    It cam never be said enough, thank you for your service.
    I consider military and first responders to be part of the same extended brotherhood. I've been a volunteer firefighter for 20 years plus.
    I assume that we share a similar dark humor as well.
    Unfortunately, Fire and EMS and Police like veterans (not comparing numbers) have high rates divorce, PTSD and suicide as well.
    Thanks for the shout out.

    Remember when I got out of the service, I felt lost for quite a while. Being told when to get up, one to eat, want to take a crap, and let's not forget when you go to bed, when you get out of the service, then to your own devices. All I really wanted to do, was BF some kind of help to someone. Granted I've been out of the service now for close to 40 years, and due to my own self-destructive way of life, it cost me my site. But I still managed to raise three kids, one has followed me into the service, the other two have graduated college, so I feel that I did something right

    @TormentedVet, thank you for your service and time overseas and as well for the short time in the Fire Service. Back when this song was brand new, first time hearing it on the radio, I'll be honest, I shed some tears because I have two Marine Veteran Cousins who went overseas and thankfully both made it home, but I know they coulda easily been killed too. I am friends with my local Fire Chief in town and love shooting pics of fire trucks. I pray for them when they are called out. My hats off to these men and women who sacrifice their lives for others.

    I grew up in a small town. The mayor was a high school teacher, the Fire Chief was a high school teacher who lived on the corner of my street, we had 3 EMTs living across the street from us, and everyone was really close.

    My thoughts on the school shooting around here we believe to help vets and help them get jobs when the world turns away we hire vets that guard the schools and they get the chance to talk to the kids and teach them about what the experienced to keep is free ❤

    When you talked about the limited ability to make phone calls while overseas it brought a memory up that I hadn't thought about in a long time. Back in 2002-2003 my best friend's Dad got deployed. My memory is a little fuzzy as I was 7-8 at the time, but I remember this story. I'm guessing he was at FOB and got the opportunity to call his wife. During the phone call she heard an explosion and he suddenly said I've got to go and hung up. The FOB had been attacked and he got into a fire fight. He called her later and told her he was ok, but she was pretty messed up for a while. I remember going to the airport at the end of his deployment. There were about 50 of us there to greet him with signs. I was young enough I didn't really know what was happening or what he'd gone through. But I remember my friend seeing his Father for the first time in months and running and Jumping into his arms. I thank God for the men like you and him who sacrificed so much, and for the ones who paid the ultimate price for my freedom. Thank You.

    I've watched a few seasons of SEAL team and even though they do their best (have vets on set and as actors) some things aren't done 'right'/aren't completely realistic because it's still a tv show. We actually named our cat Winchester because in an episode our favorite character radios what he has for ammo and then says they will be Winchester.

    only problem i see with giving a teacher a gun, is when one takes it too far, seeing something in a 'troubled student', seeing ghosts in the shadows, and shooting an innocent kid. I believe schools need more armed guards, true, but not to arm teachers.

    • @TormentedVet_Reactions
      @TormentedVet_Reactions  Год назад +2

      I don’t feel every teacher should be armed. I feel it should be a choice. Not everybody has it in them to pull the trigger in the time of need.

    • @TheLastSane1
      @TheLastSane1 Год назад

      The thing is that we know from actual events in school that guards don't always work. Because the truth is if the shooter is a student they can observe the guards patterns. In fact in one shooting, in fact it might have been as far back as Columbine, the shooter knew where the guard would be and shot them in the back and took their gun. So its not as simple as add guards.
      Another issue we have seen arise in these schools is that teachers then become incredibly quick to call the police or the officer on campus to deal with "Troublemaking Students" we have seen numerous videos of police handcuffing 8 year olds because they wouldn't stop talking when the teacher told them too. And other teachers have brought this up as a serious complaint that some teachers are using the threat of violence against the children to keep the kids in line. This is a serious issue because this means your child is not there to learn they are there to be controlled and intimidated. And of course will grow up with serious authority and trust issues.
      Sure there are plenty of teachers who will not call the cops in to handle a student being unruly but the fact is we have seen numerous cases (normally involving children of color) where the officer comes in and physically assaults the minor. Again we have seen cases where 8 year olds, six year olds are being manhandled by grown ass men for talking back to a teacher. (which to remind everyone is not in fact against the law). So you want more guards and guns, sure. I don't because all its going to do is make the schools more and more into prisons we simply do not need to treat children like convicted criminals.
