This shows that having a service dog is a lot more than just having a pet to take everywhere with you. Lots of people don't understand it but I'm glad you're shedding light on it.
The problem is all the people who bring their pets everywhere they go and pretend it's a service animal when it's not. They throw a little vest on it, call it an emotional support dog and carry on like nothing is wrong with that.

Yes eye contact is one of the first things my pinschers trainer taught her, if she's walking or needs to keep her eyes out she will wrap her tail around my leg to comfort me, she taught herself the tail trick dogs truly are amazing
Yeah. I was told my dog could've become a service dog because she naturally sought eye contact at all times, and really wanted to please me in any way she could. Smart too, and could smell when I was done socialising with people. She also changed her personality and behaviour depending on who was taking care of her, becoming "ideal dog" for that specific person.

I love that in this relationship with your service animal that you work for her as well as she works for you. On another note: I've always wondered why schools do not teach children about service animals (why not to approach them, pet them, distract them, feed them) since most parents refuse to teach their children the proper etiquette on how to behave around service animals. 🙄 These shorts are really informative to those who weren't taught basic respect around service animals. 👏👏👏
more often than not, the parents don't know either, because nobody taught them, so it's just a repeating cycle when you can live your life not knowing anything about it.
She’s just beautiful, working on getting a service dog due to my severe anxiety, panic attacks and seizures caused when anxious due to crowds and due to my severe anxiety, it’s a real problem cuz my issues run in a circle each one causing each other to react…. It’s a nightmare for people who don’t understand how important this bbys could be to us….

My friend has a German Shepherd service dog. When that dog tucks in he disappears almost. When she's about to have a seizure all of a sudden this huge dog appears in the room. I've never seen such a big dog tuck into such a small ball
Thank you for being a responsible owner. I know she is a well trained service dog, but any pet in public should be watched the same way. I had so many bad experiences while working retail with poorly trained animals. I value the service animal training greatly and wish emotional support animals were all required to complete it.

If you can't emotionally handle a place... Don't go in. The modern world is full of all kinds of ways to get what you need without bringing animals into unsafe and unsanitary situations. An untrained animal does not belong out in public. As someone with social anxiety I can understand the draw of emotional support animals, but that doesn't mean just bringing your standard pet with you everywhere.

I bring my pup with me to lots of pet-friendly stores and environments, and these were great tips. My pup is a Therapy Dog, so I have to keep her training up on a regular basis. I was sad at first when I found out my pup was coming docked. I love full, natural tails...but then I saw how many times he would have gotten it ran over by a cart or stepped on by unsuspecting passersby, and I was like... You know, that saves us both a lot of grief. 🤧🤣

Yes, but there will be many cases where the handler simply cannot pick up their service dog - either due to the dog's large size or the handler's disability or young age, e.g. a guide dog for a blind person.
When I was a kid my little brother got his toe stuck in an escalator one time and it was kind of traumatizing for me as well lol. So I don’t F with escalators. I use them… but lets say I respect them 😂
@@susanwilson1230 it depends on the airport I have seen people have to walk 5 minutes to the other side of the airport simply to catch the elevator and especially if you have a SD you normally have to walk 10 minutes to take it to the toilet to begin with

Under the ADA service dogs are not seen as pets but a working dog trained to aide the disabled.

what's interesting is that my elementary school taught us (it was 2012)
Most parents will be the first ones to try and take the dog home. The kids will just stare and point until their mom says "Go pet it!'

They usually have a command for when they're done working and they turn into regular dogs but they can't be pet by anybody else while on duty.

There are usually elevators near the escalators or stairs for physically disabled people who cannot pick up their 80 pound dog, like myself.
