A lot of the "it's better" with corn syrup and all that is largely due to nostalgia. It's what y'all are used to. If you grow up eating the real sugar, that's usually what you prefer. If you grow up eating corn syrup, that's generally what you'll prefer because that's what's nostalgic and familiar to you.

I would love to see a US Vs UK chocolate taste test. Not blindfolded though, or maybe yes with blindfolds. Imo you can't compare Hersey's with real chocolate.
That's not to say Hershey doesn't taste good, but it's texture is definitely chalky and doesn't really have any sort of creaminess to it.
