Seeing Eleanor falling asleep made my heart float on air. Memphis rubbing her head on the bed I love. Poor Kira she wants to play with her sister so bad. Eleanor is so cute in her onsie, maybe Kira shoulf wear hers to support her sister. I hope both of you are recovering well.
I remember the time Oakley had to have the emergency surgery. Thank you for sharing it all with us . Teaching us what to do in case. Love all the girls : Shiloh, Shelby, Oakley, Memphis , Kira , and little miss Eleanor . Be patient Kira you will be able to play with her soon
Hi Jessica! You were right, the Eleanor butt wiggle when trying to shake off the onesie is so cute! Glad she is recovering so well! Michelle from Omaha
A lot of great information! My friends sadly lost their Neapolitan Mastiff due to bloat. Get will soon, Eleanor, before Kira makes Mom crazy! And Memphis, of course, you're an angel.
bloat with the stomach twisting on the ingoing esophagus and outgoing intestines is torsion, which is what the suturing to the body wall is for, to prevent torsion/twisting.
Thank you so much for your work at informing the community on bloat!! I knew it existed but was not aware of how to deal with it. I grew up with dogs and horses and we never had a problem with it with the dogs, but I had one horse we almost lost to it. The signs and treatments are a little different, but the seriousness and fear I felt are very much the same. I about lost the horse to it, but due to a Grandpa who knew more than the vet we were able to to save the horse. It is very serious and should not be made light of in any sense. It is important that you practice precaution and keep an eye set for. Just to let you know, my horse "bounced back" from it to the point she was going to live at 8:45 am and the night before we had scheduled the vet to come and put the horse to sleep at 10:00 a.m. and the horse lived a healthy 15 years past that date. A surgical suit won't work on a horse; instead I had to walk her 4 times a day; yes, I walked my horse at the end of the of a leash like you would a dog...and we fed her massive dose of cod liver oil for the first week. But if you love your animals, you do it. Listen to what Jessica tells you about successfully fighting any illness, but especially bloat in any of her dogs; she knows. She know what she''s talking about!!
It happened a year ago to my Samoyed dog Shiloh at 2 am - I was lucky I had read the signs on Facebook only a week before and live 5 min from emergency clinic here in suburb outside Vancouver. Her surgery was $6,000.00 would have been $10,000. If I’d left her in the 2 extra days they wanted but took off work and onky 5 min from the 24 hr Emerg clinic that did the surgery. First thing they said at clinic is “up to $10,000. Or alternate is euthanasia. I can’t imagine being in the position not to have done it I don’t know why vets don’t educate every patient in GDV
We might need to have that done on our walker treeing hound. I need to check up on that. It don't matter what the cost, gotta take care of our fur babies.
here in Chile, LATAM, we have copper recovery suits for dogs and cats! mine went to surgery to remove some small tumors where her breast were, and also her breast. The copper makes the suit antibacterial and that's why they add this material to the suits or what we call them enteritos hahah. She looked adorable and it made the recovery a bit more comfortable.
Eleanor looks adorable in her onsies on it match her fur perfectly glad she's doing great after her surgery silly kira wants to play Memphis being good as always. Thanks for sharing this bloat is very scary my dog had a onsies when we got her spayed it's so good to have it. Great information
Thank you for this vlog, my girl is in for her spay in a couple of weeks. And as it is getting closer all the doubts are setting in. Watching this helped relieve a lot of those, 🥰
Sending you puppy hugs Eleanor for a speedy recovery. And sending Memphis and Kira hugs too just because they are being so good and taking care of their little sister. 💖🐶🤗🥰xxx
Hugs to your brother (and to you as well). Yeah, it's not something a lot of people know about, and so many people mistakenly think it can only happen to certain breeds! The elective surgery gives such a comforting piece of mind.
My husky mix has issues with the sedatives and wakes up funny from anesthesia. I found out later huskies wake up slower sometimes. They're just an interesting breed. I've really enjoyed my girl.
Eleanor looks so adorable in her onesies. Poor baby girl don't get to play like she really like to do for a few days. But it's better safe than sorry. It's not fun to have a beloved family pet to experience something as painful as bloating or any type of illness. Have a wonderful weekend Jessica,Jamie, Memphis,Kira and Eleanor.💖💖💖💖
Thanks for the update on Eleanor. Thanks for explaining about bloat in deep chested large dogs, and surgery to help prevent bloat. Also thanks for showing us the surgical onesie on Miss Eleanor. That does seem better than using the cone.
They are so cute. When I got my dogs and cats spayed/neutered, the vet only said don't let them get their stitches wet. So they got to run around outside and play with no concern. They did great. I like that you are so careful with your dogs.
Wow! That's crazy! Yeah they aren't supposed to run around, jump or play, as they could bust open the stiches'. I have never had a vet say otherwise. We won't risk having the stiches' bust open!
I just love those mesmerizing and mysterious eyes of your Eleanor. I love you all, Kira your such a stinker. Memphis I love your quiet confidence and caring presence and your such a good girl. Xoxo to all.
We had a little dog with bloat. It was completely out of the blue we ended up losing him. He was to old and didn't make it. So this is such a good idea.
Do you know how many people tell me "it can't happen in little dogs". I think that's the hardest thing, is people really think it can't happen to their dog because of size, or breed or whatever, and it 100% can. #hugs to you!
Well wishes for a speedy recovery, Eleanor ♥️You look adorable in your onesie ♥️ Feel better cute pupper ♥️ Cuddles to you Eleanor, Kira, & Memphis. Appreciate the update & the very informative information ♥️ ♥️Thank you♥️♥️

Although as he’s getting older, he’s calm down way more. He just turned 13 in January but sometimes he still acts like a puppy.

Get well, Eleanor. Pray for her be strong after the surgery. My Thai girlfriend she had a red female golden retriever Jimmy. Her already spayed last year and was doing well. Cute Memphis and Kira. Kira likes to play with Eleanor

WOW! Two months is so early. Honestly I think that's part of the reason Memphis blew out her knee as well. She was spayed to early, because at the time, I didn't know. That is that hard part with rescues and shelters. They want to spay and neuter early because they don't want any chance of accidental litters, which is understandable. Rescues and Shelters have mission statements they must uphold. Both Kira and Eleanor's breeders asked us not to spay them until their growth plates closed, and even helped us determine when they were ready. Which was really nice.
I feel so bad for your dog for having to go through such trauma especially that young . Did she develop mostly OK after the surgery and do you think she is mostly pain free currently?
@@SleeplessinOC After her bi-lateral knee surgery a month later she ended up needing another surgery on one of the same legs since she broke her femur. She developed okay after surgery, but her knees today are still fragile. She is mostly pain free, but during the cold/winter months and even in the summer sometimes we have to continue to give pain meds since her legs still hurt from time to time. She loves to run around and play, so we have to watch her to make sure she doesn't re-injure herself.

Yeah I got Memphis done young as well. I won't ever do it again. When they get older is when you can see the effects of a young spay. BUT not all dogs have issues, and again, it's a personal preference for sure. We choose to wait now, so their growth plates can properly close, and they have less of a risk of arthritis and joint issues when they are older. I honestly feel like Memphis blowing out her knee had a lot to do with an early spay. It's just a theory, and I can't really prove it, but after A LOT of research, I feel like that was a part of it.
