Fantastic video on the importance of healthy soil to reduce the reliance (and cost) of damaging chemicals. I spotted this as part of the Kiss the Ground Soil Advocate course. Great video, thanks.

It is our duty to restore the soil organism to ensure healthy soil. Healthy soil will take care of the Plants, People and Planet. Keep in touch... as we keep creating awareness until many start taking action by creating organic climate gardens

So I planted some gardenias in some clay soil and for 3 seasons they didnt grow and half the leaves were yellow and spotty. This year I top dressed with mushroom compost and beneficial bacteria and fungi and I'll be dammed if the little boogers started growing and they're all green now. It's not fairy tale, soil microbiology is a winner.

This is great! One question, though - the claim that weeds thrive in imbalanced soil, and are suppressed when balance is restored, sounds a bit odd to me. How does nature know what's a "weed"? Is there a particular balance that favours plants that we can eat / sell? I'm sure there's a good explanation to it that goes beyond the sound-byte (and I'd love to know about it! is there a video here specifically on this?), but this wording made me question the story a bit.

Dr. Elaine is referring to plant succession. If you google "plant succession chart" you will find some good information. We also each this in the Soil Food Web Foundation Courses. This animation helps describe weed suppression with the soil food web: ruclips.net/video/pRIXUdhGptU/видео.html

@@soilfoodwebschool thank you, this makes everything clearer! I do wonder if fast-growing varieties such as peas will also be affected. I'll have to experiment and see.

Hello, Mr. Al-Fadl, I am from Algeria. I would like to ask you. I made compost from cow and sheep animal dung, sawdust, vegetables, and fruits. I was stirring it, and after 3 months it became ripe and its color became deep brown. Its smell is like dirt mixed with rain. When I planted coriander seeds, I tried it, nothing grew, so I mixed it with dirt, but I found an hour and nothing appeared. I am very confused as to what it isIn your opinion, sir, you are very knowledgeable. Please advise me

The feeling I get from watching this is that this is an ad. There's not any information on what I can do on my own without the help of Dr. Elaine's Soil Food Web School. I just got done watching a 1 hr 30 min interview/presentation on vimeo about how the answer is "Biology", so I'm just salty about my time being wasted again.
Here's the summary of this video. The food chain is more nuanced than a chain, it is a web. It applies to soil. Things have to be in balance. Compacting soil is bad. Lack of balance is bad.
Edit: They are selling things, okay.
