It's really interesting to see how guitarist Chris Cohen, who appears usually on the left, goes from this really discordant abrasive guitar playing to putting out very soft easy listening music as a solo artist. An extremely talented songwriter that seems to always surprised people with something new
Before this video I always felt like Ed had two distinct ages: baby Ed (short hair, just joined deerhoof, babyfaced) and current Ed (long hair, elaborate outfits, full grown man). But now I've seen a third form of Ed: even more babyfaced Ed wearing a SWEATERVEST
This was the year I graduated high school! Little did I know this band was out there making this wonderful music, and would completely sweep me off my feet with the release of The Runners Four not long after. Been a respectful amount of obsessed ever since 😁
I'm always amazed at how timeless these old shows are. You could play this live today exactly the same and it would melt people's faces. Crowd doesn't even know how to live.
What a treasure. For me personally its especially odd that when I was only 3 years old, all of this was out happening somewhere. Idk if that makes sense to anyone, its just trippy for me to think abt.
that is pretty crazy to think about. I was a sophomore in HS and listening to like...Green Day (no shade). I only got into Deerhoof a year ago. I love seeing this stuff from their unknown days. They were just as awesome as they are now. It just took a while for it to catch on.
Friend brought me to see Deerhoof on this tour I think, college days. I wasn’t really familiar and wasn’t expecting to be blown away. But I absolutely was!! That live version of Holy Night Fever tho… like Animal on the drums
I might add that after moving from NY to FL, I’ve now moved to Asheville and will be seeing Deerhoof for the first time in probably 15 years in like a week 😊
Do you remember the musician who opened for you guys in 2003 in Boston. I remember her having like dark reddish hair, medium length and she played the piano and sang with a low deep voice. Something about Alaska. Anyway I’ve been trying to figure this out since 2003. Thanks
@@DeerhoofVidsCollection oh my god it is I just looked. It was Antarctica not Alaska. Wow only took 18 years. Unless it was 2004. Thank you so much Greg!!

The post pandemic world (if we get there) needs deerhoof shows!

Perhaps the most insane looking kit I've seen Greg play!!!
Brilliant. I saw Deerhoof for the first time that same year, with The Ex in Nottingham.

It was fun!
Hey Greg! Please upload a similar video for the Runners Four tour, or Milk Man tour, or Friend Opportunity tour! That would make me happy forever

Love it Greg, thanks Ed for filming! Love how brutally loud and angular the guitars sound!

Hi
This is so good! Any chance of a rundown on tour dates? I recognise many of these magical spaces
I dunno, but do you know what amps they are using? I love the guitar tones from this era...
Kinda cute
