Contour/strip farming is such a neat idea. Here in northern Vermont crop rotation seems to be very minimal and its just corn or grass as far as the eyes can see...
Yes I’m watching this video in August of 2018 but Ryan, this is probably one of my favorite video’s you’ve done so far. I enjoy watching your video’s and sometime like to meet you at a farm day. I used to live in Muscatine Iowa but now live in Florida. Keep up the wonderful vids. Thanks, Barry
Nive video! I lived in rural part of Repentigny,QC at my young age and the farms are all square or rectangular shapes. They all are about 125 square acres in size and they were about 15 dairy farmers in the 80s;now they are 4 left!nearly all left the dairy production to soybeans and corn because of long hours and not much vacancy;by the way here in Quebec they harvest soybeans and THEN corn; its because corn here takes longer time to dry;i think you do the opposite!
Thanks for emphasizing the importance of soil and water conservation. My grandfather promoted those in the Texas panhandle area during and after the Dust Bowl era.
My wife was is from Iowa. Just northeast of Waterloo. I have always lived in Colorado. I think the midwest is beautiful.real nice video . How much land do you guys have?
This was one of my favorite video's you've done, especially since I'm also a drone pilot (Phantom 2, Zenmuse H32D, GoPro 4) You've a beautiful farm, and I can only imagine the joy your hard labor brings you.
Nice work with the video! I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. What a neat perspective of your farm and surrounding landscape. I look forward to more of your videos.
cool vid...very well done, never realized how much you very your crops in one field, (I'm used to seeing one crop per field) I know you said you run multiple crops but seeing it from the air like that shows it off very well, once again very nice video,I enjoy watching them
Pretty cool video Ryan. Drones sure have changed the way you can can actually film videos. Was great to see your spread! Love the contour farming. You get a better sense of it from the air! Keep up the great work!
The weather here is completely out of order. No rainy season, no hurricanes, no winter. Hot air, dry ground and humidity to make life miserable. This is the driest year here so far in history.
Nice work on the video Ryan. The contours always look like art to me. I know the are not art to work with or on. Double to triple the size would be nice for that nice big tractor you guys have. Would you feel right on big rectangle field with straight lines of work? Keep it up, good work.
real nice vid ryan love the drone could you do another one from rocksville farm and then way up to so you can see the layout and what the old cow pasture looks like?
How many acres does your family manage in total? It's hard to tell from the drone pictures but I would guess somewhere around a thousand. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks. All of your videos are so interesting!
I'm curious, how many acres did You just show Us? I'm new to the channel, and I love how/what You show in Your vids. I'd love to take a month off and be part of the harvest process. Thanks for the vids, and keep them coming.
You should update or re run, older videos. Every year. Get more views and information saves same questions. Hire a multi species graduate intern from Polyface farms to follow the cattle with chickens and use the woods for pigs. Why rent off farm to loose time and money in big ags sand box.
Hey Ryan! I'm from Norway. I live on a farm in the middle of the country. We grow potatoes and grain (barley). I noticed your fields are split up in strips, its not common at all her in Norway, and i wonder what the purpose is, having these strips with diffrent cops. In Norway this would be a big field with hay, or grain crop. Over to another topic, i love your videos. watch them all the time. Take care, hope you answer my question :)
+How Farms Work How do you feel about vertical tillage? We have been playing with the idea of switching our tilloll over to vertical tillage shanks. It supposedly will give a better yield and is suppose to help with erosion, which would be huge on my farm, because a creek runs smack down the middle of it.
Having grown up on a farm I'm familiar with cow trails. Here in the S.W. United States you can see several illegal Immigrant trails that are reminiscent of cattle trails that get established in less then a week as the migrate around border check points. The leave carnage and garbage behind as they migrate North. They have no respect for other peoples property as they cross. At least cows leave behind something beneficial.
Beautiful country!
Love that contouring
you are blessed love your channel

Your crops look really good down their to, im 200 mi north of u an ours look good to this year!!
Cool. All of our fields in Florida are flat, so this is different

Great looking area. Your drone is really cool. How far can you film from where you are standing?
This drone can fly up to 1.2 miles from where I am standing. That doesn't necessarily mean I can see it though!
Ryan you sure make awesome videos.
I would be in my glory to live in your area and farm and being your young age.
I just love the landscape of south west Wisconsin, the rolling hills an an contour strips always love driving threw that area!!
Awesome! What kind of Drone do you have?
that's a beautiful farm you have.
How long did it take you to fly the drone so good
My wife was is from Iowa. Just northeast of Waterloo. I have always lived in Colorado. I think the midwest is beautiful.real nice video . How much land do you guys have?

Great video. I thought the end was great when you flew up to yourself. It's awesome to see you coming along with the filming technology.
Wow thanks for the video.

Looks like your waterways need mowing? I'd still like to know how you determine how you set off your contours? How many acres are we looking at?
How many sections/acres does your family have completely?
Are you take the video of a drone
Pretty cool video Ryan. Drones sure have changed the way you can can actually film videos. Was great to see your spread! Love the contour farming. You get a better sense of it from the air! Keep up the great work!
Great video, could you do a video about the drone?
Your farm is in North Dakota?
The weather here is completely out of order. No rainy season, no hurricanes, no winter. Hot air, dry ground and humidity to make life miserable. This is the driest year here so far in history.
chargermopar Where are you? We're on par for a record amount of rain here in Oklahoma. We got 30" in May which is almost a normal year's total for us.
South Florida, Homestead area.
How many aceras is that farm

Hi my name isRichard Brouillette is Travis your brother. Love your channel watch every day when I get home from work.

Do you rotate your crops on a schedule, or do you just watch for how they're doing?
Is that voluteer corn sticking up in the soybeans, or just some random weeds?
why do you plate yur fields like that? strip here n strip there
what kind of drone did you use?
Idowu Olawoye Since he said it was capable of filming 4k, I would assume he would be using the Phantom 3 Professional.
Are the cattle trained to stay on the trail or is it fenced in?
beartechdeck Cattle like to follow their own trails. They're only fenced into the pasture as a whole.

Ryan - nice video. Could i get your permission to use 10 seconds or so in a ag presentation (see Aginsider.com for context)
Do you , your brother and parents own each one of these farms separately and only share equipment?
R MacK My parents own the farms, and we each live on separate ones.

+DesertDigger1 I think you are referring to manure and to this I agree.
