He was gone mainly due to having a small human being forced into his life, so as soon as said small human being doesn't need both parents to be around constantly, I'm sure that's when he returned.
not sure why youtube brought me to this vod, but it's really cool seeing Jer playing back in 2019! I actually have a Commander deck based off of one of Jer's jokes from Friday Nights. I have a Diaochan deck, and no one in my play group realizes that you guys are where I got the idea haha
Big Kaja fan here. I have nearly every card she's ever done in Magic, and many multiple Cuombajj Witches from various sets. My personal favorite is North Star, from Legends.
I honestly miss when Pauper had a minimal banlist, it feels like such a neutered format to me now. I started playing Pauper back in 2010, when there was only one card on the banlist (Cranial Plating). One of Pauper's biggest appeals is to see just how powerful decks can become when restricted only to commons, and you can't really get that feeling in the format now that so many things are banned. Pauper had only one banned card for quite a long time, and the meta was always healthy and self-regulating. When Wizards started banning cards, the balance was thrown off and people just shifted to the next "best decks," which prompted further bannings, and eventually it devolved to the point where they've started banning cards like Arcum's Astrolabe and Expedition Map.
@@Moonmerism There was a wider range of competitive blue decks (Esper Familiar Storm, Delver/Faeries, Cloudpost, UR Storm, Grixis/Depletion Storm, etc.), but nonblue decks could still compete just fine. In fact, blue cards didn't even start getting banned until after the bannings of Invigorate, Grapeshot, and Empty the Warrens. The meta was already fine.
The fact that one of the two witches has six fingers almost certainly has some sort of mystical significance. Extra fingers on the left hand are a sign of ill fortune in some cultures.
They scan the cards ahead of the tourney to seed the image recognition program. But they must query an online database because I've seen it flicker between different printings of a card during a single query, as if it couldn't quite determine the set symbol.
In game 2, did Kathleen not know that Jer was dead for minutes already? She could have just activated pestilence till he died, leaving her at 1 Edit: Nvm they just talked about it a second later XD 2:19:06
She still totally could have killed him as soon as his life total dropped below hers because 1. Pestilence only checks for creatures at the end step. If you kill all of the creatures before the end step, you can still activate pestilence as many times as you want until it sacrifices itself on the end step And 2. Even if pestilence checked for creatures and sacrificed itself as a clause on its activated ability, the ability is instant speed. If a trigger would cause pestilence to sacrifice itself, you could just activate its ability more times before that trigger resolves. Of course, using pestilence to kill your opponent is just one quality that makes it so good. Being able to use it as a board wipe 4-5 times that game is what got her the win.

This made me curious and I looked it up. It does infact not. Wastes do not have a basic land type, so there still only exist 5. For example a Mountain has the typeline Basic Land - Mountain whereas the typeline for Wastes is only Basic Land. Without any subtype
Question: When James played the 2 faeries with flash, why did he return the cards to his hand? I thought they are played like an instant but would remain on the battlefield.
Would historic pauper follow the if ever printed at common rule? This means if a card is printed in a historic set not at common but was a common card at some point it is legal. Also a good question for modern pauper.
This question doesn't entirely make sense. Pauper is its own format, and its card legality is any card printed at common, throughout Magic's history. There is no "historic pauper," or "modern pauper." If you're referencing the Magic Arena special event, "Pauper," that was a one week special event, where only common cards were legal for your deck, and it was standard cards only because Magic Arena only has current standard legal cards at this point in time.
Yeah, I personally like Blazing Volley quite a bit over Electrickery. It's possible that I'm undervaluing the potential of instant speed interactions, but I kind of feel that 1 mana beats 2 mana against mana elves and tokens. At least that's the case for my Izzet Blitz deck, where I tend to want to play all my spells pre-combat anyways.
Wastes are basic lands, but they do not have a basic land type. I believe Mark Rosewater even wrote at the time that this was done deliberately to prevent boosting the power of cards like those with the domain keyword.
Wastes are a Basic land with no type that have an oracle text that lets them produce mana. They can be searched for with cards that look for "basic lands" but nyleas presence grants all the Basic land TYPES which since wastes have no type means that Nyleas Presence does not make it a 6th type of Basic. This also means for Domain which looks at "Basic land TYPES" that wastes also doesn't count for the abillity even if you have a Waste. Interesstingly the original design of both the wastes and the Domain abillity came from Barry Reich ( mtg.gamepedia.com/Barry_Reich ) and wastes very tested for Invasion block. However due to rules problems they didn't make the cut which lead to them being put in much later with the Eldrazi. This is probably why this is also so confusing because if Wastes were introduced in Invasion they might've had a basic land type.
There are only 5. Wastes are basic lands, but they lack a land type (just "Basic Land" vs. "Basic Land - Island", etc.) so Domain and the like don't count them.

Jeremy!!!!! My thousands of cards are still waiting to be organized!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why the annihilator effect didnt happened and Nelson blocked without sacrificing 2 creatures?
I think the time walk episode was the first friday nights I ever watched
@2:17:04 she could have responded with 4 damage to all creatures and each of them from the pestilence to end the game with Sabotage on the stack.
Did Alex finally cast that time walk?
Yes
