- Happy Spooky Month! Dracula must die... again. Super Castlevania IV for the SNES brought Simon Belmont into the 4th generation of gaming. A dark atmospheric platformer full of monsters and stairs.

How tf does this guy have less than 1000 subs??? Dude great work
I finished this game during the pandemic on my ps5. One of my favorites of all time now. Crazy how during that time I went back to a whole bunch of old games on a new console. They don’t make them like they used too.
This might be the best review of Super Castlevania 4 I've seen in a really long time. You're absolutely right too like...where the hell did this talking point that Super Castlevania 4 is easy and is somehow a mark against the game? You will die dozens of times during your first playthrough and even if you're seasoned at it there's so many situational things that can kill you that it becomes more a roll of the dice than skill. None the less it's a masterpiece of level design, art and music yet people can't take their face out of the laps of Rhondo Of Blood and SOTN long enough to appreciate this timeless classic. I would love that "another day" when you give your take on those because while I like those two games with Richter, I still feel like Castlevania 4 and Bloodlines were better games with more action, better controls and unique set pieces than many others in the series. It's too bad that Konami didn't get to make games for more Sega platforms like the Master System, Game gear and we almost got one with Dreamcast. I also miss the days of when Konami could do no wrong but sometimes things happen for a reason and look how many other fantastic studios were born out of them leaving Konami like Treasure. Good stuff! 😇
It's something I loath about the community: sometimes good things can't be seen for what they are due to comparisons. Years ago 4 was a beloved game, but nowadays Rondo and SOTN are considered the two best and discussion ends there.
The entire franchise is peak minus a few games. That's nothing to scoff at, and if anything the variety of what you get is awesome. Just cus game A is amazing it doesn't mean games B or C aren't.
Amazing review. I played it a bit once a few years back, and it is an almost religious experience. Best atmosphere in an old game I've seen or heard.
Yeah i agree. Castlevania 1-3 felt like it was made just to test your insane skills. But Castlevania 4 was like going on holidays after such a long chore. It was such a refreshing fun game in my view!
@@matrix91234 Fun Fact Indiana Jones was a big inspiration on the first Castlevania.
"Dracula never stays down"
Damn, that was....really impactful, very effective way to close out what you had to say about the current state of Konami.
This was a crazy game to play as a kid. Had fun playing Mario World and DK Country w/my brothers, but Vania 4 gripped me. The game my brothers couldn't beat, didn't play often, but became MY game. Was the first game I ever beat, was as fun as it was traumatic, filled with such dark imagery and emotional music. A plot that, while simple, had stakes: Simon didn't just fall of the screen or catch his head... he died, his corpse would lay there. You had to kill Dracula or else these disgusting monsters would kill everyone in the world. It was a proper journey, and it was then I started to care about games.
To this day it's hard for me to be engaged in a game the way this game hit me. Sure I was impacted due to age, but this game just let it's visuals and audio do the talking.
Same here. When I was 8 years old, my mom took me to Walmart and told me to pick out some games in the used bin. I picked this one up because the sticker art looked cool. It only came with the cartridge in the white cardboard cartridge holder and shrinkwrapped (no manual, no nothing, just the cartridge). I was going in blind, and man, this game blew me away when I first played it. I hadn’t even heard of Castlevania before, so the idea of Dracula being the main boss was freaking epic. I’ve played various Castlevania games after that, but all these years later, IV will always be my favorite Castlevania of all time. :)

sick shit, as always. To me, only two games make me feel like halloween no matter what: castlevania 4 and Diablo 1.
The definitive Castlevania.
You love to see it.
Dude, your videos are top notch, this channel is a must
So, when the singer pronounces "Simon" as "Seemon" in the Dracula Perfect Selection rap version of "Vampire Killer", it's correct.
I can remember playing it when it came out!
Incredibly well done video, you should have more subs

Thanks. That game owes me $60.
Sounds like Kojima has a skill issue.
Maybe he should write less, and focus on compelling gameplay. But maybe I should press 'F' to pay respect to his brainchild series. *sips tea*
