This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.
Thank you for showing all of the headaches of the job too. Often we start on something and when it doesn’t go like the video we get frustrated. You kept going with great results!
I had hope it would be encouraging to see the mistakes as well. Lol
I am so glad you stayed away from paint on top. very good choice on stain colour. Well done
Robin, Robin, Robin ,Your table is absolutely gorgeous, just beautiful .You always cease to amaze me. All your hard work was so worth it . Robin I love, love, love the color. God bless
It should read,m “you NEVER cease to amaze me”......but I knew what you’d meant....it just made me laugh in a good way!
I'm hoping to recycle a little dining table. Thanks for the tips. Your table looks amazing
Wow, beautiful turn out!
Beautiful and well worth the effort
I got a new phone & I couldn't find you.... So happy now, there you are!!
I have a table just like this and am looking to make over mine too!!
Wow! Beautiful Robin! It looks brand new! What a lot of work!
Thank you, It was alot of work but totally worth it now that it is thankfully done.
That is my table! Haha. I love the make-over! So helpful as I am planning to update mine as well. Thanks for sharing
It is gorgeous! I love the dark stain with the white base. So pretty.
WOW.......your HARD work paid off BIG TIME!!!! What a master piece, Robin!!!! It looks fantastic!!!! So happy your Hobby gave you the green light!!!!! :)
Oh me too, he is very impressed. Lol
Robin Johnson I'm sure he was impressed long before now😊
Love the contrast between top and bottom. Breaks up white as well
It turned out really well
It is very beautiful. I like the dark top and white bottom. I would not have had the patience to do that stripping and sanding but well worth it. Fabulous job as usual.
Wish I had just a third of your patience! The table looks great.
Believe me my patience was wearing thin, but it was worth it.
Seriously sharing the problems you ran into helped SO much more than a perfectly edited* video. I’m redoing my wood dining table and chairs and I learned I want to use a chemical stripper as it will be easier to remove the old varnish.. I don’t want to have to manually “strip” it off afterwards
Good job Robin..very meticulous work. I never would have thought that a white base would work with a dark oak finish. Nice
Wow! It looks amazing. Beautiful.
Wow..what a change...all your hard work paid off...don't sweat the small stuff its beautiful
Thanks for sharing now that I know how much refinishing will take I think I'm just going to paint mine lol 🙃. Nice job :)
It turned out awesome! We are thinking about doing this and you’ve given us a lot of ideas! Thank you!!
Thank you for all your help! I got a nice drop leaf shaker table at a garage sale and went with minwax dark walnut will white chalk paint for the legs and base now it looks amazing!
Beautiful!!! Looks So much better. Great job
Looks great
Your hard work paid off. It’s lovely 😊
I hope your hubby appreciates all you do to make a beautiful home.
Wow!!! Beautiful!!
Did you sand the legs and the frame of table too?
Thank you for taking us through your process of refinishing your dining table. I appreciated your sharing the different stages and missteps along the way, so we could learn with you! The table looks great...and you've inspired me to get started refinishing my dining room table!
Very good video. I've been nervous about tackling my own dining table but this has inspired me.
Great music choice for this video. This video was very calming and enjoyable to watch.
My daughter and I are in the first stages of sanding same table. Thanks for the tip about the Lacquer, you have safed us from doing the same..The table turned out beautiful.
Do I need to sand and strip the lacquer from the whole table if I do a similar job with just painting the base white? It looked like you just painted over the lacquer on the base so is it only important for the top?
I love the richness of the red oak! Turned out fabulous!
Omg it's beautifu!!! Big difference!!
Robin I love it. You worked so hard. I have a drop leaf old table to DIY, but I am going to chalk paint it . Have a great week.
That will look so pretty when your finished. Good luck
Just a tip, stripping gel works better when applied in thick coats, and won't need to sit as long as if you used a thin coat. It would save you a lot of time!
Thanks for the tip, I did figure that out towards the end, hehe
It also works better if you cover the citristrip with plastic wrap to keep it wet.
Ahhh the 90s oak table looks fabulous now!! 👍💕😍 Thanks for sharing!! I love that citrastrip gel!! It's the best.
It sure is, it has changed my life. Lol
@@RobinJohnsonDecor it was pretty satisfying watching you scrape away the laquer! DIY ASMR! 🤣😂
Very beautiful!!!👏👏👏
A beautiful piece. Well done Robin.
Thank you for sharing. Going to tackle my table now!
Awesome job. I might copy this look for my farmhouse table. My table is already that dark and I could just redo the legs, bench and chairs. 👍🏾
Wow, the table looks really good!
Good job Robin! You had your challenges, but you won! 👏👏👏
Love how it turned out! 😍 Even the darker than you wanted top! I just helped my daughter do this to her (was ours when we had the kids at home, but we gave it to her family of 6 🙂). All the same issues you had! Huge, heavy rectangle, trestle base, no leaves. Such a beast of a table and a job! All done in the dining room; a messy week. It did finally turn out nice! It has the same stained top, but she went with a medium grey color for the base and 6 ladder back chairs. They have twisted paper seats. A more industrial looking farmhouse style. Pretty, but I prefer the classic, crisp white. 😉 Beautiful results❣️Tfs
A labor of love . Really lovely and a job well done!
wonderful job, really, but here's what was lacking in your video. I plan I doing that same style paint job on a farm table my son is giving me. that's why I chose your video to watch first. But you skipped over the parts I was most wanting to see how to deal with. The top was done as I expected it to be, but the more difficult part I wanted to know how to deal with wasn't addressed. How did you scrape the lacquer off of the edge of the table that was not flat?? Obviously you couldn't use your flat paint scraper. I still gave a thumbs up, as I was very impressed with your easy to follow video AND the beautiful results! thank you so much for sharing!
debby williams yes, I noticed that also.
I have he exact same table. I redid mine last year. I took it all apart, took it outside and using the same sander as you and the stripper went to town. Well it was really hard work. But I was determined to get it done. You see I have four kids who grew up around that beautiful Canadian red oak table. I didn’t want to remove the marks that where embedded in it from my kids doing school projects, homework, crafts and many many family meals at our wonderful kitchen table. We’ve had this table for 23 years. I stained it in Java , it took 3 coats and then 3 coats of polyurethane. I did the whole table this way, it came out beautiful, even my husband loved it (he too didn’t want me to touch the light oak table). You did a great job. It turned out gorgeous. Now my kids are fighting over the table who will inherit it.
Good evening Ma'am, oh how I THANK YOU for the sharing of this video❤❤❤❤❤❤ I'm differently going to try this with my 70-80's wood table lol God bless you have a WONDERFUL week 😊✌
I have a very similar table. I'm going to do the same thing to it. Thanks for this makeover. Now I know what to expect and the hurdles I will encounter. I love the result Robin. It looks wonderful.
Painting the whole thing would have been easier but in the long run I think this will weather better. Good luck on your table makeover
Beautiful 👍🏽
It looks amazing! You worked so hard - but it was worth it - It's a beautiful table and no longer looks 'dated'.
I think your so right, thank you.
I would have loved to have that table in it's natural wood!! 😍😍
Great job. It’s totally beautiful
It turned out so great I can't wait to see how you do your different displays on your new table
I just refinished my dining table and it looked great! I did the stripping first, covered the top with a plastic wrap to avoid drying and wait for an hour or two then start the process of stripping then do the sanding. I used the minwax wood conditioner to avoid wood stain blotches, minwax polyshades oil-based plus the paste wax and really did the job. It looked like you did a lot of work and applied the citistrip gel very thin. The stripping gel dries easily. Lots of work prepping and time consuming you put into a project for sure but the outcome is priceless! 😍
Did you record the process?
That looked like a lot of work but boy does that table look great!!! Thanks for sharing 😊
I love it, it's beautiful. You certainly have patience. Great job.
Trund out so beautiful.
Very nice, a lot of work, but worth the look! Good Job👍👏🏾
That is a beautiful transformation! A labor of love. It looks sooo good.

Beautiful table! Thanks for sharing the steps!
One at home...Love it!
I can't believe you sanded inside...what a mess. It's a beautiful table now!
I was thinking this same thing! LOL
It looks beautiful Robin and boy was that lacquer stubborn! Well worth it though!! Thank you for sharing 💕
Stunning! And kudos to you for the perseverance, you ain't no quitter!
I love it! I have a table that was very 90’s dark cherry and although I paid a lot of $ for it and it seated everyone, but I grew to hate it. Here is my makeover and I just LOVE my table too!
Looks great. I have 1 similar but only 1 pedestal leg. Bought it used and top needs refinished but I wanted the chairs more than the table. I collect vintage tablecloths ..so I have pretty covers for top. Take care.
Love what you did to your table. You have such unique decor ideas and I really like what you do. I must tell you that I love your channel as well. I dream of a house like yours. Thanks so much for sharing.
What a beautiful job on your table. Sometimes it seems like when you start a project it takes so long, but look at the results. 👍😊💕Just beautiful!!!
I hear you, and this was one such project. So glad it's done and looking good
WOW, your hard work paid off and it looks Great
It looks fantastic! You have the patience of a saint!
Beautiful!
You did a beautiful job !!!!! 👍👍🌸
You have just inspired me to get on with a table I’ve been putting off! 🥴 You’ve done a beautiful job, Robin! Well worth all your hard work! Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕
Did you sand the base before applying the paint?
I love your table ...well worth the time and effort. ..I'm just about to do mine ....wish me luck x
You did an outstanding job Robin, it’s absolutely GORGEOUS!!!🥰
when I used that stripper I only let it sit 30 min it came off very easily, the piece had 5 layers of paint and I had to reapply it 2 times but I believe you didn't put a thick enough coat of stripper and waited too long to scrape it off. turned out beautiful.
Paint is so much more easier to strip than when you strip something that is stained and lacquered or sealed
I agree, I just used citristrip to strip my factory stained and sealed kitchen table... it took two rounds of stripping to remove all of the dark stain color but it was nothing like what this poor lady went through, I scraped mine off while it was very wet as the instructions stated in the bottle... you’re supposed to reapply if it starts to dry at all... she definitely did it the very, very hard way.
Yeah, I don't know why she let the stripper dry. Might as well just sand. Plus, when she went back she should have coated the whole thing just to be sure. A lot of projects could use 2 coatings of stripper to get all of it.
It helps when you read the directions. Was painful to watch.
Your table is so pretty...I bought one similar at salvation army and I got four chairs for 50 bucks for the set...I love thrifting as well...I was just looking at your table runner video...I'm going to attempt it...keep up the good work..
Great job! It’s beautiful
Beautiful!!!
I've been wanting to redo my dining room table for a long time. With your video I think I'm going to give it a try 😁 wish me luck!!
You can do it!
Beautiful
Love it, I do have a few questions. 1. how did you scrape the side of the table? (the part that is still the table top but curved) 2. How did the dear husband like the results?
Our new home has so much wood, brown and cream that I'm wanting to paint the bottom of our table a Marine Blue (blues are my accent color, with little pops of pink) and have the table top it's natural as it's a cheery wood. (I think, we'll see once I strip the piece)
OMG, I Love It!!! It looks awesome and it go so great with everything now! I especially love the stain you used for the top, I think it is perfect! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
What a wonderful transformation. Great job!
Oh my goodness Robin,it's just beautiful..
Absolutely gorgeous Robin!!!! I love the dark stain on the bottom. I think it turned out perfectly! 💖💕🌸💕💖
Thanks so much Suzanne. I am completely in love with it.
