It makes it easier if you turn the steering wheel so the screws are at the top or bottom, rather than by the turn signal, cruise control, or windshield wiper stalks.

I just love how the m trim looks, I wanted it so badly but my steering wheel was not the sport one. So I just went ahead and got the m wheel. It looks amazing I have to agree.
I only replaced my wheel trim this week, and I encountered the same sticking point with the slack to the button module on the right side. I had to be really careful here because there was barely enough slack on it to move it above the wheel to undo the screw at the back, but in the end got I the job done. Thanks for the video🙂👍
Still can’t believe on a premium car that this peeling happens on both the steering wheel trim as well as the drivers door grab handle. Never had anything like this in lower end cars like Subaru & Mazda
Nice video as always! Also you can peel your old trim and paint it again with a satin black Spray, or mate black and save some $$$... i did it on my car and the result is perfect!!! 👍🏻 oh, it is easier to mount the new trim piece removing the Airbag.
@@BMWFanatic I know I'm late to the party but you can easily remove the old rubber with a little varnish remover and then spray paint the trim with plastidip. Looks brand new and costs only 10 bucks or so for a small can.
The wire was giving you a problem because there’s a right & wrong way to do things! The air bag comes out & that unplugs! Then you can unscrew the buttons take the switches out. Screw them in & run the wires into your new trim. Plug it in then reinstall the air bag! You won’t trigger an airbag light if you wait 10-15 min after disconnecting the neg battery terminal…👌🏻💪🏻🏁
Oddly my steering wheel is like yours except without the silver edges on the cover, i thought i had the base steering but now i think mine is the same as yours because it looks exactly like mine now the you have the new cover on, except i dont have the Msport badge...why so many levels of steering wheel trim?

Dude your steering wheel is as shiny as an old mans bald head. Pro tip from Tommy L Garages channel: Use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It absolutely cleans off the grime and hand oils from the leather and restores the original dull leather look reverting it to the new look.
My steering wheel looks like your old one. I have a E93 I want to replace it but my car is not a M but I do have spot package so I just want flat black and I can’t find one

Dai Thach Well, it's not so simple to answer but I'll try. The N54 is rumored to have forged internals to begin with, whether that is true or not is up for debate. The N55 is proven to be weaker but anyways bmw used the N55 as base for S55 (used in current M3 and M4) They pretty much just changed internals to stronger ones which N54 had anyways. The N54 has been tuned to ridiculous amounts of power and sounds so much better than both N55, S55, and B58. The aftermarket support is huge and in my mind that is a big plus for itself. And also don't forget that 1M, and Z4 35is uses N54, and M2 uses the lesser N55. In other words what I'm trying to say, even bmw indirectly admits that the N54 is the king of their engines since they used it in one way or another in their high performance cars. Now please understand that this topic is very hard to explain in a RUclips comment but there is much info about everything I said on Wikipedia etc.
BMW Fanatic I already changed the coil ignition pack and the spring plug pack. All of them was bmw. And its still giving me the 2aaf code and misfiring on cynlinder 2 and 3. I’m not suspecting that. Should I change the whole fuel pump or just a part. The car has 128000 miles already. What do u think?

If you dont have room you can turn the steering wheel until the torx bolt is more accessible.

Removing the air bag takes two min, it makes it so much easyer.

Just unplug the buttons and remove them with the trim. Much easier to unscrew them that way

freethinker knowledge Log first to determine - reset the code too. Wait for it to come back on and if logging is pointing to the lpfp
