- The Dall Mays Houses are two rare surviving structures from the 1870’s on Cleveland’s east side. Both homes, in a severe state of deterioration, were condemned by the City of Cleveland and slated for likely demolition. However, the Cleveland Restoration Society is diligently working to stabilize and save these threatened landmarks from eminent loss. Although the final fate of these dwellings is not yet determined, our ongoing efforts signal an optimistic future for these distinguished residences. Hopefully, a new and enduring chapter will be added to the storied legacy of the Dall-Mays houses.
I am an 18-year-old preservationist living in Portland, Oregon. This project looks incredibly promising... provided you can get the right architects with the right knowledge. I've seen "historic" renovations go horribly wrong when the wrong professionals are engaged. I will be following this project anxiously, and I hope that in some way I can contribute. Good luck!
Great video!
These two homes look like the ones from the "Shameless" tv series.
In the Vieux Carre of the French Quarter, they allowed the demo of all except the important front facade. The rest was rebuilt. ...much more cost effective.
Good luck!
