What professionalism and commitment. I'm from a Navy family that served in WWII, and both the Vietnam and Cold Wars. I served on a nuclear attack sub during the 70s and I'm impressed by these young women and men who stand between The United States and our adversaries. I particularly liked the comments of the young Petty Officer who spoke of her responsibility to work on a wide variety of electronic equipment aboard the destroyer. As a former Electronic Technician this experience with servicing the large spectrum of equipment will benefit her greatly. I wish this crew "Fair Winds & Following Seas" wherever they may venture. Looks challenging, rewarding, and like the Army, the Navy has a culture all its own.

I spent 10 years in the U.S. Navy, greatest time of my life, except we were universally hated by my country, which is one of the reasons i got out at 10 years, there were other reasons too, I was on during the 70s during and after the war, so it was a difficult time. During this time I met the best people I ever met or will ever meet....

The morale of each of these young people seems to be top notch. Thank you very much for this video. And for the service each of these people are providing to the United States Navy and to humanity as a whole. Go Navy! Navy Pride!!
I am just a retired American Airlines Gate agent, 1984-2013... living in Fort Worth... I stumbled up on this... I am so proud of these young people my heart is pounding!!!!!
@Richard Hunt Not bad for ships hulls built in the late 80s, early 90s. The refits help. The next generation of ship will be amazing. Good crews help. We run a similar crew size as the ones at about 225. It can fluctuate under certain circumstances. The drills, though they can become frustrating, really do help the crews stay ready for anything. And I found that they help with bonding. Though workups could be hell on sleep.
I just wanna say that U.S. Navy and DMA (Defense Media Activity) have been producing outstanding videos in high quality definition for both Sailors and civilians recently. Much love for the MC's (mass communications specialists) and Public Affairs Officers for producing this quality of work. It truly shows how much the Navy has taken a particular interest in keeping up with the times and putting heart into their work to reach the masses. Please please please keep putting out material like this. It is extremely appreciated!
My kid is a Mid at the Academy and spent 3 weeks this summer on a DDG. She came back even more focused, determined, and confident than when she left for the experience.
WOW. So much has changed since my brother's service in the late '70s-early '80s! He was OS on the USS King DDG 41 Farragut-class guided missile destroyer, and the USS Little Rock CL-92, a Cleveland-class guided missile cruiser. The technology from then to now is mind boggling. God bless America and all of out military, And.....Go Navy!!!!
It’s crazy this ship was one of the ships I deployed with in January, one of the best ships I’ve worked with, I talk to many of their OS’s (Operation Specialist) they’re some of my favorite people great ship great people. I work for Carrier Strike Group 9 so this ship essentially belongs to the Admiral in charge of the carrier and they had an extremely tough deployment left in January went to the Middle East and just got back about a month ago. They did a tough job and they made sure to never give it anything less than 100%.
I was on the USS Blandy DD 943,for three years back in 1977. We didn't have hurricane straps, or the breathing mask in the rack. Or women on board. The food was really good . I will never forget being on after lookout in the middle of the ocean, millions of stars shinning early in the morning smelling the bread rolls baking on the mess deck for breakfast. Mmmm.
The underway video sure brings back good memories for this "old sailor," an AG2(AW), 1981-1988. UNREP, mid-rats, and some of the best sleep in those racks I've every had. Steaming past Bali in the early morning with dead calm seas, mists hanging over the islands. Paradise that most folks never see. Also, steaming past Iwo Jima and Mt Suribachi in the evening during a rain squall, thinking about the men lost to take that rotten piece of volcanic sand. As the young seaman said, "it makes you remember why you're out there."
God bless you all from the Republic of Ireland. Thank you for our freedom. You where during our war of independence, for freedom, what France was to your during your war for independence, for freedom. That's not a rip against the British, but God was on our sides during our wars of Independence, and without the fear of US, particularly, Irish American, intervention, the British would have committed ethnic cleansing to put down the Irish War of Independence. Please, Christian's, take this to the Lord in prayer. Thank you.

Thank you US Navy for making this amazing video.
I can’t wait to be apart of the World’s Greatest Navy. I can’t wait to be apart of this family. I ship off to Navy bootcamp in a few weeks. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for so long. I can’t wait to take part in this. Thank you all for your service. This was very informative.
How’s it going? What job do you have in the navy?
How is the Navy going?
Was an AMH in VAW-117. Did two 9 month cruises on the USS Ranger. The young Ladies and Gentlemen in this video give me great confidence that the US Navy will always hold the line against any aggression from any enemy and come out on top.
Awesome sailors from an Army vet go Navy!
From active navy sailor to Army vet stay ARMY STRONG.
I am an Army and Navy vet, i love them both, but i think the Navy has my heart

Thank you for your service! God bless our sailors!
My dad and son were both Navy, dad was also Air Force, and Coast Guard. I now support the US military in my job. Hats off to these men and women.
My whole family was Navy and Marines. I became an Army paratrooper (Vietnam/Cambodia). Watching these kids makes me damn proud to know they are keeping watch for America. God bless them and their families. Finally, GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!!!
thank you for your service james. i was Air Force myself but was a few years too late for nam.
God bless the USA and all who serve!
Awesome. I served in the 80's and it's good to see these young people being serious when seriousness is needed and having fun no matter what is going on. San Bruno Beacon said we should be proud of these young folks. And I am.
Ashley representando a Puerto Rico!!!🇵🇷🇵🇷
Thank each and every one of you who serve, I’m proud that would sign up to watch and protect all of us that did not serve and I wish you all the best may God watch over you and your family for the rest of your lives 🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
these men and women are the reason i detest those taking a knee, period.
Educate yourself on the reason for taking a knee as a form protest. It in no way was a slap to the military. Or believe the narrative that was presented to promote hate.
I served on this ship 2005-2009 when home port was in Pearl Harbor. Good to see my MK 45 still booming! I miss the 50 cals too. Ive done hundreds of pull up on that bar too near the ammo elevator. What a great ship; Good times.
Robert G were the racks as tight as they show them to be🤔
I was crew from 2004-2006. Did you get there before or after we busted the MRG on deployment?
RM2(SW) USS COMTE DE GRASSE DD-974 1991-1996 lots of learned lessons, lots of growing up. Best years and best co-workers/friends of my life!
My hats off to these great Sailors, super positive attitudes great spirits and moral. I served 26 years playing Army as a Sheridan Tanker from 1969 to 1971 then I went back in and became a Warrant Officer / Blackhawk Pilot. I retired in 1997 and was recalled back on Active Duty from 2007 thru Nov 2010 because the 1st Cav needed Senior Warrant Officers and high time (flight time) pilots to deploy to Iraq. You all be safe!1 God Bless
THESE YOUNG SAILORS ARE AWESOME,so well trainned, and ready to defend us from bad people who would do harm to us and our friends world wide(GOD BLESS THEM ALL)
I would have joined the Navy from the Marine Corps if i saw this video while i was still in.
Awesome video. Thanks for posting shipmate. Former crewmember u.s.s. Cleveland ( lpd-7). ARRGHH matey!!!
USS Basilone, DD-824. Gearing class, post Fram, 71-73. In '72 we did an Indian Ocean/Middle East cruise. On this cruise we circumnavigated the globe with a month's assignment to the sunny shores of N. and S. Viet Nams.
These sailors give me hope for this great nation. Thank you all for serving.
God Bless.
Absolutely tremendous. Years back I was at the USO at Great Lakes met some great sailors at their A school who invited me on a tiger cruise. One was on the Nimitz the other on the Eisenhower, what a wonderful experience. Always wanted to go on a destroyer. Finally got an invite to the Hopper, was to fly to Guam and go to Pearl. Got canceled at the last minute. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks to all the active sailors and retired.
Chief: Navy PR is riding with us. Everyone look happy.
Ensign: piggy back what chief just said look happy & answer questions happily
PO1: go clean all spaces & berthing. Look happy doing it.
It's almost like you were there.
If they only knew.
Did you see how clean the head (bathroom) was?
@@13bcoffee I remember when my NJROTC class went on a trip to Norfolk Virginia, we got to get on one of the destroyers and those bathrooms looked worse then those nasty gastation restrooms. I ship for basic in about 2 weeks.
@@13bcoffee that is because they did that shot just before berthing inspections. Doesn't take long before it gets messy and gross. Happens when you have extremely limited bathroom facilities.
I live near one of the shipyards that builds the Arleigh Burke class destroyers and it's really cool to see these ships come together and then sail off. It's neat to see all the people who worked hard to build them, to keep our sailors safe, and our country defended. Thank you to all who build these ships and all who serve aboard them.
I dont have the words to express how very proud of every one of you!
@my7571 we just proud of all our service men and women. They protect us y'know...
my7571 the sharks and dolphins in the big bad waters.
Samuel Aguilar your mom
Hooyah Navy! Bravo Zulu 👏🏽 HT2 SW/AW
Coming from a US Navy submariner I am proud of these sailors! Thanks for your service.
Man, I love watching Navy videos of life aboard ships and the work you guys do. I spent 20 years in the Army as an Infantryman. I have no regrets, but had this much media been available when I enlisted in the Army, I probably would have chosen the Navy. Looks challenging, rewarding, and like the Army, the Navy has a culture all its own.
Brother I was a submariner in the late 70s and after my discharge I enlisted in the Army infantry, thank you for your service.
They’re sleep deprived, just remember that. These hate comments about how they speak make me sick. You gotta remember this ship runs 24/7.
U gotta remember thia is 2020 and nobody cares
Melo NassZZZ shut up 9 year old
@@anekinvillegas3517 not 9 but ok
@@anekinvillegas3517 my guy you make roblox videos. I would not be talking

We civilians sleep better at night knowing you folks are out there watching our flanks on the surface, below the surface and in the air. Superb video! (I served in the Navy, 1970-1971, as a HN. I never had the pleasure of going to sea. My dad served in WWII up until mid-1961. My brother served as a chaplain in the early 1990's, The old scuttlebutt that "the Navy is a family" remains true for life. A huge "thanks" to every one of you outstanding ("4-0" in old Navy terminology) people!! Thank you so very much!
this was the best video from the navy or should i say from all over the world, it really shows what it’s like to belong to the navy and what it’s like to build a family not of blood but of friendship, it also shows the values of the navy and that everyone has a reason there be. They really convinced me one day 5 years from now to enroll in the Navy
The Navy allowed my Army unit to get on USS Port Royal in Hawaii. Not fun at all. Bumped my head at least 20 times. Hit my knees on everything in my path. I salute you guys.
Lol right when i leave the ship they record a video about it. Miss yall.
Fair winds! Thank you for your service!
outstanding very well done and should make all Americans proud that these young people are defending us.
Makes me proud to be an American! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I could never do that.
I'm glad someone out there loves doing it.
The guy is correct about sleeping well, when our squadron went to sea with the carrier, the rocking of the ship makes you sleep very well.
As a civilian protected by the work that you do on a daily basis, all that I can say is, THANK YOU for everything that you do for this country and know that we are very proud of you. Please stay safe and sail on.
Wow. Look at all that electronics! There's been a few improvements since the early 60's when I was a Fire Control Tech (FTG) on the USS Fletcher DD445. We had tubes & a few transistors in our Mark 25 radar with it's 50 mile range back then. Transistors were just being introduced. The rear 3 inch FC Mark 56 radar had faster electronics than our 5 inch 38 system
I love that bond you guys have.
Thank you for your service. I am a former Vietnam vet. Be safe!
wow, that gave me a real sense of pride and a tear in my eye. America's Navy is National Treasure and so important to all of us. Thank you for your service and thank you to the Navy for posting such a wonderful video. Our country is what it is because of the people, we are what makes this country so great.
@my7571 you've obviously never been anywhere else. Sad fool
Lots of respect for the U.S Navy. Thank you.
I am so proud of these sailors. Proud to be an American!
Love these Awesome Amazing Beautiful People I thank you From Canada ❤😊
Being on a DDG was one of the most rewarding and stressful times in my life. You really learn what it is to be a Sailor onboard a small boy.
The best of America, God bless them and keep them safe. Semper Fi
You guys and girls have so much better stuff then we had .I was on a ddg made in old days.I was in the navy 76-80 so look back on those days.Go Navy
Former Marine here. I lived on a Navy ship for seven months (Shreveport LPD-12) and lived at the Naval base in Rota, Spain for three months. I really treasure my time working closely with the Navy.
Fifty five years later I still miss the Destroyer life. DLG7.
Always loved the look of that class, but they were all east coast ships. I was on the Fox, CG-33, and she was a sweetheart. But, I did miss the sound of those LM-2500s spooling up to a scream!
Thank you all for your great and brave service.
Wonderful presentations. Great first-hand testimony about service on a "small boy" (WWII slang for a "tin can") from various members of the crew.
Canadian Navy Veteran... great vid. I was our version of a ET. I concentrated on internal and external communications and tactical data links.
God bless all our men and women who serve🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
my7571 apparently you
wow, what a small world. I remember Ashley from high school. Thank you for yall service!
"We Bring the Heat".....well put!
I served on the USS BRISCOE DD-977 and I had a blast...GO NAVY!!!
Fun times. Love watching these come into port at San Diego
Mmmm.
Good to see my fellow native North Carolinians representing! Much love from an NC Airmen!
Thank you.
Thank you for your services. We owe you a debt of gratitude. God Bless all our servicemen & women. Stay safe.
Arleighs are and were the most beautiful and dangerous tips of our NAVY. Awesomeness! I would like to include our officers in some of these documentaries as we did work hard too!
My father was chief petty officer machinist mate for 20yrs in the Navy I remember as a kid I would go on board his ship watch my father do what he does. Me and my sister are Navy brats until I joined the military as well..but it wasn't the Navy I did the Air Force 😆😆 good video and I salute you guys and women
I used to sail as a Merchant Navy...i really can feel the Brotherhood's😎...
Very well done. Very nostalgic for me also. I served over a 20 period on 4 classes of Canadian Navy Ships as a Sea King(H3) technician. Thank you to our American brothers and sisters for carrying the heaviest torch of world security in our present time.
Go USA! The world needs you now more than ever.
