LOL "Cooks will tell ...That's not HOW I do it" [rooster crows in the background without skipping a beat].
Mr. Robert's wisdom about the lost art being preserved is something I've witnessed first hand. I worked as an apprentice for two months (on a project I hired him to help me with) with the 3rd generation German Jewish sheet metal worker (he died about 10 years ago) and we both lamented that all he has learned is not being passed on. After that, he took on another interested person and showed him much of what he learned. But now there is no sheet metal "master" in the area.
Your documenting the trade arts is important work. I wish there were something like the National Trust that could help underwrite your efforts as well had hold the digital content (Google will probably start charging for videos like this in the future).
"Do I know everything? No!" -- that's the sign of a humble master.
I wish I had a Mr. Robert near me in Salem, OR... probably do and I'll contact Cook's to find out.

Mr Robert, Thanks for the great instructional videos here on RUclips. I am waiting for my Cats Claw Sharpener and two tooth setter from Cook in August. I have made up the electric motor brush cleaner and it works great cleaning rust and debris from the blades. I also made the 3" PVC cap with sponge for mounting once I receive the machinery. Did you mount the cap to the right side metal side plate with machine bolt through cap to hold in place for blade to slide through? I have built white oak and red oak work stations for these to set on in the shop. My sawmill is a Cook MP-32 16' length logs motorized head and motorized carriage. Several folks around us here have Woodmizer LT-15s. I am getting cams for Cook and Woodmizer blades 7/8" 8 degree to start with. Thanks again for sharing your valuable knowledege. I bought a cat claw sharpener and dual tooth setter. The sharpener seems to be pretty good. The bearings get really hot but I keep them lubricated. The setter however has been a thorn in my side. It came with almost every bolt and nut loose and nothing was set as they claimed it would be. I want to get it working and use it and this will help!

@@TCSawmills well I did what he said they did I loosened everything and used the shim stock they sent with my setter and reset all the base values. I am now within 2 or 3 thousandths on either side. Much better!! This video was a huge help! Thank you!

Very helpful. I didn't have any luck zeroing my gauges on the gullet. Probably because I'm bad about not cleaning my blades. But, I've had better luck using a neutral tooth. I like to hit a neutral tooth and then advance my blade a few times and I usually end up finding an average of a few neutral teeth. Then, I do the same for the other side. The setter can be very finicky sometimes. I've found that if things seem off, they are.
I have a cam for my cat claw sharpener that the previous owner said was for Wood Mizer doublehard and that's what I run. But, when I sharpen a blade for the first time, I have to take a lot out of the gullet right below the face of the tooth. I can't get a full sweep on the first pass without grinding too heavy. Then, I have to be ready for it to start the second pass so that I can adjust the finger, or it will only take a lot of material off the face of the tooth. Is that just how it is, or is something wrong? Thanks again, Mr. Robert!

I'm also curious about how many blades per hour a proficient man should be able to process with one setter and one sharpener.
