The Indian Rojak you find in Singapore is uniquely Singaporean, created by the Singapore Indian Muslim stall owners - over the years, they have added so many different kind of items.
The Rojak you find in Malaysia, is uniquely Malaysian, created by the Malaysia Indian Muslim stall owners. They usually have only these items (staple); hicama, beansprouts (optional), cucumber, fritter (with or w/out prawns), towfoo, boiled egg, potato, green chilly and yellow noodles, all drenched in a lovely peanut sauce (which i believe some mix sweet potato to get a thick consistency).
My grandfather came from Kerala to Malaysia and ran a small makan shop - he cooked mee goreng, rojak, prata, and Indian mix rice. My mom learnt from him, and myself and my sister learnt from my mom. This is also the reason why mamak mee goreng in Malaysia is different than the mamak me goreng in Singapore.

I worked in Jakarta for 14 years and just came back to SG for good in March this year. There was a very good nasi padang stall where we used to order dinner. They had a set dinner menu. My partner liked their beef rendang set. I always ordered paru set. It was crunchy and soft at the same time. Unique texture. Coupled with the red and green sambal and vegetables was heavenly but could only eat that at most twice weekly as the heat from sambal was too much for me.

I went there many times since I was young, the prime supermarket have a small foodcourt and they were at the corner end of the building. It's way back in the 2000's era or perhaps 90s I can't really remember but I used to go there with my brother or father and buy for my whole family when I was 8 or older. Now I'm already in my mid 30s and married with kids. I haven't go to their new location near the NTUC income ever since they shifted there cos it's not really a convenient spot. I'm quite surprised that it's still packed with people. Can't blame anyone cos their Indian rojak is still one of the best and their gravy is consistent over the years. Still taste the same whenever I eat there. I always get the cuttlefish, sausage, fish cake, prawn fritter, egg fritter, potato fritter, kuchai fritter, i believe they also have the spinach fritter, fried tempe, paru and some other random ones. I like that they fried it again and it got crispy bits outside. Very shiok when dipped in the gravy. Don't pour it cos it will get soggy and chewy just like your last bites. Best is separate the gravy. 👍🏻
