My Grandma was admitted to the hospital today in Michigan and is having an attack of severe weakness. This has never happened as it has always only affected her vision. (Diagnosed with Optic Neuritis etc. and NMO about 15 years ago.)
This time, it has caused wekness in her extremities (bilateral), so they're:
    1. Performing an MRI of the spine tonight.
    2. Her MRI w/ w/out contrast showed:
    - elevated T2 signal in the periventricular white matter of the cerebral hemispheres
    - CPK is elevated at 568
    - Mild chronic small vessel ischemic change.
However, she also is currently in chronic kidney failure as well.
According to your lecture, you state that so far, you do not know of any cases involving kidney failure, but do you believe it is still a possibility? Should we look at a potentially different diagnosis?
