Pretty sure Bode took Dagan's saber after the final fight with Dagan. You can even go back to the little fight arena and there is a force echo of Bode mentioning he is going to take the lightsaber for himself
@Star Wars Explained Actually you're also right that he bled his crystal because in the first fight he has Dagan's saber but the blade is orange. Then in the second fight the blade is red.
I think Dagan bled his crystal so easily because it was his own that he connected to and that called out to him. “Oh we’re turning to the darkside? Ok bet *turns red without hesitation* Vader struggled since it wasn’t his, the crystal resisted and finally broke and turned red.
No, it’s a negative and painful experience for a kyber crystal to turn red. It is never a good thing for it. It can even get cracked or break in the process.
Honestly it makes sense for a sith to differentiate themselves from dark Jedi and therefore being more powerful, corrupting and making a kyber crystal of someone else would mean your practically taking the power once held by the former user and making it your own whereas dark Jedi are just corrupting the power from their own kyber crystal

And looking back at that scene, it fits perfectly with the scene of Vader bleeding that crystal on Mustafar, Dagan recalls the anger and rage he felt at the Jedi for abandoning Tanalorr and the wound it caused to his pride at locating the planet and he poured all that into his yellow kyber crystal turning it red. A great moment and one that blew me away (not unlike it did Cal haha) Mentioning the difference between Sith bleeding the crystals of Jedi they've killed versus fallen Jedi bleeding their own reminds me of Count Dooku and the question of whose crystal he bled when he became a Sith. Dagan's crystal turns Orange before it is fully corrupted and turned Red with his hatred. Orange seems like the last stage of darkness before the crystal bleeds and "pops" with a dark surge.

It didn't feel like that to me. The way he bled the Crystal as he remembered all the things that made him fall to the dark side, made the execution pretty natural imo. Bode used Dagan's lightsaber. It would make sense he didn't have one while working with the ISB because 1: he doesn't need it. 2: it could attract unwanted attention with him being confused with an Inquisitor. And 3: I wouldn't be surprised if he ditched his lightsaber when he first went into hiding, like other survivors did.

A lightsaber is an extension of its wielder. Your hate, pain, and anger flows into its crystal. The dark side’s goal is to corrupt everything including nature itself.
This would also explain Inquisitor lightsabers as well. Each member bled their own crystal as a show of loyalty and (to them) dedication to becoming Sith, all while Palpatine laughs at them for not knowing the truth. Also, I'd like if the orange-red sabers are given an explanation beyond "they're just that color", that it be some sort of synthetic kyber similar to the explanation behind Sith lightsabers in legends.
I always felt the bleeding of a crystal made sense, especially from a Inquisitor’s perspective. They basically want to make every Jedi survivor feel the same pain and suffering they were forced to endure, why not do the same to their own crystal? If they are miserable, why not make their crystal feel that to?
The orange lightsabers used in the Ashoka trailer remind me of lightsabers made from Kholen Crystals from the book master and apprentice. I’d be surprised if they were but that’s the only place orange lightsabers have appeared in current cannon
I think it's actually really cool to see a Lightsaber crystal bleeding in action. I wasn't expecting that to happen. Jedi Survivor is a game of many firsts.
Just by the way for anyone whos a bit confused, bode did not bleed his own crystal he just stole one of dagans lightsabers after you defeat him. Bode must've discarded his saber after he left his life as a jedi before the purge since it seems he didn't want anything to do with them and having his own lightsaber around would have probably brought back negative emotions he more than likely wanted to suppress.
Filoni said that the orange-red sabers were to differentiate them from Sith characters and even Dagan's looks a little orange (maybe the colour in this scene just isn't flushed out enough). I'd have to compare it to other red ones in the game like the Ninth Sister's, Vader's and Cal's NG+ one. Perhaps orange is going to be another villain colour for those who aren't as committed to the dark side. Probably a stretch though.
maybe it was because Dagan; though upset and obsessed with Tanalore, truly believed that he was wronged and the Jedi were wrong to abandon Tanalore... had the Order defended Tanalore, come Order 66; the Jedi Order would have an entire planet that is completely hidden from all Starmaps, completely chuck full of Jedi!
I love how recent video games have tended to pull quite a bit from books and comics. Always feel nice to see a more mainstream part of the franchise acknowledging the more niche aspects
While I’m not completely against the concept of bleeding a Kyber crystal to make it read, I much prefer the method of craft synthetic crystals back in Legends
I really prefer the bled Crystals more... sure a red crystal literally made from ones anger and hatred is pretty metal! But taking a living Kyber Crystal and essentially torturing it with the Dark Side until it bleeds red sounds way more Sith-like to me!
yeah that would be nice Homage but I prefer Bleeding/Purfying also its make the Empire mine them for the Deathstar super lasers in there calling cards treating it as a resource like most things a peversion of what was once good.
I really hope they explain those orange lightsabers too us too. That color is currently my favorite soon to be canon color and I’m reeeeaaaally hoping its not super associated with evil or if it is , it can be separated from it some how 😅 I just really want that color and a minty green for my own sabers one day, and I don’t wanna have to headcanon it too hard lmao
While it's likely not Fool's Kyber, as seen in the novel "Master and Apprentice", due to the apparent duel between that orange-red lightsaber guy and Ahsoka , it could be. The way I remember the novel describing Obi-Wan's blade with such a crystal, it should look pretty similar.
I personally think orange-red sabers are fallen jedi's saber that have bled their saber but it was like Degan it was on "mutual "terms unlike Kylo who forced his saber into being bled.
Lightsaber bleeding (and subsequently purification) is one of my favourite aspects of the new canon material. With the new onset of Breaking Bad memes seeing a rapid resurgence these days, I don’t think the old lore of cooking crystals would fly today without being memed to oblivion. Plus it just looks WAYYYYY cooler to see it being portrayed, especially with Ben and Anakin’s path into the dark side.
... bleeding is already meme'd tho. They have been jokingly referred to as mood rings in alot of circles. Stuff like Vader's scene from the comics proved that perception wrong with showing how long and painstaking the process is... only for Kylo and Dagan to resurrect the meme by them taking a grand total of 5 seconds to bleed theirs.
I always felt like the whole “it has to be a Jedi’s lights saber that you killed” was something Palpatine made up for Vader. Surely Maul didn’t do that. And maybe Dooku bleed Yadle’s but hard to say.
The difference between a sith bleeding a crystal and a fallen Jedi bleeding a crystal is that when a sith bleeds his crystal he is trying to fully succumb to the dark side and wants to hate just for power (Sometimes) but a fallen Jedi bleeding their crystal is out of pain and past mistakes or a peroson or friend that has died they do this because they want to use the dark side for a goal and not fully succumb to the dark side I hope you enjoyed
I wouldn't say there's a difference at all. The Sith just have a tradition of wanting the crystal to be from an enemy, but it would've been the same thing if Vader was allowed to bleed his own crystal.
It really has to do with the relationship of Kyber Crystals Kyber Crystals choose a Wielder and chooses a blade color that highlights the inner trait and affinity of the Wielder For Jedi they respect their Crystals and forge a bond with them Sith usually steal the crystal of the first Jedi they slain and bleed it They force a bond with a Crystal, breaking it to their will like a beast of burden They have no previous relationship with the crystal, and the red color is result of the abuse Jedi respect Kyber Crystals as a living thing and wouldn’t usually bleed it, as doing so would cause it to be in a constant state of suffering. A fallen Jedi would partially bleed the crystal, to bleed it enough to change the color, to reflect their bond and dedication to the Dark Side, although some Dark Jedi may choose to fully bleed the crystal red themselves But those that partially bleed the crystal, would respect their crystal enough to not make it fully suffer, but bleed it enough to share their own pain and reflect their original bond in the Dark Side, creating the color reflecting it, which seems to be orange at least in the case of former Jedi Sentinels
"But those that partially bleed the crystal, would respect their crystal enough to not make it fully suffer" A better description is that Dagan's Crystal is experiencing the pain Dagan is feeling and unlike with Vader; it isn't resisting the bleeding process, because of the bond that Dagan made with it upon finding the Crystal
I know it doesn't have much to do with the rest of this video, but is there a chance, Dagan could be a Kage. His skin is also this pale-grey tone and he has white-grayish hair in a style, that looks heavily like the Kage. Am I the only one with that assumption.
Honestly wouldve prefered dagans lightsaber stay yellow, it was cool to see him bleed it but i didnt think it made much sense, you can still be the bad guy without it having to be red, just seemed too tropey and gimmicky to me, but not that big a deal love the game so far, stuck on the big cere fight on grand master rn
So... Procedurally, there is no difference in how the crystal itself is bled; only that dark Jedi bleed their own whereas sith bleed the crystals of those they've killed? Another commenter asked about Dooku. I would also like to know whose crystal he bled (his own or Yaddles) since he kept his original hilt
Anyone can bleed any crystal using the dark side. The Sith just have a sort of religious dogma that makes them get the crystal from someone else. They could just use their own, though.
is it just me or are Bode and Dagan's sabers kind of a similar Orange-red as the ones in the Ahsoka trailer? my assumption was that it's the new canon indication of a fallen Jedi and the Sith are the super vibrant red we're used to
First of all Bode didn’t bleed any crystal he took Dagan’s lightsaber after Cal left the room Second it looks orange red because that’s how the red lightsaber looks at this game you can even see that the red color in NG+ also looks orange red While it’s weird I honestly like how it looks better
Bode stole dagan gera lightsaber after cal defeated dagan if you go back to the place where you defeated him a force echo of Bode taking the lightsaber will be there
The red sabers in survivor kind of look orangish. Felt like the color wasn't red enough. Even Vader's looks orange. The green one's feel too yellow as well. Minor gripes.

Absolutely my fault for continuing to watch, but maybe add a disclaimer for what chapters of the game might be spoiled by the video to save others from spoilers. Thanks for always putting out interesting content!
Honestly it bums me out that dark side users have to have red lightsabers. Like in universe logically if you're a force user and you see that your saber is red now, you know you're the bad guy here, it's very binary. Are there examples of fallen jedi out there who don't have red lightsabers? How long until Dooku's saber was red after he left the order to go be the Count of Serenno?
They don't see themselves as the bad guy. In reality, anger isn't an inherently bad emotion. It's about what you do with the anger. The only people conditioned to think red is evil are fans, but Dooku had well intentioned negative emotions, just with some evil methods.

Bode doesn't have his own lightsaber he took dagans
Bode did not bleed his lightsaber. It's Dagan's lightsaber.
Dont think we ever see Bode's lightaber. The one he uses in the game is Dagan's.
I love how recent video games have tended to pull quite a bit from books and comics. Always feel nice to see a more mainstream part of the franchise acknowledging the more niche aspects
So its possible Dooku took Yaddle's crystal instead of his bleeding his own.
While I’m not completely against the concept of bleeding a Kyber crystal to make it read, I much prefer the method of craft synthetic crystals back in Legends
I hope that turns out to be the origin of those orange-red sabers. It would be a nice little homage to legends.
Bode didn't bleed his saber tho, he stole Dagan's.
Bode didn't bleed his crystal. He took Dagan Geras Lightsaber after he and Cal Defeated him.
I'm really glad they put the bleeding in the game
While it's likely not Fool's Kyber, as seen in the novel "Master and Apprentice", due to the apparent duel between that orange-red lightsaber guy and Ahsoka , it could be. The way I remember the novel describing Obi-Wan's blade with such a crystal, it should look pretty similar.
Did Dooku bleed his own crystal or Yaddles?
I think It's safe to assume that he used Yaddles crystal, since he became Sidious next apprentice right after killing her.
@@joaofranscisco7817 he uses the same hilt though. So, is his original crystal still out there somewhere?
@@revolver70 fair question
I’d love to see a magician dressed as a Sith Lord bleed a blue, purple, or green kyber crystal into a red one in real life at Disneyland.
I wonder what Count Duku did for his lightsaber? Did he bleed his own, or did he take Yaddle's?
I always recommend The Rise of Kylo Ren.
That comic is so short but has many important events not in the movies.
I personally think orange-red sabers are fallen jedi's saber that have bled their saber but it was like Degan it was on "mutual "terms unlike Kylo who forced his saber into being bled.
I personally attributed his crystal being bled so quickly to him being angry and hateful with his crystal nearby for so long
Q&A: Are Skoova Stev and Meebur Gascon closely related? Or just coincidentally look the same?
“Uploaded 5s ago”
Dagan's lightsaber didn't look quite red yet. Still had a little orange in it, like blood-orange is right on the edge of going full red dark side.
Dagan's lightsaber looked kind of orange to me, making me think of the orange blades in Ahsoka.
Dude! Don't you know?? Now you just have to be REALLY angry, and it will just, bleed it's self
I wouldn't say there's a difference at all. The Sith just have a tradition of wanting the crystal to be from an enemy, but it would've been the same thing if Vader was allowed to bleed his own crystal.
What about Dooku? Do we have any information on if he bled his own Jedi Crystal or if he took one?
Bode just took Dagan’s saber. I’m curious to know what Bode did to his saber since Order 66. Probably sold it on the black market.
Orange sabers can still be had by using Kohlen instead of Kyber though?
I kinda miss fighting dark Jedi in games like Dark Forces 2 that had normal colored sabers
What about Dooku? Doesn't he bleed his crystal? Or does he take Yaddle's? (I haven't seen Tales of the Jedi)
@1:49 he could have killed him right then and there why did he not ?
It really has to do with the relationship of Kyber Crystals
Kyber Crystals choose a Wielder and chooses a blade color that highlights the inner trait and affinity of the Wielder
For Jedi they respect their Crystals and forge a bond with them
Sith usually steal the crystal of the first Jedi they slain and bleed it
They force a bond with a Crystal, breaking it to their will like a beast of burden
They have no previous relationship with the crystal, and the red color is result of the abuse
Jedi respect Kyber Crystals as a living thing and wouldn’t usually bleed it, as doing so would cause it to be in a constant state of suffering.
A fallen Jedi would partially bleed the crystal, to bleed it enough to change the color, to reflect their bond and dedication to the Dark Side, although some Dark Jedi may choose to fully bleed the crystal red themselves
But those that partially bleed the crystal, would respect their crystal enough to not make it fully suffer, but bleed it enough to share their own pain and reflect their original bond in the Dark Side, creating the color reflecting it, which seems to be orange at least in the case of former Jedi Sentinels
"But those that partially bleed the crystal, would respect their crystal enough to not make it fully suffer"
A better description is that Dagan's Crystal is experiencing the pain Dagan is feeling and unlike with Vader; it isn't resisting the bleeding process, because of the bond that Dagan made with it upon finding the Crystal
Passed it yet?
They could just use their own, though.
yes it was cool it was easy for him to bleed because it was his hope we see a flashback of Ahsoka purifying hers
Dagans Lightsaber is orange not red, so maybe fallen Jedi who are still jedi not sith have orange sabers.
is it just me or are Bode and Dagan's sabers kind of a similar Orange-red as the ones in the Ahsoka trailer? my assumption was that it's the new canon indication of a fallen Jedi and the Sith are the super vibrant red we're used to
First of all Bode didn’t bleed any crystal he took Dagan’s lightsaber after Cal left the room
Second it looks orange red because that’s how the red lightsaber looks at this game you can even see that the red color in NG+ also looks orange red
While it’s weird I honestly like how it looks better
Bode stole dagan gera lightsaber after cal defeated dagan if you go back to the place where you defeated him a force echo of Bode taking the lightsaber will be there
I do wish this kinda hadn’t happened. I liked Fallen Jedi with unbled sabers tbh
So is it safe to assume Count Dooku bled Yaddle’s crystal?
I think Vader only had to steal one because he lost his original.
The red sabers in survivor kind of look orangish. Felt like the color wasn't red enough. Even Vader's looks orange.
The green one's feel too yellow as well. Minor gripes.
Probably a HDR thing.
High Republic Jedi are more powerful
Hi Alex, longtime fan of the channel. I wanted to suggest in future videos to be more careful with spoiler warnings. I know you put the disclaimer at the beginning of the video but seeing as I already knew about Dagan bleeding his crystal I thought it would be fine to watch, and then heard the spoiler regarding Bode.
Star Wars is binary. It’s a black and white fairytale. There’s nothing wrong with that. You can have moral nuance somewhere else.
@@neotralize9110 It's not anymore. They dove straight in to the middle ground with Rogue One.
@@nathandts3401 Sure but the fantasy aspect (Jedi and Sith stuff) remains true to its original intent. Also even if the rebels did some shady stuff, the empire are still clearly the bad guys. There’s no nuance there.
@@neotralize9110 I think Saw Gerrera being in everything is indicative of where they're going with the morality. Andor did the same thing. The Nightsisters have been given a push through the two Respawn games. Dooku is probably the most sympathetic Prequel character now. The middle ground has had a big push for a while now and they've stepped it up
Can't play because I don't ever Pierce 5
Bleeding a kbyber crystal is awesome just Ashoka bleed her Lynette crystal red to white
what Ahsoka was using Force Healing on her crystal to make the white
She didn’t bleed it she purified it
Bodes Kyber is ORANGE. Not red
That wasn't his lightsaber, he took it off Dagans corpse.
It’s how the red color looks in this game, look at the red color in NG+
Is there an echo i missed where Bode mentioned bleeding a lightsaber?
He didn’t bleed anything he just stole Dagan’s saber
Dagans lightsaber was yellow and it went to orange and then red. Like the color wheel.....pretty basic concept
