    I took time away from playing to work on the things I am supposed to work on. I get frustrated when I don't practice and then I don't enjoy the golf on the course. I am always trying to find the thing I was supposed to find in the range sessions that I never went to. I did a good number of consecutive days and this is my learning experience with constant feedback from a professional coach.

  • @TGRC
    @TGRC 3 года назад +22

    I watch Malaska, Gankas and the Golf Zen Mechanic on RUclips and they all sound different in the way they teach the swing, but as you get into it you realize they are all saying pretty much the same thing...which is good. What I'm learning is that the more I focus on my feet, moving from pressure on my right heel to the outside of my left foot, the less I try to dominate the swing with my arms and hands. A big part of that is straightening the left leg as I come into the ball. WIP. Golf the never-ending journey. Enjoy all your vids btw. Keep'em coming.

      thats crazy you mentioned Gankas, I watched his video with barstool and for whatever reason his method all the sudden clicked for me. Basically the same exact overall method, just slightly different ways to explain it, focuses, etc.

    Awesome Matt! I was a severe over the top flip of the hands player. With a lot of the same lessons as you over the last 2 years I’ve gone from an 18 handicap to a 5 handicap. But that move you talk about holding the club longer is something I’ve been working on with my new inside out swing to prevent the flip action as well. It’s hard but man does it work!! I am really glad I found your channel me and you have the same issues ! Your teacher is spot on I wish he was not so far! I will try to work on what you are working on. Another thing I know you got like 5 million things in your head but this works! I am 51 and beginning to understand the golf swing so much more its crazy.One day I was practicing with my wedge and heard the sound and my diviot was a lot different I was hitting my 56 degree like 50 to 60 percent I was only focusing on making the head of the wedge come straight down into the ground and I started to hit ball then divot.It is amazing cause you think you will hurt your self but you wont gotta trust it and once that club hits the ground you will know your swinging correct !That thing with the hip where he just pulls your pocket made a such a big difference I will get me one of those hitting bags also Thanks for the videos !

  • @hicarn
    @hicarn 3 года назад

    I haven't worked on the range yet (weather is just warming up here in Canada) but I decided to really concentrate on the swaying your coach talked about this past weekend because 2 weeks ago I was pushing my irons slighly right most of the day which I attributed to being ahead of the ball in my swing and not giving the face time to close.
    This past Saturday, I made my only swing thought "Do not sway, keep head still" and it definitely resulted in some very solid contact all day long! It changed my miss from pushing right to a slight pull left (which is to be expected). So my next round or range session, I will work on the same swing thought and make adjustments to ball position to correct the slight pull.
    Keep up the great content!

  • @roejye06
    @roejye06 3 года назад

    So I had a lesson a few days ago and found out my lead arm wasn't stiff/straight but my trail arm was. As a result I developed a coping mechanism to get to and through the ball, I dipped my lead shoulder way down and swayed well in front of the ball. I did get a decent squat motion out of it, but my ballstriking was very inconsistent.
    Thank you for posting this video. I'm going to use this drill, as well as continuing to practice on the range and hopefully my swing will round into shape before golf season gets here.

  • @mikestock6461

    I fight this same issue. I discovered a drill somewhere online where you hold an alignment stick against your grip in your left hand. If you flip, you smack yourself with the alignment stick. It really does help teaching you to keep that left wrist firm through impact albeit a bit painful at times :)

    haha its funny... I said in one video you should keep your left eye behind the ball through contact that thinking... and I Cant believe you actually responded... i think it was the video you said FIX MY SWING TITLE.... and like the head moving forward was my biggest problem till i though of that... but anyways you said yeah you where doing it in a jack nickalaus method i think.... anyways it was dope and this first part of the video reminded me of it...
    its funny another revolution to me.. not telling you how about you... but for me... the biggest misconception is KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN... complete wrong terminology... when you tell people that cause them to dip there head and hit it fat or pre flick there wrist and skull it..... the CORRECT terminology is DO NOT TURN YOUR HEAD TILL AFTER CONTACT... you want to keep your head up and as level as possible through the entire swing... but you want to make sure you dont turn your head... keeping left high behind the ball through contact until your a quater of the way through your follow through.

    I know Eric is a baus, but to avoid flicking the wrist...keep the hips level, with the knees lightly flexed. Turn from the shoulders , extending the right arm, with maximum extention in front of the sternum. Ensuring a light grip, strong enough to hold a bird without crushing it, then start the counter move, beginning to bend the elbow bringing the wrist back towards the chest..Make sure the left side is still firm, supporting the right, not collapsing against it. Bring the hands level with your mouth to a balanced finish. Practice this six times a day for a month, and you should never spill a pint again.

    Matt...I’m a big fan but dude, but you gotta stop putting yourself through these kinda painful lessons...just watch Marcus at Zen Golf mechanic and embrace the only way to truly change and swing properly...you’ll get where you wanna be so much faster.

      Marcus has to be in the top ten golf instructors on the planet. No mechanics or positions crap.

      The way Marcus has you start the downswing it is almost impossible to FLIP the club. Trying to consciously hold the club face open through impact is a losing battle no matter how many drills you do. Especially under pressure in a match.

    You are going to be dangerous. Your swing is getting as sharp as your putting!

    Great golf channel but Don't be bringing the golfers down the rabbit holel of focusing on the Mechanics of the golf swing fixing different parts of the swing will only make it worse..... if you want to get out of the rabbit hole I would advise you to check out "zen golf mechanics" channel he takes a different approach to learning golf and it's a breath of fresh air BUT if you want to enjoy watching golf videos definitely stick around and subscribe to this channel

      Just the process of what happened when i focused on the swing instead of the ball in the hole
