February 17, 2018: Benavidez successfully defended his WBC super-middleweight title against Ronald Gavril, securing a 12-round unanimous decision.

Benavidez is nothing more than a weight bully. Walking at 200 pounds, he started his career at 180 and went DOWN 2 weight categories to pick fights with smaller/lighter boxers for 10 years. Canelo came UP 4 weight categories to become undisputed at 168. You know who else did this: Leonard, Hagler, Whittaker, De La Hoya, Trinidad, JC Chavez, Morales, Marquez, Paquiao, Jones Jr., always going UP for new challenges and becoming champions in higher divisions.
