I have to say, for the past week your videos are in loop at the studio. I decided to move from premier to davinci as a content creator and I just wanted to say thanks. Amazing video and magiczoom v2 is awesome
For anyone who accidentally edited the video on a 1920 x 1080 timeline, just select all clips, create a compound clip and drag to a new vertical timeline, but you might have to scale the video up to fit.
Hey man I need little help I got everything ok but the vertical footage is sideways and I have to keep taking it on the timeline rotate it and scale it, is there a quick fix for that!!?
If we already started editing, could we also right click on the existing timeline and modify the timeline settings from there instead of starting over?
You can also go into the project settings in file drop down tab, if you didn't do this step! that's what I was trying to figure out but this video made me remember the possibility, Thanks!
I followed the steps, but "Use vertical resolution" option isn't there for me. I can switch the numbers around so not too big of a deal, just annoying the quicker way isn't appearing for me lol. Amazing video, btw!
Been looking for this for a looong time and before I had to stretch and fill after manually setting everything to 1080x1920(Timeline and rendering res) thanks Mate!!!
convert it while setting up render options in media encoder. Post should be 1080x1920 anyway, but between hd and 4k footage better option is 4k which will transform to 1080x1920 with right settings. It is gonna look a bit better at least
Alex, quite new to filming and editing... All my videos that I took vertically are not taking up the whole screen. Two black columns on each side. When I try to flip the video(90°) and scale it to crop. It still doesn't work. Clearly you made this vertical video work for your RUclips channel. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you
Hi. Im new at editing and love watching your videos. I wana know that if i need a horizontal aspect ratio that covers the entire cell phone area without any black bars (i guess thats 2.39:1) then will using cinemascope option in aspect ratio do the job?
I want to change the frame of the crop, I want the 16:9 ratio turn to 9:16ratio but instead of the centre of the clip I want the right most edge. Is it possible to do that?
how do you do it on a timeline that you already edited and just want it to be vertical now? In Sony Vegas you just press preferences and change the resolution...
but how does it work with 4k resolution? i wanna render it in HD at the end for insta or tiktok. but i don't wanna damage my quality of my videos... when i select 4k in vertical mode, my videos doesn't fill the full frame of it (via zoom). it is cropping on all sites with black bars..
Why is the delivery settings in davinci so limited? I want to export (audio focussed) videos and the highest I can go is 192kbps Aac. I've never had any problems with premiere pro.
Brilliant BUT you have to either "zoom in" to about 1.850x1.850 OR you have to stretch the screen in the cell phone, while watching the video in the vertical format. Right?
There are the scaling options, but unfortunately they were not mentioned in this video. And I've had problems with this, when having a real project, not just one video clip, but images, texts etc. Maybe I used wrong scaling setting but some of the objects went super small and some big. For a ready project it may be best to export and then import to vertical timeline, that keeps everything as they should be.
Hey man, I have a problem. How can you grade a split video. Like when you split the video in two half but want the grade only to affect one of the two parts. I did this with windows marks in the past but now it isn't working in my node grade or maybe I am doing something wrong. 🤔
Is there a way, I can edit my whole video in horizontal and only in the end turn that into vertical? So that the viewer has to turn their phone. If you know what I mean
Somebody knows if it's is possible to customize the davinci layout in something like the vertical layout on premiere pro? (With the source/view monitor on the right and the timeline and other stuff on the left) It's hard to see things in a vertical video if you couldn't increase the size of the video to the full hight length 😅😅
But then when you create proxy video (which is necessary in this slow app) they are resized to half size and have black bars around them. This just isn't a good editor.
Perfect timing, man - releasing my first Short here tomorrow!
hope you succeed
YOU are amazing. Literally straight to the point, no rabbit holes.

@@_earthtojen That's what we want to know! Edit: Just go to "File / Project Settings" there you can change it
Finally a video that shows what I'm looking for. Every other video shows how to change a horizontal video to vertical 🤦
Thank you for this! To the point! Helped me immensely, I used this right now and created my own short instead of using the app. Happy lady here.
This is great. Now I can take videos I've shot for my channel, and quickly make a Short. Kudos to you, sir.
Yep, i have been using it since it came out!!
You can also go into the project settings in file drop down tab, if you didn't do this step! that's what I was trying to figure out but this video made me remember the possibility, Thanks!
Good quick tip. Definitely a popular searched question I feel 😅👌👌.
Great video! Concise and helpful. Thanks!
Perfect timing and best i've seen
You could do that always just by going to project settings and changing the current resolution to vertical
Great video! Quick, to the point, and easy to understand
Thank you very much I used to do it manually.
Great short, very useful, thanks
Perfect timing! I opened DR, then google to search for it while watching some random shorts in my mobile… Wolaa… next shorts is this…. 😂😂
Subscribed. Excellent and to the point.
I followed the steps, but "Use vertical resolution" option isn't there for me. I can switch the numbers around so not too big of a deal, just annoying the quicker way isn't appearing for me lol. Amazing video, btw!

You are the best, thanks so much for such a small thing that is HUGE!
Is it the same to zoom in on inspector or choose crop entire image to fit on timeline setting?
Same question
Thanks I was looking for a RUclips short vid by you!
the answer I needed in under a minute, thank you
Super helpful and to the point, thanks!
Thank you! exactly what I was loooking for.
Been using this to rip VV for Insta for the marching band. Nice - thank you!
I just love your content man
thanks alex, you always help me out man!
Is there a way to avoid reels and shorts to compress your 4k vid?
convert it while setting up render options in media encoder. Post should be 1080x1920 anyway, but between hd and 4k footage better option is 4k which will transform to 1080x1920 with right settings. It is gonna look a bit better at least
Omg thanks! You’re a lifesaver!
Nice! but how can I change the timeline ORIENTATION like image orientation in the clip attributes?
yay!! also new timeline is command N on mac so i was bit confused

Thank you - another very useful tip!!
Brilliant... easy info to follow. Thanks.
FANTASTIC. THANK YOU
Awesome advice as always!!!
Perfect,
Thanks for sharing.
What am I missing? I did what you shared in the video, but the black margins came out on the top and bottom.
helped me yet again !
Thanks!
Awesome, Alex 🤘💚🙏
Really helpful. Thanks.
Love this video
Thank you!
You saved me! Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you
I have seen a bunch of tutorials but I do not have the use vertical resolution option
Hi. Im new at editing and love watching your videos. I wana know that if i need a horizontal aspect ratio that covers the entire cell phone area without any black bars (i guess thats 2.39:1) then will using cinemascope option in aspect ratio do the job?
I just converted a video (with resizing content) in under 10 minutes :) Thanks!
wow thank you!!
😇 Great info, Alex!
I dont have this option man and i have the latest version.. what should i do ?
Same here - Maybe its an option for the paid version?
I want to change the frame of the crop, I want the 16:9 ratio turn to 9:16ratio but instead of the centre of the clip I want the right most edge. Is it possible to do that?
thanks this helps me alot
LOVE YOU !!
I’m on DaVinci 18, but I don’t have the option to untick the project setting and I don’t have the Vertical option? Why would that be?
Thanks dude!
ty bro
Awesome! It helped!

How about reels on facebook is it the same setting you would recommend?
Why is the delivery settings in davinci so limited?
I want to export (audio focussed) videos and the highest I can go is 192kbps Aac.
I've never had any problems with premiere pro.
If I upload directly to RUclips form Davinci doing this, will it go to YT Shorts?
Mine doesn't have it.
thank you you are life saver
Yeah, but on delivery page it changes proportions, so the video is super thin
Omg, finally!!!!!!!
Brilliant BUT you have to either "zoom in" to about 1.850x1.850 OR you have to stretch the screen in the cell phone, while watching the video in the vertical format. Right?

Is it for studio versio only?
no regular one too
How can i re center my subject in frame
U saved my day bro
Thanks❤️
tnx!
But neet to eport horizontal cinematic view....but when i do roate it in -90 degree...some part of video is cropping
How to over come this?🙄
Here’s the problem … how can you upload large (10min and up) form content without having insanely large files ?
Is there a way, I can edit my whole video in horizontal and only in the end turn that into vertical?
So that the viewer has to turn their phone. If you know what I mean
thanks mate
Ty bruh. Cannot use vertical video in horizontal timeline sadly
THANKS BUDDY
No problem
Export settings?
thanks ❤

It's hard to see things in a vertical video if you couldn't increase the size of the video to the full hight length 😅😅
There is no "use vertical resolution" to tick in my Da Vinci resolve 18 - I have no idea why :(
just found out I can do it manually xD
But then when you create proxy video (which is necessary in this slow app) they are resized to half size and have black bars around them. This just isn't a good editor.
If I try to do 2160x3840 it always switches to 2160x2160 :/
At least 1080x1920 works fine
Free version can't do 3840 vertically, it's limit is 2160. But nowhere displays 4k vertical generally (not yet anyway!)
I have been making videos for a month or so with DaVinci Resolve 18……and didn’t notice that “tic” box…😂😂😂😂😂
On laptop in vertical view is so restricted, shame there is no possibilities in DR to drag and rearrange windows
Command N, no?
Thank you but its faster in the cut page.
nice!
Brohhh im finding for 1 jour 😭😭😭 tankkkks ❤
Not working with 4K
How to create vertical thumbnails 🤔
thanks :)
I did not know…I’m still on 16…nice!
I use SHIFT+9
