  • I've mentioned it in videos before, but here's the story of how I blew the motor on my 2014 Yamaha R1. Im not placing the blame on anyone as we do not 100% know what for sure happened.

    This is exactly why I got my CCT replaced with an automatic one instead of the manual one.

      stock ones are automatic they release with oil pressure,my stock automatic one just went at 16k on my 08,my mechanic is a silver certified yamaha mechanic i asked him about using a graves manual one and he said to go with the automatic i was scared cuz they are known to go bad at any moment, but u have to adjust them every once in a while with the manual,fast lane wouldnt have had a problem if he used loctite

    And never buy Chinese parts off eBay. Found that out the hard way when I replaced my stator and it lasted literally one mile before it burned itself up.
    Went back to factory parts and it’s run like a champ ever since...

    I've been screaming about R1's being a self destruct motorcycle since 07 when mine blew up at 5k mi, 11k mi, and 16k mi. Yes I got it repaired under warranty all 3 times but it's basically a race bike, meaning it's only required to get through a race, and not much else. Which it does as superbly as a top fuel drag bike completes 1/4 mi. run, while it destroys itself in the process. How Yamaha makes a dime on R1's and R6's is beyond me.

      What the hell are you doing to it to blow it up 3 times in 16k miles? My 08 has 170,000 kilometers on it with only one problem (and it wasn't really the motor) - the 3 springs for the slipper clutch broke at 50,000 k's. It is still going strong.

      @@r1learner178 I will say this though, try not to ride it at 150mph for extended periods of time, I think its meant to be shifted through the gears with the rev range fluctuating. You can believe me or not, it matters not since I'm just some faceless comment on youtube. But you have been warned. Valve guides are stainless steel pressed into the head, that guide the titanium valves. It is what it is, they broke loose according to the dealership mechanic, all i heard was a very loud and distinct rattle and severe sputtering, which surprised the hell out of me too at the time....EACH AND EVERY TIME IT HAPPENED, no troll. If it happed once I would'nt even bother mentioning it.

    • @Ed-ty1kr
      @Ed-ty1kr Месяц назад

      @@r1learner178 And no I never revved it cold or without a load on the engine meaning not in gear and moving. Take my experience for what its worth. I didnt even put aftermarket pipes on it and kept the stock titanium cans fearing and knowing I'd probably need warranty work again, after the first time. But I will admit I stopped babying it after the first time, and just racked up the milage without worry knowing it would'nt last either way.

    Bro I had to pay 4K to rebuild my engine on my 2012 R1 not even a month ago!! My bike went into the shop in July and I just got it back not even three full weeks ago 🤦‍♂️ Second Riding season in a row I missed behind these shops taking their time to fix my bikes!! Was told it was carbon Built up under my Pistons!! I don’t know how the heck that happened, when I just bought the bike in May!! The mechanic told me it was probably from the person before me Putting Racing Or very powerful Fluids in the bike...😳😒 I still don’t know how it happened, so I can avoid it happening to me again in the near future...But, I got a brand new motor now and I’m good to go...was told to change my oil AFTER the first 600 miles I put on her...I need a DIY video on how to change the oil BrO!! 🤦‍♂️ I swear I don’t have no more money to give to these Bike shops...Great informative Vlog BrO, as Usual!! 🔥💯

      There's a couple of oil change vids already on youtube. Make sure you replace the filter with the filter that has a bolt head on the housing, and get a crush washer for you oil drain. Use aluminum foil to channel the oil from the filter through your header/exhaust manifold. You're gonna need a rear stand or someone to hold the bike upright at a minimum.

      @@allgasnobrakes919 np bro! You may need a filter wrench if there is no bolt head on the end of the current filter on the bike. I'd be more cautious on your oil selection than actually changing the oil.

    Question I just had service done a couple weeks prior I had my chain replaced road it a few times over a couple weeks with no issue then I took bike back to get a major tune up to adjust valves and check over everything and they put a ape cam tensioner on my bike now it wasn’t loose or anything and I was riding and next thing you know bike started shuddering and turned off oil was all on my shifter shift and when I looked I had 2 holes in what looked like my block right under the head and metal pieces everywhere. I’m just trying to figure out what I’m the hell happened that they do a valve job and starter replacement and now engine is blown at 19k miles that oil changes were kept up on

    Bro I appreciate your video a lot. I've got the same issue, noisy rattle on the CCT on cold start up. Yamaha Head Office say its not an issue, but the R1 forum users are freaked out by the cold start up noise. Depending on what dealer I speak to, will tell me its not an issue, others will try and rip me off. My friend has a general motorcycle servicing shop and he said he's never ever heard of a failed motor due to the CCT.
    Ironically, you changed the CCT for a manual one to prevent damage and unfortunately this caused the damage you had hoped to avoid due to the but loosening. What a situation! I really feel for you bro.
    Onwards and upwards, really dig your channel.
    What was the part? Was it a Graves
    CCT?

    How do you like those side mirrors I’m glad you got your bike up and running

    • @FastLaneD
      @FastLaneD  3 года назад +3

      I prefer them over the stock mirrors! I have pretty broad shoulders so I cant see anything with the stock mirrors! The bar end mirrors give me much better visibility and they're slightly concave so I can see directly behind me. The only downside is that you have to take your eyes completely off of the road in order to see behind ya! Good question! Thanks for watching Ben! 🤘🏾 #FastLaneGang 🏁
