I can not believe it has been almost 8 years since I found your guys channel.. I still look forward to all of your content. it has been a such a great journey and I am so thankful for all those great adventures I and many others were able to be part of. Thank you kyde and eric
Just watching Kyde walk from the two sinks to the showerroom my eyes suddenly teared up because I realized I’ve been ‘travelling’ with you for 8 years and it has brought me so much joy. I’ve travelled extensively myself but the closest thing to that has to be watching you guys. Thank you for sharing your life with us in this way, your channel is truly a gem! PS: Kyde is one of the funniest people in the world. Period.
Thanks for Biwa part two. When Kyde started her eggy lunch my mouth opened in a reflex action expecting to be fed. Given how cold the lake water is perhaps you could use it as an anaesthetic on your cycling aches and pains. Looking forward to seeing part three.
Great trip! I used to go to lake Biwa while summer vacation when I was a kid. 8:50 The prime season for that metasequoia street would be Fall or Winter (I've been there too!)
The outro is amazing, but the whole thing is. Thanks for the trip! the cabbage patch was pretty cool and the Frogger shrine was awesome. The restaurant food looked amazing and your dinners from 711 looked pretty great too! Really loving this adventure.
Didn't expect to see skunk cabbage! We have that all over the forests and swamps in Rhode Island here in the states! And yes, they do have pretty yellow flowers, with a bigger testicle inside! :D
Great scenic views! It seems like you had a little trouble finding food/restaurants (at least, it was inconvenient to get to them by bicycle). I would have thought that there might be better infrastructure for making the loop around Lake Biwa for bicyclists. On the other hand, you have found so many really interesting things to stop for.
Yes it does and the stink is incredible you wouldn’t be so happy! LOL you came at the right season, skunk cabbage has a fear smell and bugs are attracted to it especially flies
11:09 Kyde made a prediction and at 33:19 she almost fulfilled that prediction. except everyone was doing it so it doesn't count. That did seem kinda dangerous that they didn’t have some sort of way to stop the traffic.
That ‘vampire’ and ino shishi are characters from Kimetsu no Yaiba. 😂 the town near lake Biwa called Toyosato has loads of anime themed traffic dudes too!

I actually know some stuff about skunk cabbage! My uncle who used to live in Sitka Alaska told me while we were hiking that when bears hibernate they eat a bunch of stuff like rocks to make there stomach’s full over the winter then when it’s time for them to wake up they eat a massive amount of skunk cabbage to get things moving with all of that fiber to pass that junk they don’t need anymore through.
I have tried/cooked many of the foods you have shown on your channel (currently planning my own 'nugs' experiment). But my favourite has to be Dorayaki. A place near my home make a Matcha custard Dorayaki which is amazing.
At 10:41 they decorated those signs as Demon Slayer characters jeez that show really is huge in Japan if you randomly find them on something like in the inaka that’s wild!
Did you have padded chamoix bike shorts on underneath your pants Kyde??? If not.. highly recommend a pair for your next bike trip!! Saves the tush for sure!!!! :)
google doesn't differentiate between jinga and shrine. It calls shiraga a shrine but on a japanese page it has a picture and the name shiraga jinja in the caption. google uses temple for places that honor the dead
I'd translate a jinja as a shrine, so I think google is right in that. It's not always super clear which you are standing in front of, however. There are strong signals if you know what to look for, but sometimes shine things are at temples and vice versa making it complicated. Or there will be a shrine AT a temple and if you are standing in one part of the area you will think one thing and walk 10 feet and think the other lol
Great video as always. I really want to travel with you guys. :) How did the bath set up work in that guest house? You said that the water was already heated. Is it like a communal thing with the same water for all? I was grossed out but then I am thinking it is the same thing with a hot tub and I have no isssue with that usually. I need more info...
