  • Join me for a much needed camping adventure in the Aussie bush! At the end of a long day, I show you how I chose my campsite and set up my tarp and hammock. I cook up some great food and brew up some coffee on a little hiking stove. I show you my Swiss army knife and an awesome new bushcraft knife. The scenery on my hike out is not bad either!
    Thanks for watching!

    To make setting up the tarp easier, just tie coloured tape or paracord to the tie off points. Use different colours for each configuration e.g. yellow cord attached to the points for a diagonal setup, blue for ploughpoint etc. This way you just lookout for the colours. Set it up at home as you want it and tie on the coloured tape to the tie of points you used. Preparation at home makes living in the field some much easier. Tie knots in the coloured cord for ease of setup in low light conditions - different number of knots for each configuration.

    Great Video once again 👌👌😎 the key to using any of these stoves is "less is more" don't go full throttle as a lot of the heat is lost out the side and also a lightweight wind shield is worth it's weight in gold for fuel consumption and eratiic flames from wind😎👍

Thank you so much for taking us out on a beautiful overnighter, apart from smelling it, I felt I was there with you. Great job buddy. Say, why not chuck a gold pan in your gear and have a play on the inside bends of the river, dig the fine gravel, you just never know what gold may be sitting there. Safe travels to you. Cheers from Mario.

    Hi Erik, another awesome video. Scotty certain puts together some amazing videos, but your camera work and editing is certainly up there too and getting better all the time.
    Looks like you had a much needed short break away from work. :)
    Thanks for the shout out, I certainly appreciate your support also. I think you should get a pack raft, as it would certainly give you more options. Your pack seemed pretty heavy already so I doubt you'd notice an extra 1.5 Kgs :)
    If you want to try before you buy I'm sure we could organise a meet up and do a collaboration video so you could give my raft a go.
    I took my rapid raft to NZ recently and have a short video uploading at the moment of the raft out on Moke Lake.
    As always, thanks for sharing your experiences and producing such good content!

    Watching through this, I had to double check the date because of the 2019-2020 black summer bushfires. Basically could not go hiking at all as virtually all good multiday bushland within 200km of Sydney went up in flames. I remember getting up one morning, walking outside and watching it rain ash, realising it was going to be a terrible summer. Next summer NSW gets smashed with its first true wave of covid and restrictions and I haven't had a good hike in years. Im just longing to get away like nothing before.

    Another awesome video mate, spent some time a couple of years ago now in kosciuszko np and the horses at night were really bad, hardly slept, they just hung around all night very disconcerting as they are a large animal. Chris bamman is going awesome hey, love his work.

    You rock too mate, great video once again. Those wild dogs would put the wind up me.
    I have always wondered about animals in the Aussie bush that probably don't belong there. Deer, Cats, Panthers, yeti's. lol
    I had something right along side my tent one night, pitch black, breathing heavy. When I tried to shoe it away by hitting the inside of the tent, it let out a very low pitched growl. Not sure what it was, but Im thinking it could have been a large lace monitor, but ill never know.

    • @ERIKOFFTRACK
      @ERIKOFFTRACK  4 года назад +1

      Thanks Jim! Animal sounds can certainly be disconcerting at night (especially when they growl!) I once had a wombat spend the entire night next to my tent eating grass, this was just after my mate who I was camping with told me about the hilarious video he saw of a wombat running straight through a tent and destroying it!

    Great to see you get out Eric for what seems a much needed break. At one time or another in the past u can see how burnt out that area had been. It will always eventually rejuvenate given time. My Backyard is quite similar up here in the tropics (except for wild horses), I have a few clips on my own channel that shows the diversity in drought and flood . Love the Ironbark knife, will look into one for myself..

    Hi Erik, do any of your videos give advice on how to find good spots? I'd love to do this in QLD but it's hard to know where to look. Seems most places are within private property or are inaccessible due to terrain/vegetation. Tips?

    • @ERIKOFFTRACK
      @ERIKOFFTRACK  4 года назад +2

      Hey thanks for watching! I have thought about doing this, but so far decided against it. There is a just certain level of skill and experience required to do this sort of thing and I don't want to give people the idea that there are shortcuts. I spend many hours using topographic maps and satellite imagery to scout out publicly accessible land, including access points. The reality on the ground can often be different and sometimes it takes a few trips to get a feel for a places. Not sure what your level of experience is, but I would suggest starting with local bushwalking guide books and taking it from there.
