Because they hadn’t won the title at that point? Years from now no one will even remember they lost to Michigan. The same way people don’t talk about Auburn beating Bama in 2017 before Bama won the title
OSU always emphasizes the Game. Prior to 4 years there were legit Ichigan fans that said they would never win again and switched on that team. 4 years is nothing compared to the drought y’all went through lol
Michigan couldnt recruit the last 3 to 4 years because harbaugh kept flirting with the NFL & no recruit is coming to a school whose coach will be gone by the tine they get there. Now that we have Moore who is going nowhere & now having plenty of money to spend with NIL they will start pulling top 5 to top 10 classes yearly. Something harbaugh couldnt do. Look at our 2025 class. Its a new era & michigan has the bankroll to get any players they want.
Why do you think Michigan seemingly didn't really even try in 2023 HS recruit and the off-season transfer portal? I honestly think Jim Harbaugh caused everything. He waited way too long to announce he was leaving, and on top of that, he took almost every key coach/coordinator he could. I really hate to admit it, but Harbaugh knew he was going from the jump, and bc of that, he did not even make an attempt to bring in new talent for the 2024 season. But for the rivalry, if they couldn't beat us at our absolute worst, then there is no chance they beat us in the next 3+ years
The simpletons like to think since we weren’t stealing signs this year that’s why we fell off. I’d like to see their program lose 18 starters on O and D, have two poor recruiting classes back to back because the HC has one foot out the door, their star QB, HC, and other key coaches all leave in mid February long after the main portal window is closed and there are no good QBs left, and see how their team does. Imo, 8-5 with the 2 huge wins we got at the end of the year is a miracle with what we had to deal with.
The future isnt stronger. I wouldnt necessarily say its weaker, but when you can lose to your rival, not win your conference championship, (let alone play in the game) and still win the National Championship, it devalues all of the national titles that came before it. 12-team play-off was a terrible idea. Allowing teams to play one or two fewer games, have 2 losses and still compete in a play-off lets you know we have a broken system.
LMAO not at all. If you want to be the best you need to beat the best and do so not subjectively but rather in game. I'm all in favor of doing away with conference championship games (except in cases of ties with no head-to-head matchups). Fact is this year proved why you play the games and not just rely on the opinions of the committee. Everyone before this playoff assumed that 1-4 was just going to walk all over 5-12 and that would prove that the expansion was pointless. Plot twist 1-4 were all eliminated in round 1 and the tournament was won by the 8 seed who had to go through #1 in week 2. Each team earned the right to be in that tournament and prove their worth. Some just went out and proved it.

Greatest rivalry in college football. However with the expansion of the ‘postseason’ I’m concerned that the regular season matchup may mean less. There is a strong possibility that these 2 teams can face each other up to 3 times in one year . I like the old way where you win that game or go home and think about that loss for 365 days ; while the winner gloats for a year!
They can play max 3 to 2 times in a season but last 4 years for Michigan to even make it in the playoffs was to beat Ohio State and vise versa. It would be cool to see Ohio State vs Michigan national championship game tho
The Game seems exciting now because both teams just won nattys. But in the long term it's been devalued from a single/final elimination game to jockeying for playoff spots. Not good.

Neither team who played in the Championship game played in a conference championship game. So they played one less game than all the other teams. (minus IU, who arguably didnt belong either)
All big programs have this dynamic. Ohio state wins in 2014-> Michigan hires Harbaugh. Bama wins in 09-> Auburn gets Cam and wins in ‘10. UNC bball wins in 09 Duke responds and wins in ‘10. Kentucky wins in ‘12 Louisville responds and wins in ‘13. Programs with enough resources and obsession will make things like this happen

The Game has been completely devalued by the new 12 team playoff. The reason The Game was so special is because the whole season for both teams built up to that moment where the winner moved onto the playoff, and the loser’s season was done, and they were forced to stew over the loss for 10 months. That’s all gone now.
I just dont want to see the scenario of no matter who wins The Game, they both meet the following week in the B1G Championship. It might be rare, but it could be a possibility, and at that point what happens in The Game?
Michigan won their Natty without an embarrassing loss to their rival, OSU best be thankful for the expanded playoffs or that would have been the end of your season and Ryan Day's Coaching Career at OSU!
20 years from now, Ohio State will reluctantly admit losing to Michigan was the best thing to happen. Just like Michigan reluctantly changing back to a tough running game and defense to finally beat Ohio consecutive years and win a title as well.
For decades the game was the defacto conference championship. That is no longer the case. The hate is still there but the need to win that game to go to the postseason is not
For Ohio State to Win it All, I’m not surprised. Even though Georgia was preseason #1, I think most people, fans and experts knew Ohio State was a better team and Georgia was overrated. What I am surprised is the Buckeyes won all 4 playoff games by double digits and covered in all 4, that’s Ridiculous
Reality set in for me after Ohio state won. This isn't even a Michigan OSU discussion. College football isn't the same going forward. You can lose to your rival and get rewarded. Go back to 4 teams otherwise, all these big games no matter who it is mean nothing
For Michigan it’s still the greatest rivalry in sports and the hatred is still there but ever since ohio won the championship but lost to Michigan their fans have tried to lessen the value of The Game!
The obsession with the result of that game is quite bizarre. I mean does anyone freak out over Alabama losing to Auburn in 2017 on the way to winning the title….
To be the champ you have to beat the champ. If there ever was a time for an asterisk it's now! They try to say Michigan should have one yeah right lol. Michigan won that title fair and square. Ofcourse bucknut guy will just dismiss all that and claim it a complete natty but everyone knows it's a little tainted
The Ohio State Michigan game is getting milked like a cash cow. The November game will be reduced to a exhibition game. the playoff rematch will void the results if both team are contenders. I wouldn't pay much to watch it anymore. .

Only thing I don’t like about 12 team playoff is I don’t like teams with 2 loses being able to win a national championship that takes away from every game being important like it used to be
It was like that prior, just had to be named Bama
Neither team who played in the Championship game played in a conference championship game. So they played one less game than all the other teams. (minus IU, who arguably didnt belong either)
It happened in the BCS era when 2007 LSU lost to a lousy Kentucky team and at home the last week of the season to unranked Arkansas
If we had a 4 team playoff this year, three of the teams would have had two losses. Has nothing to do with the format.
Yeah outside of Oregon everyone had a terrible record lol.
The competition between these two Football Blue Bloods has raised the level in the whole B10!!
Crying Ryan Day will lose his 5th straight in AA! #smash〽️ #hail
@@EKJ313_ Really! Just stop! Ohio State just went on the greatest National Championship run in college football history! You should focus on how Urban Meyer, and Ohio State, as well as other Ohio State coaches, have owned Jim Hairball, and their other head coaches, for more than two plus decades! Ohio State has beaten Michigan in 17 of the last 22 years, which means that Michigan has beaten Ohio State only 5 times in 22 years, not a good look for Michigan, and their fan base! ❤️🏈🌰😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
2023 national champion vs 2024 national champion
The Game next year is going to be insane.
Both teams will be eyeing for playoff seeding and probably a berth to the b10 title game!
the GAME is the natty
Michigan made ohio better. Go Blue!
Ohio State made harbaugh implement conner stalions' scheme. In a few months, we'll see what the committee on infractions has to say about it.
The Game between the Pantsless Champions and their Rival that means more than a national championship.
Just ask Jack Sawyer if he would trade a natty for a pair of gold pants. He was angrier after losing to Michigan than he was happier after winning the playoff.
“last two natty winners” promo finna hit 🔥

Boss up is owning the trench’s, try it stop crying.
Not trying to be funny but buying a championship doesn’t impress me 20 million dollars 😬
ohio 2-loss paper champ. Soft like Ryan Day. And Woody Hayes doesn’t matter to buckeyes I guess. Go Blue! SMASH 💙
Michigan still very much owns this decade, so far. 3 big 10 titles, 4 wins over OSU, 1 natty.
OSU has won 1 natty.
Good job buckeyes this year. If you think we’re gone and out though, you’ll wake up quickly over the next several seasons. See you guys again in November !
OSU owns this century. 3 natty’s. 6 B1G championships. 17 wins against Michigan.
Michigan - 1 natty. 3 B1G championships. 7 wins against Ohio State. 😮

We have to do better in 2025 #GoBlue
Go Blue!!!!!!!
Our “progrums” are made for each other. It’s like a love/hate relationship without all the love nonsense.
Tavein vs Bryce is gonna be epic
Go bucks!!!
I thought it was Sayin
@ he will be next year. But down the road, it will be tavien vs Bryce.(#1 qb pospect vs #2 for class of 25)
It just became THE GAME the only game on that could every year like 92% chance every year top 3 match up that could deside it all
I’m eagerly anticipating the game in November 2025, where OSU would face another heartbreaking loss in Ann Arbor.
Whelp. Good thang the next game is in MICHIGAN
Osu has a new rivalry that is much more relevant. It’s against the newest big fish in the conference #ducks
The New Golden Age of "THE GAME"!!! GO BLUE!!!
The rivalry is strong and well. Congrats to Ohio. Go blue
Michigan won their Natty without an embarrassing loss to their rival, OSU best be thankful for the expanded playoffs or that would have been the end of your season and Ryan Day's Coaching Career at OSU!
Impactfull rivalries are gone. Especially after they switch to a 16-team format. Rivalries can still exist. But not impactfull.
How does the song go you are always on my mind Ohio State just won a National Championship and what are the podcast talking about Michigan crazy
20 years from now, Ohio State will reluctantly admit losing to Michigan was the best thing to happen. Just like Michigan reluctantly changing back to a tough running game and defense to finally beat Ohio consecutive years and win a title as well.
It's Michigan's time to answer
I also think the 12 system playoff has greatly devalued THE GAME..
Montagues and Capulets
Wait I heard from OSU fans saying this game is a scrimmage now ?
For decades the game was the defacto conference championship. That is no longer the case. The hate is still there but the need to win that game to go to the postseason is not
Yes, the 12-team play-off has ruined the importance of The Game
@jessev5761 I wouldn't say ruined but rather reduced the significance
Notre Dame had a 21m dollar team
5 in a row incoming nov 29
For Ohio State to Win it All, I’m not surprised. Even though Georgia was preseason #1, I think most people, fans and experts knew Ohio State was a better team and Georgia was overrated. What I am surprised is the Buckeyes won all 4 playoff games by double digits and covered in all 4, that’s Ridiculous
The playoff expansion cheapens regular season rivalry games.
They better not let Ryan Day win another one
OSU dropping at least 4 games next season
Reality set in for me after Ohio state won. This isn't even a Michigan OSU discussion. College football isn't the same going forward. You can lose to your rival and get rewarded. Go back to 4 teams otherwise, all these big games no matter who it is mean nothing
I wonder if the 90% of osu fans who wanted Ryan day fired, still want him fired. Would look kinda bad now to change your mind
Both fan bases consider Ohio State illegitimate national champions. Their title this year will always have an *
Why would it have an *? They won the playoff.
For Michigan it’s still the greatest rivalry in sports and the hatred is still there but ever since ohio won the championship but lost to Michigan their fans have tried to lessen the value of The Game!
The Michigan Wolverines are 2024 de facto National Champions.
Every year you guys say, Ohio State is going to win and they lose! End of story!
The obsession with the result of that game is quite bizarre. I mean does anyone freak out over Alabama losing to Auburn in 2017 on the way to winning the title….
Alabama and Auburn do not understand..........
@ ok 😂
@@toddjohnson271no one can understand pure stupidity.
Yeah we forced Michigan to hire the CIA to spy on the entire B10. Great job JD for pointing that out. 😂
It’s a natty with an asterisk for OSU. Wouldn’t have that lump in your throat had you beaten Michigan
guessing michigan will continue to win like they do every year
We are still the king in the North, kiss the ring ohio
Ohio State A.K.A. The Tune Squad
To be the champ you have to beat the champ. If there ever was a time for an asterisk it's now! They try to say Michigan should have one yeah right lol. Michigan won that title fair and square. Plus they won the conference title. OSU won a tournament sure but even Urban Meyer said you can't be a ligit national champion if you can't win the game and your confidence! Ofcourse bucknut guy will just dismiss all that and claim it a complete natty but everyone knows it's a little tainted
Xichigan didn't boss up. They started creating
BlowHio State has been paying players since professor Tressel came aboard which is cheating before NIL
I see it going 6 in a row for Michigan.. for whatever reason Crying Day just can't beat Michigan.. Then he will be let go. Just saying.
The Ohio State Michigan game is getting milked like a cash cow. The November game will be reduced to a exhibition game. the playoff rematch will void the results if both team are contenders. I wouldn't pay much to watch it anymore. .
If Michigan moved to the big 12, when Ohio State and Michigan played it would return as the biggest game in college football. the loser is OUT!
I'm die hard life long Wolverine and obviously don't like OSU- but I respect them and they are always a great team. Sharty on the other hand talks as much shit but they generally suck and need to back off.

We have fought wars since our founding. There was almost a literal war over Toledo. DO the research.
This is what people wanted complained and cried about to have regular season games rivalries and conference titles to mean nothing.
There were a lot who did NOT want a 12-team play-off expanded to 6 or maybe 8, yes, but not 12.
Then their are the sheep who dont think, just consume product and demand more, lessoning the quality of said product.

Up until that point we didn’t need to address the issue. Michigan caused us to address an issue. Once we did….we rolled. Those or similar game plans would have gave us more than 13. Cmon? OSU scoring 10 points. You mean to tell me that all the other teams that beat Michigan had better offenses than OSU? Where was the D those games? Sorry man, not buying it.
