. Small, low risk experiments or evaluations. Can they handle the pressure, competition, opposition, crowd, the occasion - so close to Euros, 2 friendlies, Wembley. Calvin Phillips out of favor - have not played much and in poor form.
Challenges at the full back positions - Walker injured, Chilwell not in the best form, different line-up, mixed team chemistry, White desire is to concentrate on club football and is unavailable. His preferred go to for either right or left would have been Trippier or Gomez. Another opportunity for further introspection and evaluation with some interesting outcomes. CB pairings are limited but chaces for a few with Stones to be rested or not play 2 full games and Maguire given every opportunity to improve his form.
As a manager, Southgate has to mediate between his national team needs and the PL clubs wants. Six to eight games to go in a tight top 3 finish. Heady competition for 4 to 8 place. All the clubs want healthy players on the weekend. Then the points deduction relegation battles. So Southgate will not allow his new charges too much freedom. Can they get the tasks done? Grind out the minutes. Is it possible to rest key players and simultaneously not risk any new injuries? Gamble on appearances, play hide and seek.
Love Football Daily ❤
I thought Dougie was in his 40s 😅
If not Mainoo, Curtis Jons would be the best option to compliment Rice and Bellingham. But obvs hes been injured and has never been capper, but just stylisticly he would be best. Mainoo looked great luckily
ik its more euro centric but was hoping to hear about colombia vs spain, as a colombian im feeling good about our chances at copa america w/ our recent form and luis diaz is a monster w the colombia jersey. the team doesnt have that many big names anymore but james is back to providing min 7/10 performances
Southgate must change himself and resign. Anyone else will do a better job then him
England needs to play a high line and replace Maguire🫡
1. Team selection
2. Tactics
3. In game adjustments and substitutions
And since Southgate has shown he is completely incapable of doing these things don’t expect much to change 😂
So bdanthwaite who's played alot more than mainoo is too unexperienced but they want mainoo to start?
Blaming Watkins for Southgate’s tactical ineptitude seems extremely harsh
What specifically about his tactics did you feel was lacking?
@@adithya448 any 😂
Ohh .. you are one of those 😅
@@adithya448 I literally do not think he had a tactical plan. I think his approach is to aim to control possession, keep a defensive structure and hope to score from set pieces. Aka no tactics, no patterns of play, just hope that the talent he throws out there figures it out. It was like that at the weekend and it’s been that way for 8 years
1- he must go 2- he must go 3- he must go ...
Dougie you lovely man happy early birthday 🎉
I must be psychic, about five minutes before he sent Rashford on I said to my partner "Rashford will be brought on soon" and sure enough, he's so predictable.
Wishing you a very happy birthday Dougie (belated sorry 😀)
Southgate is always too tentative in removing players and replacing them when they aren’t playing well and sub them sooner.
more than 3 I think haha
The balance in the midfield is there, SouthGate just hasn’t got it right and refuses to adapt. He’s forcing this double pivot role when in reality it should be Declan in the lone 6 , with an inverted fullback next to him. (I’m not English)
These guys don’t actually say anything.
How with all these flaws that you yourself pointed out you still say England should win the Euros knowing fully well that a team like France is way more prepared to concur this tournament
Why does Curtis jones never get a shout?
To be honest that was an oversight from me, he should certainly be considered. But a bit like Gallagher (although I prefer Jones to him), not sure how he'd adapt to such a different role with England.
[Michael]
@@FootballDaily ya okay fair enough, I just think he should be right on the brink of getting the squad considering hendo is still in the conversation
No USMNT love guys ? 😢
Christ the bots on upload are relentless
Best solution is to sack Southgate and get away from a double pivot and get rid of Maguire ffs!
single pivot doesn't work for england. we already seen enough instance where rice plays basically as a single pivot because his double pivot partner (other than phillips) plays out of position/have more attacking tendencies. this match against brazil shows this. we need to pair rice with jones/mainoo.
Half an hour video and like 30 seconds of talk about one of the six games that really matter in this international break, the qualifying finals. Weird.
Are you scared of France?
I thought he was in his 40s already
The best change is to change the coach… Southgate is horrible. Will never win anything.
3 things… everything!
Podcast about Southgate. . . How can we mention Manchester United? Ah Solksjaer. Football tactico nonsense.
Just don't do a double pivot....... play rice at the base and then have Bellingham as the attacking of the 3 in midfield and Gallagher box to box.
Bellingham was playing too far forward at times and wasn't getting involved
so play bellingham in box to box (the position that got him to madrid) and play foden 10. i don’t understand this thinking that bellingham all of a sudden forgot how to play deeper
@@do7137 433.
Rice deep
Then Gallagher and Bellingham infront and give Bellingham more freedom to get forward.
When everyone's fit play foden on the left.
Yeah Bellingham is fine playing deeper, we don't have enough passing or creativity from deep to play Bellingham so far up upfield. He's able to for Madrid because they Kroos and others passing deep.

wtf happened to this channel. it seems like everything but monday and sunday vibes suddenly just stopped
Sky have ruined it. Feel bad for Dougie, McCubbin and James tbh
Tldr sky basically bought the staff they wanted and wrecked the channel to eliminate the competition. Ppl either hopped over to sky like Joe or left for other places like Hamil and Pat. These two are basically the only full time staff left so theyre currently only able to make the two videos
@@happinessismychemical667 thats unfortunate. peak like 2018-2021 when euro football daily existed will be missed. rip football (not so) daily
Sky wants to kill the channel
Ole gunner solkjaer was an elite manager
He should change himself for a decent manager.
Southgate must change by leaving
"He's literally unsackable" thats the problem. Jesus christ
Happy early birthday Dougie🎉
It all returns to Southgate picking players that weren't in form, or playing around with tactics against weaker opposition, we now have all these players with so called depth but are prem experienced but not internationally experienced, other than top teams international football is not the same level as the prem/top level football and its traditionally slower also. Picking up the slack of not rotating players hence no experienced depth at cb
What does Southgate need to change? His career
Player quality can win games, managerial quality shows our general level, pep said when he wins it’s the player and when he loses it’s his fault, Southgate is so poor tactically and limits our players, you’re defending him when he’s shown how poor he is for the last few years
Defence mind 😂 coach ..maybe next manager change England 😊
Where is the ginger, the curly haired guy, and the other one gone?
Southgate is a terrible manager tbf. Obviously he won't get sacked but England fans shouldn't be happy with him. As a Swedish fan idc about how/what he does personally, aside from how terribly he handled the Ben White situation, do not like that as an Arsenal fan lol.
the guys remaining in football daily are all think-tanks but this show is missing its lively characters. Should throw Sam in together with the fat heads for a nice blend
Roy Jenning is always moaning about Southgate for clickbait, its hard to take him serious to be honest
Gordon should start over foden on the left he’s never played well for England he can only play the 10
Why not wait till after the belgium game
stylistic fit >>>> form
I thought Joe Gomes, Mainoo and Jared Bowen played well. Ollie Watkins was ineffective. I would have like to see Toney come in. Gallagher and Foden did not have a good game. They needed to stay on their feet more. Both kept going down way too easily. Anthony Gordon played well. Southgate needs to see when players aren’t playing well and sub them. He’s got a good bench.
As a Brazilian, the future is bright, I hope Neymar doesn’t come back to the seleção, our new lads with some experienced players can bring back the World Cup.
Henderson is an older Gallagher and Gallagher is trash
Southgate hasn’t developed as a coach in 8 years with England. It’s so predictable what he’ll do. We’ll probably get through the group and then lose in the quarters. We’ll have a fast start, maybe score but then nothing for the majority of the game and he won’t make a sub till the 89th minute. After another mediocre managing performance, the unambitious FA will hand him another 4 year deal.
Shocked you didn’t mention how poor Foden was as usual for England, but no surprise. The golden child.
